View 3 RepliesI have received details that have been blocked that I need to edit. When I expode or burst them, the dims text and arrows grow larger than is required for the block and I cannot find any adjustment in the properties to bring them back to the correct size for the detail. Also the leaders lose their point and association with their text and become just a line.
Is there a command that will allow me to edit the block without loosing the current sizing and associations?
I am using AutoCAD 2012 (Electrical). I have a few blocks that I pasted in a drawing with text that is contained in attributes.
I would like to explode these blocks so that I can make some changes to them, but when I do this, I lose the text that is contained in the attributes. After exploding the blocks, I just see the attribute names rather than the text that they originally contained.
I hate to have to re-type all this info. If I could somehow choose to choose to convert the text originally contained in attributes to plain old static text, that would be perfect for me.
I need a lisp code to burst all "blocks with text/attributes inside" in selected area. That means user should select an area (window selection) and lisp program should be find all blocks with TEXT or ATTRIB inside in selected area and then applys "BURST express tools" command to all these blocks in the selected area by user.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen using the TXTEXP command to explode text in Map 2012, the resulting text/lines are 1/12th their original size and automatically move to a different location (see the attached jpg). This behavior occurs in all drawings being edited in Map 2012 (my colleague who is still using 2011 has no problems exploding text, and neither did I until I upgraded to the new version...)
Although the results are odd, they seem to be consistently odd in that 1) the text is always scaled down by 1/12th, and 2) the text/lines always move to the upper right hand portion of the view screen (Model or Paper space, doesn't matter), right below the Minimize/Restore Down/Close icons. Using the explode text command via the ribbon vs. typing it makes no difference. Fiddling with the original text properties (i.e. making it annotative, changing the orientation or Z coordinates, etc.) also makes no difference in the resulting lines.
I am running AutoCAD 2012 Electrical. The source wiring diagrams I am working with have attributed blocks all over the drawing. For my purposes, I dont need to export the data, but I do need to change the drawing. When I use "Burst" or "Explode Attributes to Text" in the Express Tools menu, it does change the attributes to text. However, it throws all the data that is in in the attribute all over the face of the drawing. This is extremely time consuming to delete them as some are micro small text.
I need a command that will explode the attributes to text, turning the blocks into entities, as if there are no blocks at all.
how come the attributes of inviseble visibility states are visible after the explosion with the command BURST

I working with a LISP program which creates some assembly drawings on the fly. For certain parts of the drawing I INSERT other dwg files which of course become blocks. Once in the drawing the users are sometimes wanting to edit the drawings where the blocks are, which makes an explodeable block necessary. But since the drawings are not actually blocks until they are imported this is not an easy thing to resolve. The other thing to keep in mind is that this drawing process is completely automated. The user does not get a chance to interface with it until the drawing is complete. So asking the user to do something as the drawing is being created will not work.

I have a block for a closet rod and shelf , but it always has to be re-sized once in the drawing so i must explode it. since it was made on layer 0 it explodes to that layer and I have to change the items to the proper layer.
with word EXPLODE i don't meen the explode command. To brake appart part (block or solid).
But i would like to "explode" all parts (blocks or solids) appart and move eatch of them some disstance appart from enother for presentation purposes and then join them together if i would like again with a command to return to original place.
Any way to do that automaticly with a command in Autocad 2008?
At my job, we are 15 drawers using acad 2008 and 2006. For some reson, on 1 computer, when the guy explode a block, acad delete that block insted exploding it. It make the just for some block, not all block. It make this with acad 2006 and acad 2008 but just with that computer.

I wrote this little piece of code (attached) that explode all the blocks in the current drawing. This is magical, compared with what we had to do in VBA.
This works perfectly but now I want to go deeper and managed blockreferences with attributes.Based on my code, I can determine if oBTR.HasAttributeDefinitions is true or false.
If the blockreference has attributes, I suppose I will have to use Explode instead of ExplodeToOwnerSpace.
My first question is, using explode, I need before to know in which space the blockreference is inserted (Model or any layout) so to insert the exploded entities correctly. So, is it possible from a blockreference to get its own SpaceId?
An another idea I had is to edit the blockreference (not the block definition) to replace attributes with text...
I have lost my place from content center command. I have desktop content installed, but the drop-down under the Place button is missing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe recently updated all of our software at my company from 2010 architectural desktop to 2013 autocad. We do a lot of architectural work where we use the "wall" functions to draw our floorplans. I have noticed that the walls are disappearing on some files and not on others. Or we will only be able to see the outside line of the wall, but not the interior, which results in an undesirable appearance to the floorplans.
I have also run across these error messages when opening the files, I dont know if they are related or not:
"Unhandled exception C0000005 (access violation reading 0xffffffff) at address E43AA180h"
and

I have been working on a drawing with 3 different dynamic blocks for several weeks and everything has been working perfectly. However, all of a sudden this afternoon, the text in all 3 dynamic blocks disappeared and will not display on the screen in paper or model space, and does not print.
As best I recall, I was creating a polyline viewport when this text disappeared.
I cannot turn the text on in these dynamic blocks. The text in on layer 0 which is on, and is unlocked and unfrozen. Additionally I have turned on, unlocked and unfroze all layers in the dwg and this does not work. I have also checked the text layer in the block editor and it is on layer 0.
When I click on any of the blocks, all the information appears to be correct, ie: door numbers, text style, etc. The text, however, just does not appear. Also I have never set any invisible text parameters and when I open the block editor, nothing in the invisible text area is selected or select-able.
Previous versions of this drawing, which I saved yesterday, display all block text perfectly. Perhaps there is a setting I accidentally hit which caused this problem?
I have tried repeatedly turning on all the layers, unfreezing, unlocking, changing parameters in the Style menu. I closed Autocad and turned the computer completely off and back on again.
I was telling an engineer the other day that I could probably insert his general notes from MS Word into AutoCAD and create nice clean pdf files of the CD sheets that he could email to clients. On second inspection I could tell that, yes I could copy, paste it in, but fixing all the formatting would be a nightmare. Is there any way to retain the formatting such as numbering, tabs etc. when bringing it in to AutoCAD? The idea is to have it be an editable document, so I don't want to just bring it in as a OLE object, pdf or scan.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAlmost all of our blocks have dynamic properties and I've made a number of lisp commands that use this info.
How do I stop someone from using refedit command on dynamic blocks? I have a problem with one guy. I've explained to him many times to use bedit command or come see me and I'll modify the block. He continues to use the command
I do not want to use lisp to ruin his day... but I will if this continues. Any setting I can use to stop this and keep me from going to a dark place
I have a block that we use often (it's a connector block), and I have already completed the Single Lines with said block. Now the client wants an additional piece of information that I would need to add as an additional attribute to this block.
This block is dynamic, with a visibility and a flip parameter, and two attributes, Line# and Cable/Panel.
I'm going into BEDIT for the block, adding an attribute, and deleting the Cable/Panel Attribute to make room for the new att. When I exit out of the Block Editor, the new attribute doesn't exist, and the Cable/Panel attribute is still there. What's really weird is that the Cable/Panel att used to be in the flip parameter, and now it's not. It stays when you flip the block.
I am trying to insert blocks but in the command line it says invalid, if I copy & paste the block in it works fine but as soon as i try to use the insert command it will not work.
Probably useful to tell you that I have around 60 blocks each saved as a DWG file and all of them are saved in 1 folder so there is no other crap in there.
the thing that really baffles me though is the fact that after I have pasted the block in to the drawing, the insert command works for that block.
