AutoCad :: Won't Show Viewports In Realistic Shade Plot
Jul 16, 2012
Take a look below at my viewports and take the following into consideration:
AutoCAD 2012- CADPipe 12.0
Viewports are 2D Wireframe
Shade Plot is set to Realistic
Bottom right-hand viewport has been 'clipped'
All viewports have been '3d-Clip'ed
All text is done in Paperspace
All files have been X-reffed into a plot tab drawing (over 20 files)
I've created 15 other tabs using the same layout as this one with no issues
Preview shows all viewports, but when it prints, only the left two come out and parts of the other two.
This is how it looks in my Paperspace Tab.Paperspace Viewport Layout.jpg
This is how it's SUPPOSED to look, and looks in 'Print Preview'.Print Preview.jpg
This is what comes out after I print. Final Print.jpg
Never had this problem before. Can't figure out why it's not printing the two to the right. Viewports are set to 'on' and 'display viewport objects'. All pipe is in te same layer (just on seperate drawings). All are set to printable.

2 of 3 viewports in paper space do not show up in print preview, nor will they print. The viewports are all on the same layer, defpoint layer. Even if I create 3 new viewports and erase the old ones, still can only print preview one viewport and only one viewport will print.

I am having some difficulties when printing via dwg to pdf a rendered shade plot viewport in a layout. However, there is no problem using realistic shade plot. I am using the following materials: Metal | Alumininum (Anodized Blue, Anodized Blue-Gray), Plastic and Glass and the result is not good as all. I am also looking on a tutorial on strategic place to place light for even more realistic rendering.

I am having difficulty with the display of my point numbers and description when plotting. I am doing piping desing and utilizing Civil 3D points for the coardinates and elevations to display in a point table. For my viewport, in the properties dialogue box, under the Shade Plot option, I have selected Legacy Hidden due to needing my pipes to display properly only to have my points not display properly. If I opt for Legacy Wireframe or As Displayed, my points display correctly but my pipes do not. Any clue as to how I can have both display properly?

I have a bunch of pdf underlays in model space with four viewports referencing them in one paperspace layout. The viewports are on their own non-plot layer and the pdf underlays are on a plottable layer. This isn't an issue on the original dwg that I copied them from.
-Everything appears fine in paperspace (see FIG. 1)
-When I go to plot, only the viewport on the right shows up. (see FIG. 2)
-If I move the viewports on the left to the right side, they plot.(see FIG 3)
-When I move the original right viewport to the left side it no longer plots. (NOT SHOWN)
-If I toggle each viewport in the original layout and draw a random line in model space all four of them plot(see FIG. 4)
-I've checked the vp and pdf underlay layers and properties-all are good
-I've tried creating new vp's and still have same issues
-tried creating a new dwg, copied in the pdf underlays and still have same issue

I am plotting a layout with several viewports as a PDF, and the viewports are not plotting as displayed. Everything else on the layout plots perfectly.
I've attached two pictures:
1) asdisplayed.jpg is what I want
2) pdfoutput.jpg is what is outputed. As you can see the lines are (1) greyed + (2) do not have the lineweight I desire.
1) asdisplayed:
2) pdfoutput:
Here are my settings:
1) Plot style table: acad.ctb. I modified the Color 250 to be completely black so that text would be black. I've set the color for every object in modelspace to color 250 as well (no dither).
2) Plotter: DWG to PDF.pc3
3) Paper size: ANSI expand B
4) Plot scale: 1:1
5) Plot object lineweights: checked!
6) Plot with plot styles: checked!
7) Plot paperspace last: checked!
8 ) "Shade plot" setting for viewports: all set to "as displayed"
9) All viewports set to "Hidden" visual style
NOTE: I've noticed changing to visual style to 2D wireframe or using isolines tends to output exactly as displayed (keeps the lineweight + the black color / not greyed out. I need to use the hidden visual style for my purposes.
Also I always get the option to update shading plots for viewports and I've clicked both options - both get same results of the modified viewports.

when I insert a block that is made up of different layer lines and shapes then they only show up in the model tab. The other layouts I have won't show the blocks even though the same layers are turned on and unfrozen in these other layout viewports just like the model space. It's looking like trying to use multilayer dynamic blocks will be pretty useless unless they work in every layout viewport and not just in model space.

For some reason, my plot style is applied to my viewports. So for example, when I choose a monochrome plot style for the layout, the view ports in that layout display in black and white. I want to disable this. Is there a system command to turn this off?

I am using autocad 2011..I have a problem with printing to scale.I have completed a drawing in model space with a 1:1 ratio, all my units are in mm.I have created 3 different view ports in paper space to show different aspects of my drawing, each view port has a different scale.
The whole drawing is to be printed on A2 size paper.
My main viewport (which contains the primary aspect of my drawing) is to be drawn to scale. When I click on this view port Autocad states that has a scale of 0.008583 – what does this mean? See picture 1..When I print the document the scale is set to 1 inches = 25.4.
All I want to do is print my drawing so that it fits onto an A2 page, but the main view port is to be printed to a scale. I want to scale to be sensible some like 1 in 200 or 1 in 50 etc so that other people can use a ruler to work out the real life dimension.

When printing a paper space viewport in Conceptual Visual Style mode, text objects are visible in the print preview but not in the printout on paper. Why are they not hidden in the preview if they are not going to be printed?

I'd like the viewports to show only the applied textures without any kind of directional lighting but I just can't figure out how to do that.
I removed all lights so the model was pitch black then tried changing the ambient color in the environment panel but it had no affect.

I'm running Autocad Architecture 2013. My .dwg has about 15 pdf's in it (from a consultant that does hand drawings that I scan in, and use the image manager to insert into my drawing). The PDF's range from under 1mb, to 10mb. The PDFs are in model space and within my various drawing sheets, I show them in my drawing sheets via multiple viewports. I noticed that when I go to plot a sheet that has pdfs shown in viewports, and click on PLOT PREVIEW, the PDF's don't show up - everything else shows up, linework, jpegs, etc, but not the PDF's! I fiddled with the viewports and noticed that if some part of the PDF's image frame was visible in the Viewport, the PDF would appear in Print Preview. But if the viewport sat directly over the PDF's image frame, the PDF would not show up in the Plot Preview!!!
Could it be I've exceeded the maximum number of Viewports in my entire .dwg? (I have about 16 sheets), Or, could it be some mysterious autocad system variable that I'm running up against.

Was wondering if there are some ways in converting a highly realistic rendering of an object generated in a 3D program into a more illustrative, simplified, alittle less realistic version in Photoshop?
The object has plenty of silver reflections, HDRI environment map reflections, precise shadows and highlights, etc. I just want to make it look more generic and not as polished I guess.
Are there filters or plugins that will do this in a plug in play method or is it more prodedural and manual?

I have received a ctb file from someone else and need to use it for my dwgs - but it does not appear in the plot style table roll down of the page set dialogue box? Other ctb files are visible. I have used stylesmanager to locate where to copy it in, and done so. I have tried the command CONVERTPSTYLES in case my dwg was not color style based but I get this message:
THIS COMMAND CONVERTS A COLOR DEPENDENT PLOT STYLE DRAWING TO USE NAMED PLOT STYLES. YOU SHOULD CONVERT YOUR COLOR DEPENDENT PLOT STYLES TABLES (CTB FILES) TO NAMED PLOT STYLE TABLES (STB FILE) WITH CONVERTCTB BEFORE YOU CONVERT YOUR DRAWING.
Doesn't this mean that my dwg is already a color dependent plot style dwg? I have successfully copied and used this ctb file somewhere else yesterday, and feel I am doing the exact same thing, so very frustrated and lost. I really need to get these dwgs out!

I have a lot of sheet DWGs with a single layout in each. The layouts have several viewports into model space.
Is there a way to export out the layout tab where the viewport contents have been converted and placed into the layout space?
Ideally, I'm hoping to basically convert the viewport heavy paperspace into a dumb model space layout.

I can go back to my 2010 version, and it plots fine. What gives?

I have one drawing per file at model tab. When I need to plot a multiple page file, I use:
Print > Batch Plot.
The problem is that I have to set plot configurations ( plot style table, plot area, paper size, etc) in each file before use Batch Plot.
Now I received 722 files with a wrong Plot Style Table. For this time I change the associated *.ctb file at Plot Style folder, but I will need to associate the right *.ctb to each drawing. It's also common to have to change other properties.

The code I'm using is supposed to go through all of the layouts and freeze the specified layer in the single viewport that is defined on that layout. It works for some viewports, but not for others. A "List" of the objects show the viewports are the same. I have a LiSP routine that gets me more info about selected objects. The first is a viewport that does not freeze the specified layer, the second does freeze the layer. Here is the code I'm using:
Public Sub FreezeNewLayerInVPs(ByVal pageNumber) Dim doc As Document = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocumentDim db As Database = doc.Database Dim layerToFreeze As String = "DETAIL_" & pageNumber Using tr As Transaction = db.TransactionManager. Start Transaction( )Dim layTable As LayerTable = DirectCast(tr.GetObject(db.LayerTableId, OpenMode.ForRead),
[code]...

My company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?

What it boils down to is that I'm the only inventor seat and need to use dwg for layouts in my work environment so that others can edit notes and print if needed. We also always plot to pdf and then print hardcopies as necessary.
Many of our drawings require ISO/axon/perspective views of models, and almost always shaded views. I can plot from inventor without issue, but when I plot from autocad, the shaded views plot only partially shaded with the rest wireframe or completely wireframe. I attached a pdf example. The view on the left should appear shaded the same as the views to the right.
I've adjusted every print setting I can think of, set shaded views to offline only for using bitmap, and tried low, mid and higher resolutions for the bitmap dpi setting.
We have product design suite 2013 and I'm on a windows 7 x64 machine.

I am xref'ing in a floor plan (provided by a client) & I need it to print at a lighter shade of grade. The information that I am adding will be on my own layers and will be darker. What I need is to change all of the various lineweights from the xref'd file to a single gray lineweight, but not change the linetypes. I have seen this done, but it was a long time ago, & it was with an older version of AutoCAD. For the life of me, I cannot recall how it was done. Any simple way to do this without phyiscally changing my original copy of the drawing.

I am a Mac user and new to AutoCAD. I am enrolled in a CAD class this semester and the instructor for my session is requiring Windows. Supposedly this is because AutoCAD for Mac does not allow for proper printing on their plot style setting.
I understand that I can install Bootcamp and Windows on my computer, but I'd really like to avoid that if I can. If I were to do my work on my Mac and then digitally transfer my files to a PC for printing purposes, would my files become corrupted or compromised in any way?

Where else do they keep this setting? I only have found it in Active Layout in extended dada
(entget (vlax-vla-object->ename(vla-get-activelayout (vla-get-activedocument(vlax-get-acad-object)))) '("*"))
The last pice of extended data is:
("PLOTTRANSPARENCY" (1071 . 0))
When i change it to 1
(setq layout(vla-get-activelayout (vla-get-activedocument(vlax-get-acad-object))))
(vla-getXdata layout "PLOTTRANSPARENCY" 'type 'data)
(vlax-safearray-fill data '("PLOTTRANSPARENCY" 1))
(vla-setXdata layout type data)
it stays there (extended data), but the setting in Plot dialog box doesn't change!!! And it still prints no transparency.
It takes to save the drawing and reopen it again to see the change.
The command -PLOT does not have this setting as well, so my options back to VBA or Lisp, but HOW?
