CorelDRAW X5 :: How To Make Text Compress To Given Width
Jul 17, 2011
I set up a text box, for say the word "Tractor". Let's say that with the font I select, the width of the text box is 2 inches. I want to be able to replace the text, with say the phrase "Green Tractor" and I want the text to automatically compress in width to be no longer than the original 2 inches and I want the text height to be the same as the first.
I know I can select the text box handle and re-size manually but I am entering many fields for each print job and I need it to do this automatically. Also if I entered the word "toy", I would not want the word to stretch to fill the 2 inches but retain standard proportions.
My Engrave Lab program does this on our engraver and I am basically trying to do the same function in Corel for our sublimation printing operation.
I am new to CorelDRAW. I am using it to generate scientific application notes that contain both graphics and text. I am running into a problem where I have a negative number that is close to the end of a text line (using justified format). CorelDRAW wants to treat the negative like a hyphen and keep the "-" on one line and then moves the number to the next line. For example, if the phrase "...cooling to -150 C for 5 minutes..." were to wrap across a line, it would look like:
"...cooling to -
150 C for 5 minutes..."
Instead of:
"...cooling to
-150 C for 5 minutes..."
The only way I can figure out how to get past it is to change the width of the text box so the lines wrap in different places. I have tried adding a space or two, adding hidden text (text with the same color as the background).
Is there a way to stretch the width of text, once it is in an envelope or on a path? You can adjust the kerning(spacing), but I don't see anywhere that you can adjust the width of the letters.
An example: I have the word MAVERICKS on an arched path in a design. I want to change that design for the RAMS, so where it says MAVERICKS it will now say RAMS. The problem is RAMS is a much shorter word and I need it to stretch to the same width as the previously used MAVERICKS.
I decided to use Data Link Tables for my Excel sheet instead of OLELinks. The appearance is far sharper, and I am also pleased there is no background color transfered. What IS the problem is when I update the table, its goes from 12" Wide by 12" Tall table @ 7/16" Text W/O borders back to 3" Wide by 10" Tall with varying text size to fit and gains back all borders except diagonals (of which none are present on the Excel file).
So, any way to default the format when I refresh so that it holds each cell at the 6"X1" dimensions with no border.
With that, If there is a way to have a stencil for making the range links with Excel, that would be useful. I use the exact same 4 or 6 ranges (2 formats) in every dwg.
I'm trying to create a banner with a line a little down from the top, the line must look engraved/sunken. I'm not sure what to call the effect. Here's an image with text that looks engraved:
Ive got Coral draw 12. What I want to do is to change normal text to a line so that my laser cutter can pick up the fact that its a line to cut and not an engrave. Or is that not possible? if so what program would i need?
I want to know is there any formula/calculation for the width of text object before creation/insertion? At now I used approximated width size via a simple .
(Defun GetStrWidth (str H W) (fix (*(* H W) (strlen str))));;usage: (GetStrWidth "This is a Text." 2.5 0.8);;H: TextHeight; W: width factor.
I know that for the existed text in drawing I can use textbox command, but for the texts that has not been created, what can I do? Is there any formula/calculation depends on font name, text height and width factor?
how to make a template for arched text? I have a basic layout for the text, see screen shot. I want to be able to enter in whatever name I want and have the first and last letters be larger with the overall text on an arch.
I am trying to make a circular sign with text inside it that follows the contour of the circle. Half of the text will be on the top and half on the bottom.
how to make the line smaller in the start, and wider at the end. With a brush, I can only figure out how to draw with the same thickness all the time..
Is it possible to assign a type of link to an object or text where the user can open the document and click on the object which is on the first page and it will take them to a specified page set by the link? This is kind of like web design but not, know what I mean?
I have some picture look like a line of graph, but it has only one-pixel line width (for an example in attach file) and it can't be seen when I put it in presentation slide. So I want to make line thicker, like 3-5 pixel width. How can I do this?
I found this script that makes the selected objects the same width AND height. I am very new to creating scripts. is it possible to modify this to make an object the same width leaving their heights the same?
mySelection = activeDocument.selection; if (mySelection.length>0){ if (mySelection instanceof Array) { goal=mySelection[mySelection.length-1]; for (i=0; i<(mySelection.length-1); i++){
I want to use this pic for my phone wallpaper. I tried to enlarge it but the quality drops really bad. It needs to be 960x800. Is it possible to extend the top part of the picture to make it more "square" without cropping the width?
So, my table has a few rows and a few columns. I want the width of the first cell of the last row to be wider by 1 cm than the width of the first cells of the other rows.
When i select a cell and resize it with my cursor, the whole column changes width. I want the column to stay as it is, just its last cell to change width. How to do this?
I'm trying to export an image of a certain width and height but when I click on export, the size doesn't remain the same. I try to change it back to the normal size but it's impossible as one number gets altered if I change the other.
I have tried with the "maintain aspect ratio" option checked and also unchecked. This has never happened before, I've always been able to export with the exact size I want, although very often I find the width and height change when I click on export but I have been able to change it back until now.
I would like to fit text to a bounding box's width.
So for example, if I have a bounding box with the with 10 cm, I should be able to type text in it, multiple lines, and the text should then fit itself to the width of the bounding box by going up/down in size, so the height of the text also changes accordingly.
I know it is easy to tile objects using the Transformation - positioning and then click on the "relative position" and choose the direction.
But if I want to only shift it half the width to create something that may looks like bricks tiles.
One way to do it is to look up the width and height of the object, bringing up the calculator and divide it with 2 and then enter the result into the positioning manually.
I use Corel Draw X6.4 on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC, but since the first installation of Corel Draw X6 I have following problem:
I use millimeters as metric scale and when I create any object, the object manager states that the outline width of that object is set to 2 mm, but it is obvious that the width is only 0.2 mm. Now if I try to change the outline width to 1 mm, Corel draws the outline with a width of 10 mm instead and the object manager says that the width is even 100 mm. To solve that problem I always have pressed the Undo-button, so the width changes to the desired 1 mm but the object manager still tells me that the width is 10 mm.
I am using CGS12 along with my Epilog laser. The Epilog treats all line-widths up to 0.003" as vector (for cutting) and anything above this as raster (subject to DPI settings).
I have been using 'Hairline' as my vector but recently hit a problem and would like to guarantee that a line defined by a label such as 'Hairline' will always be below 0.003" in width (and therefore a cut-line on the Epilog).
Is there any way to adjust width of attribute text so that it is not out of contained block. The attribute is set at left alignment and width factor <=1.
I want to write the words HAPPY and BIRTHDAY underneath each other so that the word HAPPY takes up the the same width as the word BIRTHDAY. I also want to make the HAPPY twice as tall as the word BIRTHDAY.
Do I need to adjust the spacing and/or width for each individual letter? I'm guessing I can make the HAPPY taller by some kind of stretching tool?
I need to change the width and height of some text i'm inputting to and image so that the height is 100% and the width is 75% in ariel size 11, how do i do it? I cannot find the answer on google,
also, the phrase capitalized, is this some special setting or does it just mean write in capitals
I am using a multiple line attribute. I insert the block, fill in the text, and adjust the width of the multi-lines text so the lines are longer and there are fewer of them. I save and close the file, then re-open some time later and the width of the multli-ine attribute has reverted back to a different width (shoter) - I am assuming it is the default width that I set to the attribute. Is there a setting to stop this from happening? Is there something I should do when I create the attirbute?
