I would like to learn how to create a print design for college hoodies. I get asked all the time but it takes me a very long time to do it. I am sure there is a quicker way in illustrator.
I want to create a design like this image. I am using Illustrator CS 5.1 right now.
I'm creating a logo that consists of the word DIFFERENT in text and a shape, a dot (an ellipse) that I want to appear above the I and be vertically aligned with I.
How can I do this?The problem is that I can't see how to identify the point in the text - the centre of the I - to act as the target. I can't seem to get any of the Snap to Object tools to work.
I feel that I should be able to mark a specific point anywhere on a shape or an object and use those points to align.
I suspect that I could achieve the effect that I want by splitting the text characters up into individual objects, than I can align them more obviously but then I set up some other issues with kerning.
I'm working with CorelDraw X3 and want to fill text into a round shape, while keeping it's exact outline. Hence, cutting of parts of words and letters is fine with me as long as the shape is well-defined. Unfortunately when filling paragraph text into a shape, the automatic line breaks lead to a quite irregular shape regardless of font size.
As workaround I arranged a mask in front of background and text but this requires a square paragraph text which is larger than the background. Since paragraph text obviously cannot be cropped with other objects I made the mask size bigger and filled it white. When exporting my document as image everything looks neat, but there must be a better way to do this in CorelDraw itself?
I tried converting the paragraph text into artistic text and cropping this, which works fine for a few words and a small object. But I'm talking around 1000 words here, and trying to crop this artistic text leads to very random cropping results. I guess such a large number of objects and knots is too much for CorelDraw to handle!?

I have drawn the shape, inserted the text as paragraph text, but the text always wants to sit straight. I am so frustrated as I can find a workaround in either Corel or Adobe CS products. I have tried using artistic text in Corel, but have to do it line by line - and this brings other problems, such as I cant justify each line with each other, and sometimes a character jumps up relative to the other characters and the entire paragraph does not taper in...so this is not a solution, apart from the fact it will take me FOREVER to insert line by line....I would like to treat the text as a multiple line paragraph, and follow the shape.
When making numbers for the side of a race car for example, you want both the numbers to angle (lean) towards the back of the car. So on the left side of the car, the number is leaning to the right, and on the right side of the car the number is leaning left. How do you change the text to get the number to lean the way you want it too?

I have successfully converted a number into a text box for this purpose. The text is inside and looks great.
However, I need to convert this number / text box to curves in order to keep its appearance when e-mailing. When I convert it to curves, the text shifts its position to outside of the text box. The strangest part is that it only happens with numbers that have a gap in the middle (4, 6, 8, 9 and 0).
Can any body explain why this is happening?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a long time Corel user trying out Coreldraw suite 6. I'm having a problem making some shape tools work on text (they work fine on other objects). If, for example, I write a piece of text and then select it, followed by the smear shape tool, most of the time the text is deselected and the tool does nothing. However, the Shape, Smudge and Roughen brushes work OK. I've tried using different fonts and text attribute to no avail. I've tried L&R clicking, holding the button down and double (and multiple) clicking slowly and quickly. But no deal. It's not a mouse or pad problem, it's the same on both.
BUT...guess what, every now and then it decides to work! Sometimes it will work on a piece of text and later won't work on it again.
After I put an envelope on some text and then adjust the envelope (i.e. curve it upwards), I was wondering if you can still adjust letters' kerning with shape tool.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a bunch of filled ellipses scattered around a drawing, and I want to place numbers & symbols inside these shapes. But whenever I choose the text tool and click inside the shape Corel is 'automatically assuming' that I want to format as paragraph text, and then it's all over. The only way I can 'escape' the paragraph formatting is to delete the shape & start over.
Is there any way I can temporarily-disable paragraph text, or force the characters to be artistic text?
I just installed CD on my daughter's computer and her shape tool only allows for a free form selection by following the cursor in a free form way. My install allows for a rectangular click-and-drag type of selection. I see no options for this tool Is her install bad?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got two trajectories from the bottom of two tires and I want to create a road surface, an object whose shape will match the trajectories, thereby creating a perfect shadow catcher.
The trajectories are virtually identical in shape and number of points because the two point helpers that created them were wired together. I've converted them into splines and messed with the loft tool, with not so good results. I ended up brute forcing the shape of the object into some kind of shape but I think there has to be a good, dependable way to do this in a program like max.
I'm using the variables panel in Illustrator to pull a data set I've got.
For example there's 2 text variables and 1 number going from 0-359. I'm looking for a script which looks at the variable name and pulls the number, then uses that number to rotate a shape by that many degrees.
I want to engrave the text 'TEST' all the way around this clonal object. When I use the emboss tool, selecting the option 'wrap to face,' it gives me an error message that the "face selected is not tangent to the profile plane."
I am using a work plane that is offset from the XY plane. I included a screen shot and the file that I am using (Inv. 2014)
Text is allowed only on the outside of a rectangle shape. The text cursor disappears when I try to enter it into the rectangle and when I place it on the edge of the rectangle, it rurns into a slanted "A" and allows texting on the border of the rectangle. Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 (build date Sept 7, 2010). This software came with my new HP Pavilion dv7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is something that has bugged me for ages. Sometimes i have real problems making a circular hole in another shape. I would normally use 'back minus front', but when i do this a lot of the time Corel adds the nodes into the shape but it doesn't actually cut out the area. Hopefully the graphics here will explain this better.
So i want to cut the three white circles from the blue background, but you can see the results:
The odd thing is this doesn't always happen. If i just draw a square and a circle, and cut one from the other, it works fine. Also, is there an easy way to 'punch' out the nodes that it has left in there to make the hole in the shape?
It is likely that I don't use dimensioning often enough to get familiar but I think X6 is harder to use than previous versions. I do like being able to pick various arrowhead styles or tickmarks. Still trying to figure out why dimension numbers are blue and how to change that back to black and resize.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using Corel Draw X3 to create name tags that have room numbers printed on them so people know where they need to go. I am importing an Excel spreadsheet for the data. When it does the print merge it is adding a decimal at the end of the room number. For example, instead of showing room 215, it outputs 215.0 instead. How can I keep this from happening? I've tried everything I can think of in Corel and Excel both.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Text Shape which dynamically changes it's value to represent the x coordinate value when a box is translated on the x axis. I achieved this via script controller attached to the box object. This works perfectly, however I need to keep the position of the decimal point in the same place as the coordinates changes but because the value and hence it's length changes, it's position changes accordingly. For example if the value is 3.141 and this changes to 3.14 the decimal point moves to the right slightly as the length of the text shape updates.

I know the use of Master Layer. But contents on it will remain unchanged for all the pages. However the page numbers should auto increase page by page.
Adobe InDesign or pagemaker is useless infront of Corel Draw. But the problem of Footer (page numbering) has to be resolevd. So that Corel Draw will replace InDesign or related book work softwares.

Font Navigator was just finally working properly after giving me hell for the last few months, but now the Hotfix has broken it again. For as long as I can remember it has had a limit of about 64000 fonts in the library. All fonts are listed but once you got to the 64001st font in the list, it showed the preview for the first font in the list. Annoying, but i had about 66000 fonts in total available so it only affected a few fonts beginning with Y and Z.
Since the hotfix, it appears this 'limit' has been halved to around 32000 fonts. Which means I can't install any fonts beginning J - Z using Font Navigator any more, making it near useless. I've attached screenshots to show this.

I would like to make the number (1) to be aligned in the center of the box, so I select all and then (Click+C & E) as in the attached file.
I noted that I got the vertical in the center, but I got the left of horizontal a little bigger. I knew that I could get it centered both horizontally and vertically by converting texts to curves. I, however, don't want to convert it to curves because I need to edit the texts.
I would like to start saving in the file name a unique number with our artwork. When we send out art for approval it would be easier to have shirts-2345954.jpg as a searchable file.
Ideally the numbers would start and generate sequentially, per save or by some factor. So that once a number is used it can not be reused.
I've got CorelDRAW HOME & STUDENT SUITE X5. According to EULA I'm allowed to install it on 3 Computers athome. Actually X5 is installed only once on my Notebook under WinXP.
Now I'm going to upgrade the Notebook to Win7 or Win8 and re-install the CorelDRAW HOME & STUDENT SUITE X5 then. Will this re-installation be registered as a 2nd installation? If yes, how can I de-register the old XP-Installation? I plan to provide the other two installation options to my 2 children and don't want to loose one, therefore.
