View 2 RepliesI created a pixel/blocky style of logo in Illustrator. Need to bring it into Photoshop for scaling/coloring/etc. Unfortunately, when I try to scale the logo down in Photoshop 7 (via drag/drop/scale/place), it applies anti-aliasing to the logo. This is obviously no good since the logo is pixel based, including a pixel style font.
How do you resize/scale things without anti-aliasing in Photoshop? (Especially with the Transform/Scale tool, as opposed to using "Image > Resize" (with "Resample Image: Nearest Neighbor").)
I'm not used to using files back and forth between Illustrator and Photoshop.
I am trying to modify a brush to draw fine dotted lines. Even with the hardness cranked all the way to 100%, the edges are still soft and anti-aliased. Is there a way to completely turn off anti-alias for brush?
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow to anti-alias a rectangular selection. I'm trying to create a solid filled rectangle with a thin border, but it (Photoshop 7) doesn't seem to give you that option. It gives you that option for the freeform selection, but not the rectangular margquee.
I've used Paint Shop Pro to create that type of shape using its vector features.
I am trying to separate the foreground and background of an image as i want to blur the background.
I have tried a couple of methods of selection and then layer by cut command.
I have tried with feathering and without but i get a line around what i have cut out.
When I select the rectangular marquee tool, I am unable to check the anti alias box. It is unavailable to me or "greyed out". My text is quite jagged, and I am thinking it is because of the unavailibility of the anti alias effect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a 3D globe, but using CS6 (i have designed in 3D in CS5 before but want to familiarize myself with the process for CS6). The problem is that the edges of the sphere are a little sketchy and I want to change anti-alias settings to solve the problem but cannot seem to find them anywhere .
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Creative Suite CS3.
I'm copying some vector art from Illustrator and pasting into Photoshop - for some reason it isn't anti-aliasing it. Even when I select Smart Object and rasterize, it's jaggy.
I've also tried saving as an EPS and importing into Photoshop - same behaviour. I can "open" the file, but that flattens it.
What makes it stranger, is I have another machine with CS3 and it imports correctly, so I'm guessing there's a preference somewhere...
working with printed material and the CMYK enviroment.
I'm designing some full color business cards entirely in photoshop 7 and I have a couple questions:
1) Is it true that one should turn off Anti-Alias when creating text for printing? I know it looks jaggy on the screen but I heard it is suppose to be better for printing.
2) Should I set the text layer to "Multiply" not "normal"?
concerning anti-aliasing a graphic. Im currently using Photoshop CS2 running on Windows XP.
I have a graphic that I want to use with backgrounds of different solid colors and even the occasional multi-colored background. I want to smooth out the jaggies of the graphic in such a way that the smoothed graphic can be placed on a separate layer and the desired background can be inserted on a layer below.
I can successfully import an anti-aliased graphic IF I import the graphic and its background at the same time. But then the anti-aliased graphic is suitable for use only with that particular color background. I would like to eliminate this extra step if possible.
Suppose the graphic were black on a white background. The anti-alias pixels might be 75% gray, 50% gray, and 25% gray. Conceptually, it doesnt seem like it should be all that difficult for the anti-alias pixels to be black at 75% transparency, black at 50% transparency, and black at 25% transparency. Then, in theory, wouldnt this type of transparency anti-aliasing work for any color background placed underneath it? Is this possible in Photoshop CS2? If not, is it possible in a later version (might be a good reason to upgrade)?
I have a 72 dpi smart object with text & images inside another 72 dpi SO and need to transform it (distort and/or perspective). Once I do so the anti-aliasing becomes very poor thus making the SO's text almost illegible. Is there a way to improve this? Maybe change the way the SO is being anti-aliased?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI made a selection with the magic wand (with the anti-alias box checked), made a new layer, and dumped a color in with the paint bucket (anti-alias box is checked). But, the edges are not anti-aliased. I am running Photoshop CC on Mac OS 10.6.8, and this problem occurred in a .tiff file and a .psd file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a new design based on a grid, so I need pixel-exact text layers. For this I always use "None" as anti alias method. This is pixel-exact, but it's absolutely not beautiful. So from time to time I'd like to check how the full impression of the layout is on a modern browser that support anti aliasing. Sadly it's quite a pain to do and then again undo it for every text layer separately, so maybe there's a way to speed things up? :-)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI try to anti-alias or matte the edges of a shape in order to make a transparent gif/png of it without having pixelated 'hard edges'. The current situation is that I have a selection of some shape in GIMP. Below the layer with the shape in it, I stroke the selection of my shape with a lighter colour by using a fuzzy paintbrush. This gives me some sort of anti-alising effect, but it isn't any close to the matte option in the 'export for web' dialog of Photoshop. Because I really do like GIMP, I am curious if there is a better way to get anti-aliased shapes using Gimp?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Photoshop CS2 to create Designs for webpages. These designs have pixel-exact elements, e.g. a 1-pixel-line from top to bottom.
Now when I zoom in (>100, then I have sort of anti-alias, so that the 1-pixel-line isn't only one blue anymore, but it has different blue tones. I guess for photo manipulations etc. this anti-aliasing zoom is great, but for webdesign it sucks because I don't know if only the zoom make the line "corrupt" or if it really is corrupt.
Is there a way to change this zoom?
I have a problem with Photoshop CS, working in a limited account.
Namely, in admin account PS has in 'Save As' File Types list, among others JPEG file type.
But in limited account there is no JPEG file type in the 'Save As' list, so i have to go to 'Save for Web' to compress psd file.
I presume that's something about ntfs permissions, so i assigned full control to COMP/Users for Photoshop folders in 'Program Files' and 'Common Files', but to no avail.
Is there some Windows compressor, to which PS is addressing to compress files, and if so, where it could be located? If i knew that, i could assign user permissions to it.
I've been converting pictures from raw to jpeg and copying for transfer onto usb. After transfer I try to open the file in the organizer and it's missing
View 1 Replies View RelatedAn associate of mine is having difficulty getting his website photos to work. As a graphic arts professional, with fourteen years of experience in Photoshop, I offered to help him. The JPEGs look fine on his laptop, but once transferred to the Web they don't display.
I downloaded several photo and got this error upon opening them in PhotoShop:
"Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT, or DHQ marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker."
I am stymied in my efforts to unravel this error. It looks like this should be something that can be fixed and the files recovered.
A few things I noticed and learned about these photos: the guy who did them made batch thumbnails in Flash. Accompanying these files were a few MPEG files, and the pictures were taken on an older digital camera with a video recording feature. These photos were uploaded with WS_FTP from a Laptop. (I have used WS_FTP without an error from Windows 2000.) The last 4 out of 60 odd photos work fine. They are chronogically listed among the MPEG files. (These last 4 photos could have come from a different camera, but were all uploaded simultaneously).
RAW to JPEG and RAW files go missing?
I Have started to use Lightroom 4 and importing RAW files into lightroom. To this point its fine, then i export them to Jpeg, again to this point it is fine. NOW !!! when i go back to the location i picked up the RAW files from, thet are not there, have they been saved into another location? or have they been over written?
I sucessfully (apparently) downloaded Elements 11 and Elements Premier from a purchased disc. BUT, in my apllications folder, within the Elements 11 folder, I have an Elements 11 ALIAS (which does not open) and a folder named 'Support Files' in which is Elements Editor which does open. What do you think happened to the apllication for Elements 11?
In the Premier 11 applications folder, there is a Premier ALIAS. Then in the 'Support Folder' there is a Premier application (which opens) and another Premier Alias.
So, what are these Alias' about?
Is Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor the name of the application for Adobe Photoshop Elements 11?
And are the support folders the right location for these apllications? My other Adobe applications are within the folder of the same name.
In Photoshop, I realized that the shape tool is divided into three prefered styles - Shape, Path, and Pixels. In Shape, I have the option to to change the stroke and fill but not alias it. In Pixels, I have the option to alias it but not change both the fill and stroke. If I create a shape as one style, I cannot convert it to another. Is there a way to change both the fill and stroke of an aliased shape?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have about 20 images that I was trying to Burn in a DVD but , I ended up getting CR2 Alias files with an arrow at the bottom left corner.
I want to open the images either in Photoshop CS6 or in Light Room 4 or in Bridge. How to open the images in jpg. or in RAW.
We are running CS6 13.0.5 on multiple Mac Pros, most Mac OS X 10.8.3 but one 10.8.4. We've experienced the issue on both OS'es.
Sometimes when saving files to our primary share (an SMB share on an EMC Celerra) the files are having their alias and invisible bits (for Finder) set.
Not the flags (chflags), the bits (can be changed using SetFile in Mac Dev Tools).
So these files are showing up as hidden aliases. Seems to be no problem saving locally.
I've got a car that's been imported from Alias. Its been tessellated via showcase. I'm trying to UV map it as I need to apply some camouflage and it's not going so well. I get an extremely complex UV layout in the UV editor based on the original NURBS patch layout from Alias, needless to say its not very useable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been getting this Undefined Alias Referenced error showing up every time I open one specific drawing.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related to the first part. In the same drawing I have several png files that I can't get rid of.
Someone has given me a .wire file from Alias. I fired up a new assembly in Inventor but it imported into a part. There are many parts to this design, and I'd rather have them as separate parts. However what I have now is one part with many surfaces (which I can turn on or off). Any tips for bringing it in differently? Maybe I can derive some parts out from my existing part which has about 20 surfaces (which should be parts)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working in Civil 3D 2013 for about two weeks and everything was going smooth until I got a fatal error message while trying to rotate a basic rectangle. When I reloaded AutoCAD Civil 3D my command line displayed the following error message: "AutoCAD menu utilities loaded.; error: bad argument type: input-streamp: nil”. My drawing loaded normally but when I tried to draw a line using L+Enter I got a note saying “Command: L Unknown command "L". Press F1 for help.” Now none of my aliases work and when I go to Express -> Tools -> Command Alias Editor from the menu bar, I get the windows that are on the attatched screen shot. The PGP files wont work and importing aliases gives me the top right box on the attatched image. I have tried adding a Support File Search Path from the options menu and that too has failed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep changing the Command Alias Editor in ACAD 2010 so I can use the hot keys I have grown accustomed to. They work fine but when I close ACAD then reopen it goes back to defaults and I have to change them again. I know it's probably loading the wrong menu file or something simple but figured I would ask the experts before I start moving files around.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMost efficient way to transfer my custom pgp commands? I'm constantly moving between different computers and autodesk versions.
I used to just be able to overwrite the acad.pgp file in the support directory but this doesn't seem to work in the newer versions and I'm hesitant to continue like that in case their are new commands introduced in newer versions that I don't know about then they'd be over written.
Is there anyway to include my command overrides (eg. c=copy) in my back up cui file?
When I create a rectangular box in Autodesk Inventor 2008, shell it, and create a new sketch on any face and press E I expect to be greeted with the extrusion options. This does not happen, and a command alias input dialog appears in the status bar.
I really want to turn this off, since it has happened on other occasions as well. Since there's no other way to get to the extrusion feature, it completely halts my work.
Usually when I don't know what a feature is for and I'm not attempting to use it I expect to not see it- especially when I perform actions that don't usually bring it up. I'm not sure why the behavior has been put there. Hopefully it's not put into later versions (I've seen 2010 complaints as well) so someday an upgrade will remove the annoyance.
