AutoCad :: Flip Text In Dynamic Block?

View 9 RepliesI'm trying to make a dynamic block with attribute text. I've made a FLIP action to it but the text will not follow.
In the Command Window i get this text
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 16 found
Select objects: 6 unlocked AttDefs filtered from selection.
I have a section marker with some text with it and when i make it a dynamic block and try to say flip it it will only take the circle and line with it and leave the text with attributes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having a small problem with creating a flip state for a dynamic block that has 3 visibility states.
The visible/invisible parts of the block won't flip even though I have created 3 flip states (one for each visibility state) and selected all of the parts of the block I want to flip each time.
I have created a pretty nice dynamic door block with flip parameters - size changes - and visibility parameters for jamb/no jamb. However I would like to add an option for changing the door from 90 degrees, 45 degrees and closed. I can't use the visibility parameter since I am using that for jamb/no jamb option. I was hoping to add a rotate parameter, but am having issue with the arc line. Is there a way to have the arc move with the swing in the door? If so, I can add that to the more refined door block. I have attached Drawing 2 (Door with just the rotate parameter) and Drawing3 (More refined door dynamic block without the swing option).
View 8 Replies View RelatedI designed a dynamic block to represent the profile of boreholes, and its different layers (depths, in profile) are linked to the respective description text by a leader.
Problem is when I flip the text with its leader, the tip of the arrow loses contact with the borehole. And as I flip more times, the further it gets from its original position.
I sent the following message to autodesk:
Issue: Dynamic Block causes crash
Preface: A dynamic block c/w a "flip" parameter and a multiline attribute will crash when the block and attribute is flipped, and the attribute justificatiob modified.
Explanation: When the dynamic block is flipped, the multiline attribute is also flipped causing its justification to switch from "top left" to "top right". When the attribute is edited in the in-place attribute editor to switch the justification back to "top left", it causes AutoCAD to crash.
Workaround: Instead of using the in-place attribute editor (i.e. same as MText editor), the attribute justification is changed by modifying the attribute properties in the "Enhanced Attribute Editor" dialog box - on the "Text Options" tab
Please take a look at the attached dynamic block.
I have two flips in there, one verticle, one horizontal. For some reason, whenever I tell it to flip, and then select everything in the block, it doesn't flip the other flip's arrow.
Then, when I created the second arrow, and went back to include the first flip in the second flip's Action Selection Set, it doesn't pick it up. Doesn't matter if I do "modify selection set" or "new selection set"... doesn't matter if I select everything within (blue box) or everything that touches (green box).
Yet, when I highlight the icon box, it shows everything is selected.
Can flips not flip other flips?
Additionally, I want the rotation parameter to flip on the horizontal flip (so it stays outside the block), but I can't get that into the selection either.
What am I missing with these selection parameters?
I have been trying to convert my offices blocks to dynamic blocks and this one is giving me a hassle.
Essentially we have a line with an arrow at the end of it to show drainage pathways. I added a multiline attribute so we can add the percentage along the line with a mask. The line, arrow and attribute all need to be able to be aligned perpendicular or tangent to a given line. Everything looks great until the arrow flips sides to work from the other direction and then the text is mirrored backwards.
Mirrtext is set to 0 and I even tried it while in the Beditor to see if there was independent. Multiline or Regular attribute have the same effect as well as if they are locked position or not.
I tried adding a flip, but then the mirrortext settings work just fine and the text won't flip back.
I am working on making some view tags, and I would like the underline between the tag's title and the scale (any arch or engineer would know what im talking about) to stretch as text is added or taken away. Basically I want the right end of the underline to always be aligned with the right "edge" of the last letter of text. And no, I can't just underline it, the architect is very particular about not doing that. Right now I have this awesome dynamic sheet view tag with a rotatable north arrow and a dozen visibility states for the scale bars, but it all seems in vain if I still have to work with it manually. The text is an attribute, no special properties or settings, just locked in position.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have a dynamic block with text which, when inserted into a drawing, will show the text orientation matched to the layout? I have a non-dynamic block which is simply a donut and a piece of text. When I insert it into a drawing, the text orientation will change to suit the orientation of the layout. I created another block with the same entities but I also added a couple of lines extending out from the center of the donut. I added stretch and rotation actions in order to rotate and stretch the lines. I also gave the block visibility states so that either one or two lines would appear (the block is a utility pole,by the way, with the lines representing guy wires). When I insert the dynamic block into a drawing, I cannot get the text to match the orientation of the viewport. I've tried changing different combinations of settings but the text won't appear horizontal.
The two blocks I mentioned above are inserted into one file with a number of other blocks. When I check the properties of the non-dynamic block, the "match orientation" is set to YES. I cannot, however, change the "match to orientation" setting to YES on the dynamic block. Is this simply because it is a dynamic block or am I missing something? I don't create a lot of dynamic blocks and therefore I am not a wizard at it so I am assuming I am doing something wrong.

I'm just trying my hand at learning to create some dynamic blocks, but need a solution to keep the text unrotated. I have attached a file of my troublesome file for you experts to look at, if possible.
PileTest.dwg
The file is basically a plan view of 4x foundation columns for overhead line towers (pylons). These towers can be different sizes and at different orientations, hence the dynamic options I have applied. However, when I rotate the block I want the text to rotate with it (to keep aligned with each column A, B, C, D), but I don't want rotation to be applied to the text, if that makes sense?
I have a feeling that constraints might work, although I know nothing about them, but these usually lag my PC. At present I am having to explode the block and apply a 0 rotation to all the text.
I am working on creating a dynamic block library and am having several problems with text within my blocks. For example... I am working on a North Arrow block and would like the text to rotate with my block, but I want the text to remain right-side up. When I rotate the arrow past 180 degrees the text is upsidedown.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a section symbol that I want to rotate and keep the text at 0degress relative to UCS. The text is not in the middle so I can't rotate about the cetner of the text. I'll attach the block so it's more clear.
Right now the only fix is to assign a seperate rotation grip to both attribute text items.
I have a dynamic block (attached) for our single line schematics. It works great, but there's a piece missing. The text in the file (In / Out) I would like to have insert with the block, but it needs to be editable, so it can't really be PART of the block... if that makes sense.
If at all possible, I'd like to have the text array down when you stretch the block...
I want to make a dynamic block of just text. I want to be able to insert a block with a drop down pick list of preset texts and select the text I want it to display.
The attached file containing the various options of text I want to be able to pick from the list. I want to maintain the insertion point common to each text variation shown with a crosshair and the justification of the text as right and the height as 10. I would like to know how to add/remove variations to the block too.

I am not familiar at all with the controls in the block editor.
I have attached a basic PTZ block and what I want it to do is when I rotate the block past a certain point +/-90 degrees the text rotate within the rectangle so it's never upside down.
Can I get any direction on what route I need to take to get this done?
I want to change the text "A" in my dynamic block to "B,C,D,E,..." When i click on a blue arrow. and the text "16 A" to "20 A , 25 A, ..." When i click on another blue arrow. Text Dynamic Block.jpg
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dynamic block with attributed text that I want to remain horizontal right reading even when the block is rotated. I have set up the parameters and the actions how I was taught and even revisited one of AU's downloadable lessons to try to get it correct. my settings are the same as in the lesson. I have the rotate parameter / action set to only the geometry and did not select the attributed text. I also have the attribute locked. Nothing I do gets the text to rotate with the block and stay horizontal and right reading. It will either rotate the text along with the block or just leave the text stationary. I have tried adding a point parameter to the text but that doesn't seem to work either. I am using Base ACAD 2010 I have also attached the block for troubleshooting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have encountered a problem with some of my 'Dynamic Blocks', which seem to have become corrupted & have incorporated differing attributes. The text has moved out of the field it was originally intended to be in & I can not get it to return to its correct location, using 'Block Editor'. After testing one particular block, I have discovered it has picked-up contrasting attributes:
(i) If one 'double-clicks' on the dynamic block the 'Attributes dialog box' offers one set of 'Text Options.' However,
(ii) If the Block Attribute Manager command 'Battman' is used for the same block, different 'Text Options' are shown?
These are un-editable, without losing all of the data in the drawing. Moreover, I cannot get into the depths of the drawing to synchronize it without losing all of the data? Plus, it will not allow me to redefine the block, via the design center, Blocks (Right-Hand Click & redefine). Plus, I cannot drop a fully functioning block in from another drawing & redefine?
Wondering if there was a way to have text maintain a rotation angle of 0 while being included in a rotation parameter. I am wanting the "N" for my North Arrow to follow the direction of the symbol of my viewport tag without the "N" character rotation angle changing with it.

But if you put more than three numbers after the L- prefix, the alignment gets screwed up. Is there a way to change text alignment in a dynamic block? Or, conversely, what do the Align and Fit justifications do? Could I make those work for this purpose?
I am using AutoCAD 2011, there are new options of "no columns" "dynamic columns" and "static columns" for multiple text. I am used to "No columns" but it seems to be set to "Dynamic columns" by default, wonder if there is any setting to change default to "No columns". Or any Lisp can be used.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can one add numbers in text strings that are in seperate blocks or dynamic blocks with pull down menus? I can get a sum of numbers in a text string to add up, but once it is in a block or dynamic block with pull down menus they don't all add up.
How can one bcount dynamic blocks with pull downs?
I've built this nifty block for holdowns, but the attributes get all goofy on me when I use the flip command. The problem is that the justification of the attributes does not change when they are flipped - so if I modify the text in the attribute while the block is in the FLIPPED state, how to modify the justification?Check out the attached file to see what I'm talking about. The block instances are numbered so you can follow along:
1. block is inserted
2. attribute text is modified in NOT FLIPPED state - everything is dandy
3. block is flipped
4. attribute text is modified in FLIPPED state - text justification is jacked up
5. block is flipped again, in order to demonstrate the continued jacked-uppedness of the attribute
So I just recently upgraded from LT2005 to LT2009 and am having trouble creating a Dynamic Block.
I am trying to create a 6-sided polygon with a text attribute of either 1 or 2 digit numbers to be used as a hex note. The problem I am having is getting the text to be centered within the polygon and the correct text height.
Attached is a dynamic block of a smoke/c.o. detector. I have a few of these on a floor plan and at times the entire floor plan needs to be mirrored. I would like the text itself to mirror as well so I don't have to select each dynamic block and mirror it again to read correctly.
I have mirrtext set to 0. I have read that creating attributes will solve this problem however I have created attributes in the dynamic block and I still cannot get it to read correctly when mirrored.
I just learn about dynamic block. How to edit text inside dynamic block without using block editor. I want directly edit text inside.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a problem with the attached drawing. (The drawing will eventually be used as an xref).
I have created a dynamic block that has a (multi-line) attribute applied. This attribute is linked to an annotative text style. The drawing contains annotation scales. I have applied some of these annotation scales to the attribute so that it shows at 4.5 in paper space.
The annotation scales (metric) contained in the drawing are "1:500, 1:1000, 1:1250, 1:2000, 1:2500, 1:5000, 1:10000, 1:20000 and 1:25000". All these annotation scales are applied to the attribute.
The block contains a look-up table of properties that when applied, size the block to be used as a boundary to the following scales "1:500, 1:1000, 1:1250, 1:2000 and 1:2500".
Now, for example, i wish to set the blocks to be shown at 1:2500 in the drawing. I select the blocks and make them 1:2500 in the 'look-up' table. However, if i wish to set the annotation scale to 1:20000 (because this will xrefed into a drawing plan of a scale of 1:20000) it incorrectly shows the size of the attribute. The attribute has a 1:20000 annotation scale set to it but its size is not correct. This happens for other scales but for other scales (1:25000 for example) its fine. Also, the attribute could move when switching annotation scales and appear near the 0,0 WCS.
The layout tab shows the annotation scale and viewport scale set to 1:20000 but as you can see, the text is not set to 4.5.
I would prefer to have the attribute linked to the block though. I have tried ATTSYNC and RESETBLOCK but the bug keeps coming back.
Using AutoCAD 2011.
I am attempting to create a circle keynote. The circle part of the keynote shall resize itself according to the width of the text in a fashion similar to how the TCIRCLE command draws a circle around text.
I've banged my head against the wall all day trying to get this to work with dynamic blocks, but it is beyond me.
