with word EXPLODE i don't meen the explode command. To brake appart part (block or solid).
But i would like to "explode" all parts (blocks or solids) appart and move eatch of them some disstance appart from enother for presentation purposes and then join them together if i would like again with a command to return to original place.
Any way to do that automaticly with a command in Autocad 2008?
is there an easy way to 'explode' an assembly of parts in the traditional sense of explode....to make an exploded parts diagram?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a block of a survey from an outside company which was sent as a block.I am guessing that when it was creating, they un-checked the box that allows it to be exploded.
I would like to edit the block, and without being able to explode it, I have to go into the block editor to do so.Is there a way in block manager to change it so that I can explode the block?
I working with a LISP program which creates some assembly drawings on the fly. For certain parts of the drawing I INSERT other dwg files which of course become blocks. Once in the drawing the users are sometimes wanting to edit the drawings where the blocks are, which makes an explodeable block necessary. But since the drawings are not actually blocks until they are imported this is not an easy thing to resolve. The other thing to keep in mind is that this drawing process is completely automated. The user does not get a chance to interface with it until the drawing is complete. So asking the user to do something as the drawing is being created will not work.

When setting the iProperties for this part I get the material properties applied to both solids. Is it possible to set a material for each solid so that they will be listed separately under iProps ? I suspect this can't be done in which case how would I go about separating the solid bodies ?

Is it possible in ACA2011 to explode a block, but control what layer the pieces go to?
I have a block for a closet rod and shelf , but it always has to be re-sized once in the drawing so i must explode it. since it was made on layer 0 it explodes to that layer and I have to change the items to the proper layer.
I drew several components in one drawing and saved them with WBLOCK. I opened the drawing into which I wanted to insert the blocks but they are no longer soilds. They are just the lines upon which the original soilids were based. What have I done wrong?
UPDATE: I purged the drawing and the blocks inserted correctly.

I have 17 years of Unigraphics / NX and 2 months of AutoCAD 2013 3D experience . I am designing a welded table that has lots of tubes to be aligned to each other. It appears that snaps do not work on solids and there is no way to do a point to point solid move in Inventor. Is there any way to select a solid, snap to a base point, then move or copy to a snap destination point of another solid? Does this need to be done in an assembly drawing? If so, do I have to create a file for each tube and then bring each of them into an assembly? I would like to draw the table as one part. Designing all the parts together. The lack of snaps is strange to me. I can only snap to end points in sketches. No midpoints?? I must be missing something very basic and easy. I have not tried an assembly drawing yet.
I have been working through hours and hours of training videos. Everything but move, copy and paste has been pretty easy. I think I need to find an AutoCAD to Inventor transition video. There are no training courses in my area. So I'm stuck with online training. This problem is never addressed and I can't ask the question on a video.

I am running AutoCAD 2012 Electrical. The source wiring diagrams I am working with have attributed blocks all over the drawing. For my purposes, I dont need to export the data, but I do need to change the drawing. When I use "Burst" or "Explode Attributes to Text" in the Express Tools menu, it does change the attributes to text. However, it throws all the data that is in in the attribute all over the face of the drawing. This is extremely time consuming to delete them as some are micro small text.
I need a command that will explode the attributes to text, turning the blocks into entities, as if there are no blocks at all.
is there BURST command or something similar for AutoCAD 2004 ? I need to explode blocks without losing text content
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there is a way to export or save an assembly drawing to .dwg format (that can be opened by cad or acad mechanical) in such a way that all the parts of the assembly are exported as individual blocks (within the same file) To explain- lets say I have a .i am out of which I create a drawing (.dwg for inventor). Then I export or save this as acad dwg. This acad dwg should have all parts of the assemblies as blocks so that if I want to work on a particular part in the 2d environment of acad, that is possible.

For example can one be made that when stretching its length that once it reaches a certain length automatically split into two sections and keep those 2 sections equal? The reason for this is that I'm using Autocad Architecture and I'm auto-labeling and dimensioning some items I am inserting into the drawing, however the 2d elevation drawing tool in Architecture automatically ignores text and dimensions, so I need a way to explode these into lines so they will show up in the 2d elevation drawings.

When I view my layout or model, my 3D objects appear to be solids, but show some transparency. When I preview or print, they only come out as lines. How can I make these objects solid and print them?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to understand extrusion to 3D solids better. This started when I drew a joined, closed 3dpolyline and found it wouldn't extrude (the shape titled 3D POLYLINES 4 sides joined, in the attached DWG), even though everything lies in the same plane (z=0). It gives the error "segment chord not perpendicular to normal". A chord is part of a circle, and there are no circles in the .dwg, so I don't understand the error. If you join only 2 or 0 sides, then at least 2D extrusion to a surface is allowed, but not if all 4 sides are joined, i.e. one 3D polyline.
If I draw regular polylines overtop the 3D polylines, then join and close them, it extrudes into a solid. This suggests that 3D polylines can't be extruded into a solid when regular polylines can, yet if I draw some scratch 3D polyline geometry that is joined and closed, these 3D polylines will join. It's as if I've found some secret shape that AutoCAD refuses to allow extrusion on.
How it's a 3d problem I though I'd ask anyway) but my pic is my problem (in red). How to get the curve in the solids (inside the red). I tried fillet but that didn't work .

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the main sheet of my drawing I have the overall Parts List. Shows almost all parts except for the few that we don't want to list. On the second sheet I inserted a Parts List to show only parts that are shown in a detail on that page, made the rest non-visible.
On the main sheet there is an item (#13) that has a QTY of 3. Two of those Three are optional parts. What I'm trying to do is insert a custom part into the Parts List, give it an item number of 13A and put in the description "OPTIONAL", then do an Override in the balloon to show 13A.
I get it in the Parts List, Apply it, close it, save the drawing. Looking at the Parts List, item #13A is there, but item #14 is gone. I go back into the Parts List and 13A is there and there's a blue box around the item # and the description. I uncheck Static Value and number 14 shows up (item # and the description).
Then I go over to sheet two, open that Parts List and it lists 13A at the bottom with all the info I added in sheet one and it's non-visible. Go back to sheet one, open the Parts List and there is no 13A to be found.
I am working on an assembly that is designed around a box (bounding box) that could change size. I modeled the bounding box and placed it in a new assembly file. All other parts have been created within the assembly by referencing that bounding box with starting work plane and project geometry.
The problem comes in when I change the bounding box dimensions. The work planes for each additional part, which were defined by the faces of the bounding box, do not move when the sides move. Also, my projected geometry is not updating correctly. This is a simple box, with all 90° corners. So, all associated parts (at this point) are just rectangles.
My parts list on my idw do not update when I make changes to the model. Specifically, I have deleted a bolted connection on my design and replaced with a different components but the parts list table does not update - all I see is a lightning bolt in the browser next to the parts list but I cannot update it here.

I was using virtual parts to add nuts and bolts to a drawing in 2013
I can make a VP bolt in the assembly, no problem, set it's size, weight, etc.
In the VP itself, there is no option for number of bolts I want it to emulate. For arguement's sake the weight was 1 pound per bolt (they are big bolts).
I can go into the BOM and say quantity 60, hit done and save the assembly.
If i open the drawing, the parts lists shows 60lbs for the 60 bolts total - which it should when summing the weight.
The problem is the BOM/assembly. If the weight of my assembly (without bolts) is 10,000lbs, the assembly sees the VP weighing 1lb and says the total weight is 10,001 lbs. Am i going to have to pattern a fake part to get this to work right? Shouldn't the total weight take into account the quantity set in the Bom??
Is there a way to display the density of materials that are assigned to varius parts in the parts list on a drawing? I don't need the mass of the parts I just need the material density to show up next to their respective parts.
For example, if I have a part with [steel mild] material assinged to it (no matter the size) I need a column in the BOM on the drawing to show: 490.684 lbs/ft^3. "Worry when there's something to worry about."
Has any experienced a situation where they were unable to explode a block created with the cut & paste command?
My block "A$C58A67B84" which is an anonymous name created by AutoCAD is a floor plan from a customer in which we need to make changes or additions to however this block acts like when it was created the "Allow Exploding" box was un-checked. I know that was not the case though, since all I did was a regular "Cut & Paste".

When i import this block on it's own, i can explode it to ownerspace with "bref.ExplodeToOwnerSpace();" but when i'm creating the array, i don't have this ability and i'm left with one of my blocks in the array exploded, and the rest not. How do i explode the blocks in the array? When i try to use acEntClone.ExplodeToOwnerSpace(); it doesn't exist and i only have the option of acEntClone.Explode().

I am having one region entity which is not getting exploded.
This region is resultant of solid editing (bolean opearions) on some regions. When I use explode() function to explode this region programatically it returns status as 'eNotApplicable'. And if I try to explode this region manually using EXPLODE command in AutoCAD 2010 it gives message as 'Cannot explode REGION'.
I am not getting why this is causing problem in 2010 only. It is working fine in other AutoCAD versions.
