AutoCad :: Difference Between Closed And Open Polyline
Oct 10, 2012I can draw a closed polyline representing a closed area.
I can then toggle its 'closed' property and it seems to make no difference. area is same, I can extrude or create regions, I can hatch in either case.
in which specific situations we should bother about whether a polyline is closed or not?

Feb 12, 2013except for the quantity of the line . the case is I was taught to make a title block tempelate. For each single item, like text"STUDENTS NAME " or "PART NMAE" , and inluding the attributes, I was instructed to use single line text instead of mutliple line. I was told that single line won't change. What does it mean it won't change?
I feel that single line is more precisely controlled ,while the multiple line text is more ofen used in puting the notes in a drawing. But in what case use what I am confuesd. Especailly when make the tible block, It seems to use the single line text is the unique way to make each feature in its status.
AutoCad :: Making A Line Longer With No Dims On Line
Nov 9, 2012When making a line longer with no dims on the line whats the best way to do this? Stretch command or grab one end point and type the legnth you want the line to be longer by? ie: 2" long line needs the be 2-1/2" long
I will use the stretch command without problems. 2" long line: stretch command: type .5, line is now 2-1/2" long
We have a drafter (uses 2011LT) that will grab one end point stretch the line in the direction they want the change, type the added length and the line goes to the added length..2" long line: grab right side point stretch line to right: type .5, line is now 1/2" long
They use quick properties but they don't type the change in it, they type it in the command line.
They donot stretch first they just grab the point and move to the right and type .5" and the 2" line is now .5" lone when it should be 2-1/2" long. They do not have the dynamic input on. could that be the issue? When I do the same my 2" line becomes 2-1/2" long. What would be causing the difference? This just started a few days ago after we did the update for 2011LT

Oct 28, 2012I want to convert a line (Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Line) to a polyline (Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Polyline).
Currently I get all the properties from the line, create a new polyline with it and delete the line. I fear data may get lost this way. What is the best way to convert a line to a polyline?

AutoCAD LT :: PEDIT Won't Convert From Line To Polyline
Feb 20, 2013how a drawing was exported from another program. My problem is: the PEDIT command won't give me the option to convert a line "I" add to a pline.
PEDITACCEPT: 0 or 1, problem remains
It is a drawing from an house designer, I am adding structural members and notes over the drawing. I could xref, but I need to move/erase some of their notes as well. It becomes cumbersome to switch to the source dwg, edit & save, move to current dwg and refresh, to have the note where needed.
This is a pretty strange to me drawing file. It seems that a bunch of system variables are altered and hopefully it doesn't migrate over to files originating from my machine.

Mar 2, 2013I am working on drawing supplied by someone else. In this drawing virtually all the lines are polylines whereas I just want to work with 'ordinary' lines. It causes problems with filleting lines as it automatically turns new lines into polylines. Is there a way to turn a polyline into an 'ordinary' line or do I just have to redraw each line or put up with the problems it causes?

Dec 21, 2002I've been working on a floor plan after which I wanted to mark the border of a particular area. So, I drew a polyline surrounding the space and used a 2 (inch?) lineweight. It appeared on my screen to be very thick so that was great. The problem is I can't seem to draw any other polyline without seeing this big thick line on my screen - even if the linewieght is set to something thinner. It still "shows up" huge. It's like my viewing setting is frozen to only show polylines real big.

always catches the same Exception "the value is not within the expected range" .I have translated it because I get "El valor no está dentro del intervalo esperado". Perhaps is this: " Value does not fall within the expected range.".
I have tried it with different point3d values but always catches Exception.
With pol3d I have similar problem.

Aug 29, 2013I have created a feture line from a 2d polyline.
I have NO weed appplied and as you can see there are two errors :
- some points on original surface (used to get Z) are not interpolated.
- the quick profile shows error : in addition to lacking points, others are bad interpolated.
(the image show both)
The surface used behaves rightly with feature lines created from aligments
(I have created an aligment from polyline and then a fetaure line from that and the Z interpolation are ok )

May 10, 2013The problem happens in different blocks created in Autocad 2009. I need to make blocks with many visibilities and, sometimes, only a few lines need to be turned invisible from a visibility state. Many times when I remove the visibility of a line from a single visibility state, the line erased on all the visibility states. I make my lines "all visible" and it's not there anymore.
The problem is probably in my block since it's doing the same problem on someone else's computer. If the problem is my block, is there a way to "uncorrupt" it?

When I went to extrude them to make the sketch 3D, not all of the shapes I created could be extruded, presumably because in my sketch the lines/arcs did not come together properly to create a closed shape.
