View 4 RepliesHaving trouble extruding 2d object can not extrude on a path! Currently using 2006 version.
I am typing PE then M then J then then it is asking me to enter fuzz distance or [jointtype] <0'-0">: (which was not covered at CU).
I am getting the error message 'Path curve is coplanar with or tangent to the plane of the profile curve.Unable to extrude the selected object.'
when I try an extrude this shape around this rectangular shape below.

I am currently working on a playground development for a school project where we have to build a 3D playground based off of autocad drawing, modles, etc.Below is a picture of a "crab see-saw" that I have in my park, and I am having trouble making it 3D. I have tried using "extrude", but, while it streches the drawing into 3D, only the crab's claws become a solid object. The crab's body remains "open".
Crab.jpg -> Normal Drawing
crab2.jpg -> Extruded Drawing
The steps I take to extude it are:
1. Select extrude command
2. Select entire drawing
3. Click top of crab body for designated height
4. Type in 7 (units) as the strech command
5. Press enter
All the lines for the crab body are connecterd and I just can't figure out why it isn't working.
I am trying to extrude an object in the negative Z direction.
Easy to do at the command line by putting a "-" sign before the distance to extrude the object but I'm having trouble in autolisp.
Define points for polyline for valence
(setq p1v p1)
(setq p2v (polar p1 (DTR 0.0) box_width))
(setq p3v (polar p2v (DTR 90.0) val_thick))
(setq p4v (polar p1V (DTR 90.0) val_thick))
;-- Create valence polyline
;-- Draw the polyline for the valence
(command "pline" p1v p2v p3v p4v "c")
;-- Assign the new part a variable name
(setq cab_valpl (entlast))
THIS IS THE PART I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT BELOW ....... WHAT IS THE SYNTAX TO EXTRUDE "VAL_HT" IN THE NEGATIVE DIRECTION?
;-- Extrude the polyline to make the valence
(command "extrude" cab_valpl "" val_ht "0")

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have built a polygon mesh of an alien and I would like to cover him in armour plating. To do this I selected various faces and extruded them outwards (see picture).
However I would like to be able to select this extrude as a separate object (because I want to texture it differently later on). Is there any way I can extrude to a separate object?
I'm fairly new to the world of CAD, and I was just working on a phone case for my friend when I tried to extrude geometry text, but couldn't because the OK and Apply options were greyed out. I tried embossing and making a hole, but they were greyed out for them too. I tried messing with the settings to see if I could fix it, but I still couldn't. I'm really confused right now, I remember doing something similar for a case I made for myself.?

i'm applying an extrude modifier to a simple spline shape, and i am accustomed to the extrude modifier generating a solid 3d object in the shape of the spline, if the spline is a closed shape.
however, in this case, the extrude modifier is generating just a 3d outline based on the spline's shape...
i can't figure out why i'm not getting a solid 3d object since the spline is closed (i checked all the vertices).
file is attached (the spline in question is named "upper side section")

I'm trying to extrude some text with the font type "CommercialScript BT". In Inventor 2011 this was not a problem. In Inventor 2012 and 2013 I get the error:Â Â Â
Create extruded feature failed
Part4: Errors occurred during update
Extrusion3: Could not build this Extrusion
Self-intersecting loop found in this profile. Remove the intersection by adding a sketch point at curve intersections or by changing non-profile geometry to construction geometry.
Is there a way to solve this? I have tried to extrude other fonts without any problem. I can also extrude one single letter with the font "CommercialScript BT" without any problem but as soon as I writes a word I get the error.

I am currently trying to make a bracelet with text engraved in the outside of it with autocad, and my current problem is that I have to make the text 3D before I can subtract it from the bracelet. I am using autocad for mac, which means I dont have the express tools, most notably textexp. I am fairly sure that, without other programs, making 3d text with autocad for mac is impossible. I have tried making text in adobe illustrator, outlining it, and exporting it to autocad, but when I explode it (with the default explode command) and extrude the text, it looks like this:
As you can see, very few of the letters get properly extruded, and some arent even effected at all. I've tested other fonts, and they all have the same problem, albeit with some differences in exactly which letters are changed. Except papyrus, in which none of the text gets extrudedhow to make outlined text from illustrator extrude properly, be my guest! The same goes if you have a different way to make 3D text.
I'm trying to extrude multiple faces, and then get them to rotate along the center of the object so that they can all sort of have the same angle radiating from the center. In the picture, the one on the top Left is my starting point. I would like to rotate those faces, for example, so that they will all be flat (picture on Right which I achieved through vert snapping to grid) but the only results I can produce are the 2 small pictures on the bottom. =(
Is this possible?
I am using autocad 2011 and i am trying to turn an object into a revision cloud like i used to.
When i open the revision cloud, the only options it now shows are "exit/options" (option only opens a box that allows you to change the arc style and cord length). It does not have "arch length, object or style".
(i am using AutoCad Mechanical but i changed all the toolbars to AutoCad standard)I cant make a neat revision cloud without those original options.
Any way to turn off the ghost text that appears when you select text that is annotative, not get rid of it just not show all of the other scales for clarity.

I've tried several tutorials to see what the 3D features are, but I can't even get past step 1 of selecting the extrude to 3D option.
I've tried selecting the layer and still grayed out.
I tried selecting the copy with the type tool and still grayed out.
Not sure if this should be a PS ? or not.... I have often heard if you can do it PS you can do it in AE.
Â
I want to change the face of my text. Not color as with RGB selection, but with a pattern or texture.
Â
IE: Billet Aluminum face with rivets or Diamond Plate look.
Â
Normally I would matte it, but I also want to Extrude it  For a "fat 3d look"
Â
PS or AE?
Â
Matte is not a renderable option using 3drt, Cheating it, using an alpha add mode and an alpha track is not getting a render. Is this a job for PS to create my text as a 3d text and then import it as a comp? Or will I lose 3d like in AI?
I got a PDF today that (besides being just a complete and terrible mess) has a basic vector shape in a clipping mask that won't let me turn off the overprinting.
Â
When I select the whole object with clipping mask, the Overprint Fill box (in the attributes panel) has a hypen. When I click into the clipping mask or go to Object > Clipping Mask > Edit Contents and I select just the vector shape, the Overprint Fill box has a check in it, and I uncheck it. Then when I exit out and reselect the whole object I get the hypen again. I can also uncheck the hypen and the box is blank, but then when I deselect and select it again I get that evil hypen again.
Â
way to turn off overprinting for a single object in Acrobat Pro my mind will figuratively explode.
I have got a drawing that contains lots of text. The problem is that i need to turn them into UpperCase text and there are heaps of them. It'd be time consuming if i do it one by one. wonder if there're any easier way of doing this?

on a picture. i can turn a blue object into yellow, green or any other color. and vice versa. To do that i know 5 different ways, or combination of those methods. 1- Hue/Saturation2- Color Balance3- Selective Color4- Replece Color (Similar to Hue/Saturation) 5- select the area, create a new layer, paint the selected area on new layer, blend the new layer with "linear burn". but when it comes to black, i can't change the black to another color with any of the ways above. So i was wondering if it is possible to turn a black object into white without killing the texture. Or cleaning the object from colors, making it colorless.best way i know so far is playing with "exposure" settings. but this time the objcet on the image is becoming blure and loosing its texture. Here is the object i m trying to make white (or colorless). Do you know any way to do it? i need to make that shoe as white/colorless as this one below.

I was hoping that AutoCAD could automatically generate the shape around the text on it's own instead of me having to create it first.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to rotate a small object in Paint. When I use the rotate toolbar to enter the angle I need, the object rotates just like I want. Then I hit the apply button and some pretty heavy handed anti-aliasing is applied and the object is essentially destroyed. I've been using Paint for quite a long time so I figured there must be an option to turn this off. I can't find one. I even added the anti-aliasing button to the rotate toolbar and turned it off but that doesn't make any difference.
Essentially, what I want when I rotate an object is the chunky, pixelated preview, not the final anti-aliased so much you can't tell what it even is anymore final product.
At this point, I'm going to have to resort to rotating the object and taking a screenshot of the preview and using that instead of the mess that the final result is.
I know this is located in other locations but I can't seem to make it work with my block.
I would like the cross and the text N to rotate independantly of the arrow while the N stays with the thick line. That's the easy part. How can I make the N move along the rotation path and keep the text aligned horizontally? I read something about linked action and move, but I can't make it work.Â
I have a rather weird problem. I am using .dxf files as digital overlays on a new optical comparator we recently purchased. The problem is, the cad files we used to create our old mylar overlays is both 3d and comprised of text/curves/dimensions. I figured out the flattening and turning the text into lines and curves, but I cannot find a method to change the dimension graphics (profile boxes, length dimensions, and angle dimensions) into lines and curves.
When I import them into the comparator program only the lines and curves can be displayed on the comparator. Is there any way to flatten and make all of the dimension graphics lines and curves?
