AutoCad :: Creating Flip State For Dynamic Block

Mar 28, 2012

I'm having a small problem with creating a flip state for a dynamic block that has 3 visibility states.

The visible/invisible parts of the block won't flip even though I have created 3 flip states (one for each visibility state) and selected all of the parts of the block I want to flip each time.

AutoCAD .NET :: Dynamic Block Not Changing State

Sep 6, 2011

I have created a bunch of templates (title block type drawings) for my company.  In these templates there is a dynamic block used for a particular note.  Based on customer number, this note will be changed.

We have a program that will insert the correct template based on the drawing type.  It will know the customer number and change the dynamic block visibility state to reflect the correct text in the note.

I don't know why, but sometimes the visibility state does not change.  It's not the code as in some drawings it works just fine.  I've gone in and just changed the visibility state name, then changed it back, then saved the drawing and it worked.

Has trouble with dynamic block visibility states not working when using an automated process?

AutoCad :: Dynamic Block Changes Visibility State

Nov 20, 2012

I am using AutoCAD 2012 LT but also have a AutoCAD 2013 (network) license available to use.

I am having a problem with my dynamic blocks. I created a set for access control and used them in several other details such as door layout and panel wiring ect. but if I try to combine a drawing with multiple tabs to show a Door detail and the panel wirirng the Dynamic block goes back to the default or original visibility state.

I have attached Sample1 and sample2 if you try to copy from one of the drawigns to the other you will notice that the dynamic blocks will change.

I also attached the original Dynamic block.

AutoCad :: Created Dynamic Door Block With Flip Parameters

Jun 21, 2013

I have created a pretty nice dynamic door block with flip parameters - size changes - and visibility parameters for jamb/no jamb. However I would like to add an option for changing the door from 90 degrees, 45 degrees and closed. I can't use the visibility parameter since I am using that for jamb/no jamb option. I was hoping to add a rotate parameter, but am having issue with the arc line. Is there a way to have the arc move with the swing in the door? If so, I can add that to the more refined door block. I have attached Drawing 2 (Door with just the rotate parameter) and Drawing3 (More refined door dynamic block without the swing option).

AutoCAD 2010 :: Faulty Leader Flip On Dynamic Block

Jul 11, 2012

I designed a dynamic block to represent the profile of boreholes, and its different layers (depths, in profile) are linked to the respective description text by a leader.

Problem is when I flip the text with its leader, the tip of the arrow loses contact with the borehole. And as I flip more times, the further it gets from its original position.

AutoCad :: Visibility State For 3D Wireframe Dynamic Block

Dec 2, 2011

I'm trying to create a dynamic block with visibility states for different wireframe sections, with objects (simple lines) in x,y & z planes.

The block represents a bay of scaffolding, which dynamically arrays in length in set bay sizes, but i want to add visibility for different height section arrangements (i.e number of scaffold lifts in 2m lift heights)

I have this working with the maximum section (16m high), and I hoped to be able set visibility states from for the sections 16m down to 6m by "make invisble" the upper scaffold lifts in reducing heights.

The block editor will only give me the plan (x,y) view to modify the dynamic elements. Is there a way to view left, right or even isometric in the block editor?

AutoCad :: Dynamic Block Not Working When Using Visibility State

Apr 11, 2013

I prefer using Visibility State to flip objects instead of actually using the Flip command! Simply because there are less grip points for the user when using this block. My problem is: when adjusting the physical properties of the block by using the dynamic features and then changing the visibility state (e.g. left to right), the block is no longer intact so all of the grip points will no longer alter the block accordingly.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Dynamic Block With FLIP And Multiline Attributes Causes CRASH

Jul 24, 2013

I sent the following message to autodesk:

Issue: Dynamic Block causes crash

Preface: A dynamic block c/w a "flip" parameter and a multiline attribute will crash when the block and attribute is flipped, and the attribute justificatiob modified.

Explanation: When the dynamic block is flipped, the multiline attribute is also flipped causing its justification to switch from "top left" to "top right".  When the attribute is edited in the in-place attribute editor to switch the justification back to "top left", it causes AutoCAD to crash.

Workaround: Instead of using the in-place attribute editor (i.e. same as MText editor), the attribute justification is changed by modifying the attribute properties in the "Enhanced Attribute Editor" dialog box - on the "Text Options" tab

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Exploding Block With Visibility State

Aug 8, 2012

Here at the company I work for, we have different drawing templates for certain clients.  The templates share quite a bit of information with only a few differences.  I combined them into one dynamic block with different visibility states for each template.  But when we get ready to use a particular template, the block will need to be exploded to use all the information available.

My question is what happens to the objects not on the current visibility state when exploded?  It seems to just disappear.  Does the exploding essentially delete all objects not visible?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Insert Dynamic Block At Default State

Feb 15, 2013

When scanning the BTR (Block Table Records) and encounter a "*U" block definition

how can i know if it relate to dynamic block and have it's name?

acutally my current goal is:

when insert a dynamic block at default state (no change in it's dynamic properties/actions)

it's 'Name and 'EffectiveName is equal, when set some of it's properties it turns to dynamic anonymous

with Name = "*Unn"

Can i programaticlly set the block reference to be dynamic anonymous (with out setting any of it's properties)

cause i would like to modify it's BTR (with out effecting the original BTR dynamic block) but do not want to convert it to static anonymous block.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Insert Dynamic Block With Visibility State Pre-selected?

Dec 24, 2013

I currently insert certain dynamic block into drawings with a short function that first inserts the specified dynamic block and then immediately changes the visibility state to one specified as an argument to the function.

I'm wondering if it is possible / better / faster to somehow insert the dynamic block with the decided visibility state simultaneously. I've been amazed by many capabilities of VL so I wouldn't at be surprised if this can be done. (the dynamic blocks I'm inserting could have many multiples in the drawing but I need this method to only affect the one being inserted at the time the function is called. I currently use entlast to decide which one is being inserted.)

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Flip Not Flipping Other Flip

Dec 17, 2012

Please take a look at the attached dynamic block.

I have two flips in there, one verticle, one horizontal. For some reason, whenever I tell it to flip, and then select everything in the block, it doesn't flip the other flip's arrow.

Then, when I created the second arrow, and went back to include the first flip in the second flip's Action Selection Set, it doesn't pick it up. Doesn't matter if I do "modify selection set" or "new selection set"... doesn't matter if I select everything within (blue box) or everything that touches (green box).

Yet, when I highlight the icon box, it shows everything is selected.

Can flips not flip other flips?

Additionally, I want the rotation parameter to flip on the horizontal flip (so it stays outside the block), but I can't get that into the selection either.

What am I missing with these selection parameters?

AutoCad :: Conveyor Template - Flip State And Stretch

Aug 5, 2010

I am currently working on a template for a belt conveyor, everything works fine, except for one small detail. I have flip states to relocate the drive. The issues im having is IF the drive is flipped before the width of the table is set, the drive does not end up in the proper place.

I have the mirror lines for the flip states stay centered on the table. I know what needs to be done, which is allow the drives to be stretched only when they are in certain locations. Im just not sure how to do this.

Attached is the file. I am currently using AutoCAD 2009 (this would be much easier with Parametric Constraints) (The block needing work is "Drive Table")

AutoCAD LT :: Creating A Wblock From A Dynamic Block

Dec 6, 2011

I am in the process of creating a few really useful dynamic blocks. My problem is I wish to collect them in a library folder so each block is a stand alone dwg file. I know I used to to this in 2011LT, but that was some time ago and I have since changed company and we have 2012LT. I cannot for the life of me remember how to do this.

I have tried to do it the usual w-block way, but when I import them into a new drawing they are actually a block within a block. Is there a better way of doing this?

I can't seem to make a dynamic block drawing file, and then insert that dynamic block drawing file if I want the attribute to work..

AutoCAD 2010 :: Creating Dynamic Block With Scale Action

Apr 17, 2013

I am attaching my dynamic block that I am having difficulty finalizing. My goal is to be able to stretch or resize the hvac block, based on the size that is provided to me (ala 24x24, 36x36, 48x72, etc) (Stretch Action), I have that figured out, and I have the symbol in the center that stays centered as the block size changes, (Move Action).

Here is my problem, I want the symbol in the center to stay centered and scale based on a ratio as the overall size gets larger. So for example: if my size is a 24"x24" I want the symbol in the center to be approx 12" dia, but if the size gets up to say 60"x60" I want it to scale accordingly (so it could be like 48" dia), specifically maintaining the size based on the x axis, so if the it gets to a 60x72", I'd like it to still be centered but size according to the 60 width, and not stretch and look awkward. I want the center symbol to scale and stay centered in the rectangle as I scale the size.

AutoCad :: Creating Dynamic Block For PPart (production Parts)

Jun 3, 2011

I am creating a dynamic block for our PPart (production parts) callouts on our drawings. It's an arrow with a line, a bubble on top of the line, and text inside that will say P62, P50, etc. etc. This is my first attempt at dynamic blocks.

From the top quadrant of the bubble to the bottom tip of the arrow I've assigned a Polar Stretch parameter so that way when it's inserted you can grab the grip at the top of the bubble and stretch it in any direction it's needed and it rotates around the arrow point.

My question is if there's a way to keep the text inside the bubble to always be horizontal. I guess it would need to rotate in the opposite direction as the bubble when it's being moved around? Or would I have to set it to be perpendicular or parallel to some point.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Creating Array Within Block That Is Setup With Constraint Parameters

(W/(ceil(GW/12)))

W=Width

GW=Glass width

How do I set up an array with this formula?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Flip Attribute Justification?

Jan 27, 2009

I've built this nifty block for holdowns, but the attributes get all goofy on me when I use the flip command. The problem is that the justification of the attributes does not change when they are flipped - so if I modify the text in the attribute while the block is in the FLIPPED state, how to modify the justification?Check out the attached file to see what I'm talking about. The block instances are numbered so you can follow along:

1. block is inserted
2. attribute text is modified in NOT FLIPPED state - everything is dandy
3. block is flipped
4. attribute text is modified in FLIPPED state - text justification is jacked up
5. block is flipped again, in order to demonstrate the continued jacked-uppedness of the attribute

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Angled Stretch And Flip Actions

Sep 18, 2013

I am working on a dynamic bi-fold door block. I have added actions that adjust the two leaves of the door to correspond to different opening widths and allow the jamb width to be adjusted. I am now trying to add flip actions in both directions. There is a regular swing door block in the drawing and I want the bi-fold door to have basically the same functionality as the swing door does.

I can't seem to get the angled stretch actions required for adjusting the opening width to work after flipping. I have tried including the stretch actions in the selection set for the flip but it does not seem to work.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Alignment Flip - Backwards Attribute Text

Feb 6, 2009

I have been trying to convert my offices blocks to dynamic blocks and this one is giving me a hassle.

Essentially we have a line with an arrow at the end of it to show drainage pathways. I added a multiline attribute so we can add the percentage along the line with a mask. The line, arrow and attribute all need to be able to be aligned perpendicular or tangent to a given line. Everything looks great until the arrow flips sides to work from the other direction and then the text is mirrored backwards.

Mirrtext is set to 0 and I even tried it while in the Beditor to see if there was independent. Multiline or Regular attribute have the same effect as well as if they are locked position or not.

I tried adding a flip, but then the mirrortext settings work just fine and the text won't flip back.

So, in other words, I'd like to turn objects on or off independently from each other... so lets say I have two sets of objects... I want to toggle on only the 3rd item in set A and only the 5th item set B... but each set would function separately from the other set.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Dynamic Blocks Change Visibility State

My process at this point is to: build a selectionset of all 4 Dynamic Blocks with the same effective name, convert the selectionset to a list of entity names, then use a foreach to change the visibility states one at a time. Currently, I get "error: bad argument type: lselsetp <Entity name: 7ffff7b6c90>". <Entity name: 7ffff7b6c90> is the entity name of the first block in the list. I'm guessing it's because the block is found on a non-current tab

2. When I try to save a dynamic block using the Save Block icon under Open/Save, if the dynamic block is not fully constrained, and I click save, when I reopen the block to edit all of my constraints are gone, this has happened twice. Now I just exit by Xing out and saving changes.
