I'm having trouble with Draw X4 now that I have moved on to Windows 7 64 bit.
When I try to insert a symbol from my user symbols, I get the message that the program has stopped working.
I have tried chaging the compatibilty but that hasn't worked.
I have a symbol that when I insert it into my dwg, I would like it to trigger a rule to create custom properties and fill out those properties. Ive already created a rule that is 100% working, I am just curious if its possible to have that rule triggered when I insert a specific symbol?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to use symbols in a drawing like those little electronic symbols. I have added the extras from the DVD that came with the package but cannot find the symbols or get them to appear in my drawing.
I go to the symbol manager and it has some file folders but they are empty. I try to use the little disk symbol to navigate to the library content on the DVD but it does nothing when I click on it.
Why can only symbol fonts be used for bullets in X6?
Almost every font has at least the simple bullet (0x95) and the middot (0xB7) included. And there are many non-symbol-fonts out there that contain interesting bullet-like characters.Why the restriction? For a more compact selection list? Corel, could we have a checkbox "[X] Symbol fonts only " to uncheck if one wants to choose from all installed fonts?
s there a way to make patterns (repeat symbol) along paths? Something like using Artistic Media > Brush, but I'd like it to repeat symbol. It's possible and simple in illustrator, but in work I have to use Corel Draw.I need to make something like that: [URL] ..... can't use line style, because the pattern is too complex. I have trouble working with transparencies inside a symbol. It also does not work if it is power-clipped inside a symbol. The error message is as follows:
This item cannot be stored inside a Symbol. The item must be removed in order to be able to finish editing this symbol.
this same procedure works in Corel X4.
Just installed X6. However, even though I installed Symbols and Objects from the content install, symbol manager does not see the symbols library on my hard drive. I guess it expects me to add a library, but where this symbols library is. Am I supposed to install the entire content package (I really don't want to clutter my hard drive with thousands of unwanted images) in order for symbol manager to be able to automatically find where the symbols are?

The symbol is on a layer which is not locked, and the object which has become a symbol was grouped before I made it into a symbol. The boundary marks changed from black to blue.When I try to select Edit/Symbol/Break link, the Break link command is greyed out.

My symbol manager doesn't work in CorelDRAW X5.
I open the symbol manager and click on local or network symbols, add library and go to c: users/public/ public documents/ Corel/ CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5/ extras/ content/ clipart and click on any of the folders or files and then click on "ok" and I get absolutely nothing.
Nothing appears in the symbol preview at anytime. I think I am doing this according to the instructions. I know the clip art is there because I can navigate to it through windows and open them.
I uninstalled, re-installed, and updated it.

I am tryng to create a nautical letter Y symbol. It is a yellow square with red diagonal lines inside it.
I have started with a yellow square then created red lines above and then tried every permutation of the Shape tool, but I cannot crop the red lines to fit inside the boundaries of the yellow square. I have tried with the yellow square on top and under the red lines, but every one of the shape tools seems to either cut a shape out of the yellow square or cut the middle out of the red lines instead of cutting the red lines off around the inner edge of the yellow square. (I hope I am making myself understood). I don't want to have to shape each line individually to fit within the boundaries of the yellow square.
(I tried to upload the cdr file for someone to try but it was 393kb and this forum would not let me upload more than 256kb.)
How do I remove the "paragraph" symbol or turn it off??????
It wasnt on when i first installed it last week and i must have turned it on by accident...and there is not a button that i can see to turn it off like in ms word.
What is the paperclip symbol that shows in the color fill? When I use my own fill it's solid byut sometimes when I import someone elses file it has that paperclip thingy?

I would like to just add some notes to the balloon so that I can update them manually but all I can find is to have a symbol. So I created a symbol, the insertion point for the symbol is shown. For some reason I get an extra number and the symbol offcenter. Why is this happening? What I'm really looking for is a balloon that is fully customizable so that I can just add text to the top and bottom and fill out the details.

Basically I have a lot of points on a map and I'd like to be able to name the points along with other data like tooltip callouts, etc populated via XML then loop through the XML to build the points of interest on the map. If I can get the above working I can place that variable path reference into an array and grab the data from it later. But the path is not working the way I have it.
Can I call a symbol from the symbol panel and place it on the stage?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep having the experience that when I run PowerTRACE it says the bitmap is too large and must be reduced to trace. If I click cancel, X5 crashes immediately. If I click reduce it works sometimes and crashes sometimes. I tried tracing some of the same bitmaps in X3 and they worked fine. Is there something I need to change to allow PowerTRACE in X5 to run more smoothly? Is there a way to up the memory allotted to the program?
I'm running XP SP3 with an Intel Core 2 E8400 processor and 4gb of ram (3 of which XP actually knows how to use.) Not the most spectacular setup but it worked fine with X3. I tried adjusting the quality vs. performance option in the PowerTRACE settings but I can tell any difference.
I was recently given a new CorelDRAW X6 update/service pack within the last month. Since then, when I export a Corel image to EPS, CorelDRAW X6 crashes. Be sure and SAVE before you export!

I have tried reinstalling it a couple of times but in vain.
I´m trying to open a file that comes with a cd. Windows explorer tells me the file was produced with coreldraw 5. but when i try to open it coreldraw x6 crashes immediately (x64).

we updated from corel 14 with smart designer to corel 15 with smart designer 4.5. Corel is crashing almost continually and is running slow. it is on a dell workstation running a xeon processor W 3503 @2.4 GHZ with 4 gig of RAM with windows 7 professional with service pack 1 32 bit system. We have defraged the system, ran a registry cleaner, rebooted etc..
View 1 Replies View Related When I open a file the program crashes. It doesn't matter what file, they all cause the program to crash. It seems that X6 just cannot create the work environment unless it starts from scratch.
The solution I have found is to start a new document first and THEN open the file I want. After that, everything is fine. I can open any files I want all day with no crashes. Kind of weird, but what the heck..at least it works. By the way, my files are typically small (less than 2MB) composed of a few jpegs, some text, and some simple vector shapes.
I am using the 64 bit version of X6 on a 64 bit pc running Windows professional with 8GB ram.
Latest version installed (16.2)
If I draw a shape (or select an already existing shape) and choose "Bitmap Fill" or "Full Color Pattern" CDX6 freezes and then after several seconds throws the "CorelDRAW X6 has stopped working" error at me with the only options to "Check online for a solution..." or "Close the program"
Prior to the 16.2 update CDX6 would freeze in the above circumstances but eventually come out of it and apply the fill (program wouldn't have to be closed).
All other fills work as expected. This is a Win7 32-bit system.

It crashes without warning, it just closed... that's all.It happens whenever I try to:- Save (either clicking on the save button or using CTRL+S)- Group (with CTRL+G or by clicking on the Group button after right click), I've tried to remove the "Pattern" and I can group finally, but still closed when I try to save.I try to remove any fillings but still closes when saving (but it didn't got saved at all)I've browsed through the forums and tried everything... nothing works. Even un-install and re-install didn't work.
It even closes when I try to save a blank page (with only an object like rectangle or something on it)
OS : Windows Vista Home Basic 32bit
Corel draw x4 starts up fine, when you either pick a template, open an existing file, or click the new drawing button the mouse pointer becomes the circle and it says Processing at the bottom right corner of the screen, the status bar next to processing does not progress at all and it just stays like this until i close it. It says (not responding) in the top bar.
I have downloaded the updates from corel draw and have also un installed corel draw and re installed it and it is still the same.
I just installed CorelDRAW X6 on a new 64bit Win-7 machine. When I try to use keyboard shortcuts to cut and paste paragraph text in a document I created with X5 on my old 32bit Win-XP machine, CorelDRAW crashes. I need to be able to work with my old X5 (and occasionally, older) files. Is there a fix for this, or do I need to go scrap X6, and put X5 on my new machine?
