AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Not Enabled In Drawing
Oct 15, 2013I have a very simple dynamic block that works when I test it in the editor but refuses to work when inserted into a drawing. I am not a newbie to dynamic block creation/editing, but it has been a long time since I have had to create one and this has got me stumped.
Is it possible that my employer has somehow blocked the use of dynamic blocks in drawings?

Mar 5, 2014I have a multi-page document with different topics, photos, graphs, etc. I've set up multiple text boxes for each topic and placed photos in their own containers.
I need to add about a half page of content to the 2nd page of the document. However... you can't just "press enter" like you would in Word and have everything move down. Do I have to actually move it all manually myself? It makes it even more difficult by the fact I only have half a page of content to insert, so everything that follows will also need to be separated to maintain consistency.
It wouldn't be much of a big deal if I was inserting an entire page of content because I could just insert a page then.
AutoCAD .NET :: Unable To Use System Date Format?
Oct 18, 2011Inside VS 2010 the datetime components format the date string as "dd/MM/yyyy"
Inside autocad 2012 the date formatting is "dd/MM/yyyy"
but inside the .net appication that I am writing, the date.now returns "MM/dd/yyyy" and the compents also reformat to "MM/dd/yyyy" so I end up with lots of "invalid date string" errors

Sep 12, 2012I'm adding a reference system grid to my paper space viewport. The default text format for the military grid reference system is almost perfect, except for the figures that are superscripted (see attached figure) - which I would prefer are aligned on the same baseline as the larger text, but still at the smaller size. Is there a way to customise the text format so that the reference system remains dynamic, but I get the exact format I want?

Aug 5, 2013I have rotated my view about 15 degress (just for this example).Now I prompt user to select the point, which is also an insertion point of the block.
So we have:
- selected point: X=0, Y=294, Z=0;
- insertion point of the block: X=0, Y=294, Z=0
(this is what I have in properties list or when I execute LIST command).

This is how it's now:
Sketchplane = YX(+Z)
Sketchplane view = Front
Groundplane = ZX(+Y)
Groundplane view = Bottom
Home view = Front(up), Bottom, Right
But I want it to be like this:
Sketchplane = YX(+Z)
Sketchplane view = Top
Groundplane = YX(+Z)
Groundplane view = Bottom/Top
Home view = Top(up), Front, Right PERMANENT!!!

Sep 27, 2013After upgrading to Inventor 2014 we notice that the graphics do not work properly, and that the overall performance in drawings and modelling bad compared to 2013. Then we installed SP1 and now drawing views are disappearing, however when we select "shaded" view the view reappears and works perfectly..

Nov 25, 2008Each time when I place a part in base view, have to follow few steps; go through view label, format Text, than choose type option - [Properties-Model] and its property - [Part Number], than placing dimensions. it takes long time and very repetitive, especially, when placing a hundreds of parts and I was wondering if there is an option, to set up view label; [Properties - Model ]& [Part number], as a DEFAULT. So, each time placing a part, in base view it will come up with correct label. Also, overall dimensions, can it be retrieve using parameters of the part?

Jan 29, 2013When I create a new dwg, I use a macro to set all the system variables in the drawing - ltscale, hatch scale, etc. I also use the setq function and define a few new "variables" in the drawing. For instance I use setq to define a variable I call "sf" and set it equal to 72. Everything works great and I do my work and close the drawing. Next time I open the drawing, all my custom variables no longer exist. I have to use redefine them all over again. Is there a way to get these custom variables that I create with setq to stick with the drawing permanently - so I do not have to redefine them every time I close/open the drawing?

May 17, 2013I received the attached drawing file "A" from a surveyor that was created in an earlier version of AutoCAD (approx 2000). The attached drawing is rotated so that the view in Model Space shows the cross-hairs with north pointing northwest. There are points included within the drawing that do not match the coordinates of the surveyed points within the attached ascii text file. I would like to rotate the drawing so that the points match the coordinates in the ascii file and North follows the y-axis.
I have imported the points from the ascii text file into a new drawing file "B". I external referenced (overlay) the new drawing file B into drawing A. I tried moving all of the objects in the drawing file A (with MOVE) to a known point coordinate and then rotating (ROTATE) the objects to two known points. I don't know how to select all of the objects in drawing A and not the external reference in drawing B so that I may Rotate only drawing A objects.
How to move and rotate the surveyors drawing A so that I may match the coordinates in the ascii text file.

Aug 16, 2011I created a stereoscopic timeline in Smoke. That seems to work so far, but now I want to output it in full resolution on a 3D TV (Samsung). The TV only supports HDMI in.
I'm working on a Smoke for Mac 2012 with a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 (which has 1xDVI and 2x Display Ports). And we have the AJA Kona 3G (SDI out and mini HDMI). We have a reference monitor which is connected via SDI and that works.
We tried to connect the Mac via mini HDMI to HDMI. We did get a signal from Final Cut Pro, but we didn't get a signal out of Smoke.
I tried all kinds of settings, but there is no way of outputting an image from Smoke. What options do we have, so we can get a 3D signal out?
I heard that Smoke for Mac doesn't support Dual SDI out. Is that right? Would it work to simply buy a converter from SDI to HDMI? Would I still get full res HD out then?
