AutoCad :: Lineweight Not Working When Plotting
Jan 24, 2012All my lines are the same lineweight when I plot, they do show differently on my computer screen, how can I fix this?

AutoCAD LT :: Lineweight Not Plotting
Apr 26, 2013I am trying to embolden lineweights to stand out on the drawing, without them getting in the way when viewing in the drawing. I have set the lineweight in the layer dialogue box to the max size (2.xx mm), checked the "plot lineweights" in the printer dialogue and switched between none and grayscale (this is so the assigned colors will fade out in the background). Nothing I have tried thus far has changed the print output on any of my printers (virtual PDF, HP2100, HP2600n, HP2840 they are all very old). I have read through the lweight command and help sections, but I don't need it assigning the lw just getting it to properly print.
One possible problem: is the line weight relative to scale or is it absolute? I am printing at 1/8" scale, and that can't change.

Jun 16, 2013I am running two networked computers and a networked Designjet 510 plotter. One computer runs LT2013 and the other LT2014.
I am having an issue with the LT2013 machine in that it plots much darker than it should (uses a heavier lineweight). I have checked the plotter set up and plot style and both appear the same.

Aug 8, 2013Im trying to print a logo for my detachment using Autocad to PDF but for one the line dont show up in the PDF file and second the original color of the drawing is faded. Black goes to a smoke grey color, lines dont show up, and the red is blurry. I need this to be fixed but I just dont have the skill to do it. And stupid autocad doesnt have a contact number for step by step instructions with an actual human! Im trying to use the logo for a T-shirt but it seems like I cannot for the life of me print a suitable digital image for it. I am using AutoCad ARCH 12...

Feb 8, 2013My custom linetype (something like this ----W----W----W----W---- ) doesn't work as a huge polyline (6 units wide.) The line is wide enough but the letters are tiny dots.
If I try to set the lineweight by layer, the maximum is 2.11 mm, which is way too small for the 50" by 70" map I'm working on.
Is there a way to get a nice looking line that wide with letters ( ----W---- for water, -----S---- for sewer, etc.) or should I tell my boss that we have to use the standard lines?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Plotting To PDF Scale Not Working?
Aug 21, 2012I'm trying to plot a simple site plan to PDF through the DWG to PDF.pc3 option.
The scale in my model space is 1-1 and in my viewport in paper space 1-200.
The issue is I plot to PDF, and then the scale is way out. For example an object that should be 10,000mm long in model space appears as 59mm (11,800mm scaled) on the PDF. And of course when I print from the PDF to a printer this scale error carries over.
AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Batch Plotting Isn't Working
Jun 15, 2012I recently upgraded to a new PC.
We get a lot of files from customers where there are multiple drawing borders all in model space.
Sometimes as many as 150-200 borders in one file that we need to print for the shop floor.
Years ago, I wrote a LISP routine that prompts for printer settings (Fit or To scale, etc.) and then prompts for
2 corners of each border and then writes a script file and launches it to batch plot each drawing.
My thinking was that I had to manually pick each drawing anyway, this LISP routine saved me from having to issue the plot command over and over.
Anyway, since my PC upgrade, the LISP routine fails.
There is a line of code that answers the plot prompt for output device name where I have the same printer as always.
When the script runs up to that line, AutoCAD tells me that printer is "not found".
So then it keeps reading the rest of the script lines which answer other plot prompts and repeatedly says "device not found".
If I manually print, I can choose the same print settings in the dialog box that the script file has and it can "find" that same device.
Why I can print manually but the LISP/script file gives me a "not found" error.
BTW, when I upgraded my PC, I also upgraded AutoCAD from 2012 to 2013..
AutoCad :: Plotting To PDF Versus Plotting To Printer?
Feb 26, 2013I'm attempting to plot a drawing with a 3d shape and a title block around it. I would like for the occluded lines to not be drawn therefore I'm using the hidden visual style and set shade plot to hidden as well.
My problem arises from the quality of the plot to PDF versus the quality coming out of a printer. It is just a 8.5x11 page. The pdf comes out with horrible anti-aliasing and jagged lines, whereas the print is entirely smooth. Is there something simple I'm missing? It would be even better to find a way to make the plot to PDF come out in vector format! I know it is possible to show the layers and have them vectorized in a PDF... How is this done?

I understand that they are appearing and disappearing due to me turning on or off the hide/show lineweights feature. But I would like the lines to be default size. I don't need them thick.

Jun 12, 2012Using AutoCAD 2011 we always use 0.00 as our default line weight but the default will change to 0.010 with no real pattern. It can be any drawing at any time. We have reset this dozens of times without being able to stop it from reoccurring.
We are also not able to get line weight to display (yes we check the Lineweight Settings, Display lineweight box) again on random drawings at random times.

Oct 31, 2011When I copy objects from a drawing to another drawing in .DWG, it appears that the lineweights becomes different between the two drawings.
For example, let's say there is a layer whose Lineweight is 0.3mm, Color is green and Linetype is continuous on the source drawing file. You notice the objects under that layer should be thicker. After copying to another drawing or destination drawing file, I noticed the layer got transferred across which is good and everything else associated with that layer. But then, I noticed on the other drawing, the objects on that layer are not as thick as that of the source drawing file. When i checked the layer on the layer properties manager, it shows the lineweight is 0.3mm. I wonder why the lineweight of the objects are different as if they are 0.00mm and what should I do to keep it consistent on the other drawing after the copy.

Apr 1, 2008Somehow i can't draw lines with different lineweight. I can change the color and the linetype but the lineweight doesn't. In the properties toolbar over the workspace the last option (after lineweight) is not active and shows bycolor!I suppose that is the problem why i can't draw lines with different lineweight!

Aug 1, 2012I have a drawing with polylines filled with hatching. When I pdf it the lineweight of the poly line is different to that of the hatching....eventhough they are on the same layer and the lineweights is set to 'by layer'.

I have changed the color of the text and I have applied a lineweight to the table but the text is way too light. I just upgraded to 2012 and decided to bite the bullet and just use the ribbon, but it's really just not working out. Unfortunately I only have ACA yet am doing non-architecture work so really need to be able to modify lines without creating a different layer for each type.
