Basically I am trying to plot a paperspace layout tab... I have 4 viewports... I have selected monochrome... And when I plot it on my HP plotter everything in the viewport plots in color but my titaleblock information is black and white...

I have several objects on various layers in model space and they are exposed through a viewport in a paperspace layout. I also have a corporate CTB plot style.
Here is my problem: If i plot the objects from model space, they all plot with the correct lineweights as defined in our corporate CTB, but when i plot them from the paperspace layout, some but not all objects plot with a heavier lineweight than what is defined in the CTB.
I thought the CTB was supposed to override any settings applied to individual objects, but more importantly, why the different results, on the same objects, depending upon the space from which they're plotted?
Using someone elses template. When I plot to PDF the layout sheet name is not the PDF plot file name, it uses the drawing file name (and hence the same file name for all plots, not what I want). When I plot in paper space, my layout sheet name is the output file name, is there a way to change this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a bit of code that batch processes from a template drawing. It all works fine until I get to the SaveAs() function. I have narrowed down the problem to have something to do with the drawing starting and saving in a paperspace layout. When I run the code with the template saved in model space it works fine but whe the current tab is a paperspace layout I get an error during the saveas() function "eInvalidInput"
I am using VS2008 and Autocad 2011. Is there a difference in saving with a paperspace layout current?
I have got a drawing that is set up on A0 as per the client requirements. However, for use on site by our engineers, i want to send over an A2 of just the area they are working in to make it clearer for them. On my original drawing, all the information for the installers is dotted around the page to show site requirements. However, what I am planning on doing now is making 2 x A2 drawings showing the areas of work for this phase, and then 1 x A2 showing all installer requirements.
My issue is though that i don't want to alter the positioning on my drawing in the layout tab as it is to how the client needs it to be and sod's law will be that i will need to do an amendment at some point too.
I have seen a drawing with some boundaries drawn on the layout, which the client has put on a 'defpoints' layer, then on the paper space they have been able to show the different defpoints in different areas on the page, even though they are joining on the layout tab.
i want to add some dimensions in paperspace. after creating some dimensions, if i double click on my viewport and move it around a bit, the dimensions in paperspace stay where they are. is there a way to get them to move with the drawing?

How i would create this image,( just a 5 second attempt to illustrate what I am trying to achieve), in AutoCad:
Obviously id be inserting my drawing from modelspace into the big white area in the middle, but just cant seem to follow anything I've found so far on the net successfully to get to my goal here.
A way to create a windows shortcut to a drawing that opens a specific Paperspace Layout?
For example, I have a drawing located in a Windows folder called 'Appraisal Maps', the drawing contains 2 paperspace layouts, one of which is named Show Me Stakes. I would like to have a Windows shortcut of the drawing inside of a Windows folder called 'Staking-Show Me', so that when I double click the drawing it will open up and automatically switch to the proper paperspace layout.
I am wanting this for two reason, 1) so that we do not create multiple drawings and actually use the power of autocad layout tabs and layer management. 2) so that when management opens up the drawing it goes directly to the proper layout minimizing their head scratching as to what is going on.
I have changed my color for my corridor in both the layer table and in the properties of the corridor but it still seems to be the same. I have seemed to be able to change some of the attributes but others remain the same. Same problem for the profile.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to plot a drawing with a viewport (of a 3D planview) in paperspace. The viewport has the "3D Hidden" shade plot property applied. The plot preview shows all the entities color-by-layer. I am plotting with a plot style that assigns all colors to black. Typically the plot preview shows all linework black when plotting with this plot style applied. The resulting plot (from an Oce tds700) shows the linework in a "grayscale" quality, not the normal solid black linework typically associated with a 2D viewport plotted on the same plotter with same plot style.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy group and I are getting an infrequent but annoying problem with Model Documentation (MD) generated views in paperspace layout tabs. We all on autocad 2013, with sp1.1 installed on x64 machines.
We are seeing objects/ blocks showing in the MD views (viewbase created) in the layout that are no longer in model space. One common factor in this is that these objects seem to always be externally referenced (xref) files that have been either unloaded or completely detached (both cases purges preformed afterwards to wipe any remaining blocks made no difference). In this latest case the ghost objects show up twice (we needed 2 of the same xref) at what appears to be the correct old coordinates.
We have no work around for this and when this occurs we either have to revert to an older version from vault or create a new dwg, port all information over and recreate all views. The interesting thing about this problem is that if we revert to an older version from vault, the ghosts do not reappear/ reoccur at the same commands they appeared at previously.
I am trying to create a layout view using the view manager in paperspace. Whenever i click on define window, it does not record any information no matter where i click. If i do the same task in model space, it accepts the window i select. I am currently using civil 3d 2013 with the latest updates.

As we all know when u publish a pdf the layout name & drawing file name is automatically inserted into the file name for the pdf ur about to create. Is there a way of controlling this? ie i only want the file name n not the layout name as well,

It goes like this:
1. Open any drawing.
2. Select any layout.
3. File > Plot > Select PDF as printer/plotter
4. Click OK
5. Plot job progress bar appears
6. Fatal Error Message
7. Total crash, AutoCAD closes

It is with every drawing, different drawings, every time. It started suddenly.
I am using LT 2013. I used to have 2008. I got similar errors using 2008. I uninstalled it (after trying repair reinstall, which failed to correct the problem) and reinstalled windows, and upgraded to 2013. The problem was gone for a time and has just now restarted.
I have a layout with numerous plot numbers, they have there own layer, they have a consistent style and height but display differently. According to properties the only thing that varies is their content and x,y location. It should be a 2d dwg but i have had 'issues'.They have consistent layer properties, linetypes, weights, the font isn't bold, colour etc. I have tried flatten, flatz, specifying them at a significant height and then bringing them down again, match properties which interestingly will make narrow text bold but not the other way, setting Z to 0.000000000001 etc. I tried viewpoint etc and nothing has made any difference.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently using the visual style "Wireframe" and cannot seem to figure out why my lines won't plot out as dashed lines even though they are dashed in my layout. I have been playing around with my LTSCALE,PSLTSCALE but nothing seems to be working.
Current Visual Style Setting (WireFrame):

When I create a drawing in model space and then take off several views onthe new layout command, when I go to plot the layout in PDF all the viewsappear with a really thick line weight
I have tried selecting every part of the layout and changing the weight to 0mmas it was before but it doesn't make any difference...
Wall layer will not print when I export the plan to layout via export to Pdf. All other lines print. When I print in model space by putting a window around the plan and export to a PDF file the wall layer prints.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMany times when I receive a drawing from an architect, when I go into the layout tab the titleblock info/XREF doesn't line up with the page layout. I would assume it lined up when the architect sent it to me in his software. For years the solution I use is to XREF the architects PDF in the layout and then go to print and change the Print Offset till it looked right in the print preview. Then I would apply it to the layout. I would then take the offsets and apply it to every sheet. This is a very time consuming process and was wondering if there is a better way to make this work and still keep the scales. I was also wondering if there was a way to move and align the layout on the fly in the paperspace.

I am using the following materials: Metal | Alumininum (Anodized Blue, Anodized Blue-Gray), Plastic and Glass and the result is not good as all. I am also looking on a tutorial on strategic place to place light for even more realistic rendering.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI get several dwg's a day with up to 40 layouts in each one. All the settings are correct ACCEPT the plotter. Is there a way to set all page setups for all layouts at the same time? Something like select all layouts and do a page setup for all. Possibly with LISP or VBA?
