For some reason, my plot style is applied to my viewports. So for example, when I choose a monochrome plot style for the layout, the view ports in that layout display in black and white. I want to disable this. Is there a system command to turn this off?

Here's my problem: I have a customized plot style table "SK.ctb". I have it saved both in the appropriate folders on my computer and in a shared folder on the network. Usually when I am working in a file and open the plot window, my plot table is available in the list at the upper right "Plot style table (pen assignments)".
Right now I am working in a drawing that was sent to me by another firm. They of course didn't send me their pen assignment tables, not that I really care as I would rather edit the layer colors if necessary, but use my own. The problem is that in the plot window it is only showing their plot styles - none of mine! Theirs are all listed as missing, but I can't get it to even look for the plot tables I usually use.
Our office has recently moved the folder containing our ctb files. The Plot Style Table Search Path has been correctly set on each computer, however when attempting to plot, Autocad cannot find the ctb files.
Having problem moving and repathing the location of the plot style tables?
We have a person in the office that would like to create their own .ctb file that we would like to have them to access but they will also need to access our .ctb files (Standard). We currently restrict access to the .ctb files as they can be alterered leading to problems for everyone printing. Is there a way to create another path so they we can have a locked folder of .ctb files and an unlocked folder for .ctb files.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere is a font and table style called "Legend" that is automatically generating and can not be purged.
I have looked through all the start up files, all the lisp files and can't find anything that would be creating them!
They appear in any file I open, new or old and even if I open a template file.
I have attached a file that should be empty but you will (or should) see both a font and table style called "Legend".
(FYI I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 as AutoCAD 2010)
I've edited the plot style table in the past to do things such as change yellow to print black. I've also successfully used it to select monochrome to print B&W. Currently it's not working. I can select a different plot style, apply it and see it look correct in paperspace. However, when I preview or print it, I still get yellow, printing yellow or if I try monochrome, it will still print in color.
I make sure to click apply to layout and I've also tried restarting ACAD and neither seems to work. I've also tried using the page setup manager and it still prints differently than what I select. Is there some other variable I can turn on or off that I am not aware of?
Is it possible to copy a line in Plot Style Table, in my case red nr 1, and have two with different linetype?
I have a drawing where this specific line and the text belonging to it should be in red, (line 1) and the lines dashed. If I in my Plot Style Table make line 1 dashed, the text get dashed too.
At the moment I have put another color to the dashed lines, but if there is a way to have two red nr1 lines with different linetype .
I need to change many drawings from our old Plot Style to a new version.
I was going to use a script to also purge and complete a few other house cleaning items...
what is the best way to change the plot table from old.ctb to new.ctb (they are not named that BTW.)

AutoCAD - Why does the Normal plot style plot in color? Black seems to make a lot more sense. Almost everyone in Architecture uses black prints most frequently so that should be the default. And you can't adjust Normal to all black. So what was AutoDesk's reasoning?

When plotting and doing a 'plot preview' Acad crashes. This happens with ALL dwgs no matter which of our 2 printers is chosen. This is only happening to one computer in the office. All computers are running Windows 7 Professional with AutoCAD Civil 3d 2011. If the plot is sent without a preview everything if fine with no crash.

I have a table created from a datalink using TABLE command. I want to have it use a fill color of 255 in order to mask the objects behind it. I cannot seem to modify the table style, and using fill in Excel doesn't seem to the affect Autocad table.
As you know, when I create a table from a datalink I am not allowed to choose which style.
I don't like using wipeouts to provide a background mask, because they never seem to work when plotting from paper space.
How I can apply fill to the table, or otherwise mask the pbjects behind the table?

new at autocad 2012 (previous CAD07 user)im having trouble setting up my page, never had a problem with this before..... i need an A4 scaled drawing in paper space.
my current setup....
paper size: A4
plot area: extents, ticked centre the plot
scale: 1:1
the result: titleblock cut off on left and right sides
its only when i need A4 size (red margins!) A3, A2 etc are fine....i dont know what else is needed? I installed CAD12 only a few days ago and im the first and only AutoCAD user at my work. Im not sure if there's some intial setup settings that are required.

Upon setting up a drawing for plotting (the problem is not printer specific) the "Print Preview" gets stuck in a loop where I am unable to exit if I choose to cancel or alter the settings. I am forced to go ahead and send the plot. If iI immediately go back and run the PLOT command again nothing happens... no dialog box, no error nothing. I must then go to any other open dwg, do a save, and then go back to the original dwg. Then the PLOT command will again work, however, still getting stuck in the preview loop.
My linear dimension command is not working and I noticed I have no dimensions showing in my dims style manager. When I go to set up...I have no dimensions showing in the preview.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a table style in ACAD 2012 with all of the cells formatted to what I need. The trouble begins when I bring in a BIAS excel data link to populate the table. I have tried every option in the insert table steps and have even tried all the different options under the modify excel link options. I have toggled the use excel formatting on and off, which does change the table size a small bit, but does not allow the table style to take affect.
I have attached a screen shot of the "good" and "bad" tables. The bad table is what the good table comes in as and it is also what happens everytime the table link updates. It always reverts back to the bad style and then I have to change the table back to the good one by hand - changing each column individually.
Is there a way to attach a data link to a table with the table style holding its shape and formatting?
This happens on all of my drawings and using all kinds of different excel links.

Excuse my awkwardness but I'm self taught on AutoCAD & have managed fine for last few months but have encountered an issue this evening I can't resolve. I've produced drawings, basic they may be, but when preview them the actual drawing area is barely noticable & when export to pdf it practically prints a blank page. I have very simple items in drawing, stockpiles, excavations test locations, and have been producing pdf's fine, even as recently as this morning using the same cadfile. But what ever I've managed to do since then has changed something and I can't resolve the issue.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOK, since installing autocad 2012, and installing the office profile, which directs to a folder on our server to our plot style folder. Fairly typical medium office setup where settings come from an AutoCAD Settings folder, from support, fonts CUI etc etc.
There is the plot style wizard shortcut in this folder. In past releases this has been ignored, however now every time you open a new drawing we receive the error prompt, "The following shortcuts in the search were invalid and ignored" and then indicates the file path location. What's the deal?!
Now while i shouldn't have to, yes i have simply attempted to delete the shortcut in question but it showed up again.
I want to export a dwg to pdf. It appears to do it, but doesn't. Keep getting
"ERROR: There were no plot table sheets in the current operation."
How does one convert an stb file to ctb. I have tried using the CONVERTPSTYLES command to no avail. After selecting the stb for conversion, i am getting an error message stating that the stb does not contain a color mapping table and cannot be used to convert drawings.

In previous versions it wasn't a problem. Short of opening every single file and doing the convertpstyles I can't seem to figure out a quick way to do it. Is there an option somewhere that I can change to make the Publish use the Color Plot Style Mode so that it will recognize the monocrome.ctb file?

I have a stationing line. I've used the block PTTICL to make ticks. The ticks display perfectly. I'll run through a plot preview and the ticks show on the plot preview. I push plot go to the printer and the ticks are not plotted.
I've checked the layer. They are on a layer that should print.
I've checked the block. The block is created on a layer that should print.
I've run through a number of options regarding the alignment label properties and found "display" to be equal to "true."
Everything else plots just fine. Only the station label ticks refuse to plot. My project is fairly short so the work around was to put a poly line right on top of the tick mark.
