AutoCad :: Get Area Under Geometry In Properties To Give Sqft?
Dec 20, 2011
how to get the area under geometry in properties to give me sqft? It used to give me sqin and sqft and now (in one particular drawing) it will only show up as a sqin number. It doesn't seem to matter what I measure in this drawing...including new geometry that I add to it. (I tried drawing a rectangle in this drawing to see if my new geometry would give me a sqft number)

once I've set an origin, how do you get the geometry info in the properties to show the coordinates from that origin? what I want to do is set an origin and then find relative points from that origin. What are the ways to do this? On ProgeCad I would just set an origin and then if I viewed the properties of say a circle, it would tell me the x,y,z coordinates from that origin but I can't seem to do it in AutoCad.
As you can see from the picture, what I did was set an origin at the on point. Then I selected the arc for which I want to know the coordinates. But as you can see in the properties it says the x,y are like 566,567mm, but clearly if I draw lines to that point and measure the lines it is only like 1.00,0.70mm.

Say I click on a line, and then go to the properties inspector to adjust its length. When I scroll down to "geometry" the options are greyed out and I can't adjust them. (see attached image)
It was working fine, and then the other day they were randomly greyed out, and I cant figure out how to get it back to normal. I don't know if I accidentally changed some setting or what, but it's like this on every object I click.

I was wondering if there is a settings for the displayed values in a polyline's properties. Such as area. Normally it will display square feet but I would like for it to also display acres. I know it a simple conversion, but over the course of a year or more it could save me alot of time.

Have recently upgraded to 2014 and can no longer get the AREA of a closed polyline in quick properties. It is no longer an option when customising the quick properties information. I know you can measure area in a number of ways but it was very handy to click on a closed polyline and have the area of that object come up in the Quick Properties window.
how to get the Area of a closed polyline in Quick Properties for 2014?

I'm looking at several surveys and using plines to quickly map it out and divide. But then to find the area in acres, I'm using a seperate calculator to convert the area given in the properties box.
I've searched and found that there was lisp used before acad 2011. and was hoping that there maybe a way for acad to do it now.
Can I just change the units from sq ft to acres in that field on the properties box in acad 2013?

I have a layer with a vector mask.
When I go to the properties panel, enter the feather radius „0.5“ and hit the enter key it rounds it up to 1 (Pixels).
Entering „0.4“ and hitting enter gives 0.
4.3 gives 4
4.6 gives 5
and so on.
So hitting enter rounds the value, although decimal values are accepted and do work. Why is that? What's the purpose of rounding the number?
When I enter „0.5“ and click somewhere it works without changing it to 1. Then it's really just 0.5 px. But hitting enter (the most natural thing after entering some value) rounds it.
Is this a feature or a flaw?

When I select any object, my quick properties tab is blank and my properties tab doesn't register anything. Also, I get an error message when I go into my CUI to try to modify the quick properties tab. Pretty frustrating. I've attached a couple of images for reference. I've repaired, re-installed and unistalled and re-installed and still have the same probelm.

It's not just the layer that isn't being displayed in the Properties Palette. My 2014 Properties Palette isn't contextual--displays only the general info--none of the object specific information.

A user showed me today that she cannot see any properties for a wall, door, or other AEC object in the Properties palette.
Some options like height, width, etc. are shown, but not layer, style, etc. from the General portion of the Basic tab.
Is this going to be a reinstall scenario or is there a fix for this?

I recently upgraded from LT2013 to LT2014. I never had any issues with 2013, but now seem to be battling with 2014. My OS is Windows 7 Home edition.
When selecting an object and then clicking the properties menu, the properties of the selected object are not displayed, but instead the properties of the selected layer are shown.
In the attached screenshot:
1) My active layer is "AM_VIEWS".
2) The layer of the object that is selected is "MEDIUM".
3) The properties dialog box shows the properties of my active layer and not the selected object.
I am therefore unable to override any settings of the selected object and manually change settings e.g. Linetype, Linetype scale etc.

I recently had to reinstall my AutoCAD LT 2008 and now when I open the properties palette to make adjustments to dimensions and fine tune, many peramiters that used to be visible are no longer there and accessible. I used to be able to adjust the dimscale as needed in the properties window, but can't now. How do I get it back?

I want to set up my drawings so that the title block displays properties from the model. I want to set this up so there will be drawing properties to extract into Vault. So I want to know what other Inventor and Vault users are doing to get model properties into Inventor drawings: Using model properties in the title block and nothing to extract in Vault or Copy model properties so Vault has data to extract.
I want to know what the best in class practice is? What are others doing? I do not want to use iLogic I was out of the box Inventor functionality.

I've recently migrated from AutoCAD 2008 (non-industry specific) to AutoCAD 2010 so I don't know if this was an issue in 2009.
Back in 2008, when I choose the 'window' option when specifying a plot area, AutoCAD would show the workspace so that I could manually select a windowed plot area, and at the same time the whole workspace would be greyed out except the previously active window area.
This was handy, because we can have as many two dozen title-blocks (and therefore separate viewports) in paperspace, and knowing what plot area I last plotted or added as a saved page setup.
In 2010, it no longer does that. I now have to rely on the dashed border to know where the active plot area is/was (checked 'display printable area' in options>display tab) which I personally don't really like using.

How to changes the settings for the "Square Area" in mapcheck's closure summary. When I right-click the dwg name in the Settings tab of Toolspace and choose Edit Drawing Settings, then Ambient Settings, I see the Area settings, but in the closure summary, there is also "Square Area". Why are these both there? It WOULD be nice to show sq. ft. as well as acres, but I can't find anywhere to edit it.

I finally got some Lisp scripts working. They generate a block library from a CSV file. The script reads the file, and generates a simple rectangular block based on dimensions on the line. I have another script that can read a csv of block names and values, and add these as attributes to the block.
The attributes added are simple, like "weight" and "max stack qty". I would like to be able to see these values in the properties tab or in quick properties. In my CUI I have "Display Custom Attributes" checked under "block reference".
However, when I select a block, no attributes show up. I can get it to show me things like "name" and all of the scaling values, just no attributes.

I want to know if there is an easier ACAD solution for drawing. In the given triangle of ABC (sides and angels are known) I want to draw line CM so that the area of BCM becomes 2000 cm (are of ABC is 5311.7 cm3).
Is there an easy ACAD way for drawing this line without using trigonometry for calculation?

What would be the efficient way to determine the right case polygons are intersecting polygons?

I have a code which I want to rotate a part. I have a text parameter 6 and 7. If one of the values is active I want to give the component a certain rotation.
Under the 'Hoekkoppeling' parameter is the angle constraint.
Below the
If Parameter ("KlemHoekstuk-01: 1", "KoppelingType") = 7
Then Hoekkoppeling = 60 deg
ElseIf Parameter ("KlemHoekstuk-01: 1", "KoppelingType") = 6
Then Angle = -60 deg
End If
I now get always an error on the second and fourth line.
I feel that the specify for the value is incorrectly.
