AutoCad :: Which Property Controls Length Of Leader
Dec 7, 2012Which property controls the length of leader.

Part I :When I place a diameter/radius leader, it is a set length.I can move it all around the circle I'm dimensioning but the length of this leader is set. It is really short and it sucks to have to place the dimension then move it to where I want it as a second step.
Is there a setting that will allow me to drag this dimension where I want and make the leader as long as I desire?
Part II:In Autocad 2009, if you wanted to change a leader location, you could pick the text grip and it would move the end of the leader to that point then place the dimension from that point. Now picking the grip places the text and I have no control over the angle of the leader (our standards require leaders to always be a set angle from the object!)
Is there anyway to prevent AutoCAD from converting a MTEXT leader with a block element attached to a BLOCK leader when doing a copy/paste? See screen shot.

Is there a way to control which of two 'Graphic Property definitions' are used via a formula property with a IF, Then, condition statement?

I want to add the leader part to the leader that is created when I drag a Station Offset label. This would be the part in a three point leader that goes horizontal for a short distance before the label text begins, similar to how a multi-leader is created. Looks weird having the C3D labels be the only "leadered" noted be without the landing.
I have two related properties... One is a formula property, the other is a manual property.
In the formular property I'd like to set the value of the manual property.
When I use qleader with mtext annotation , The arrow and texts are inserted as two unit. I can rember there was a facility to use this two objects as a one unit.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to change the length of a line based on the length of an attribute?
I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).
I was wondering if there is a way with DB's to have a line "follow" or "grow" with the content/value length of an attribute. Maybe some method of linking the attribute width to length of the line? Essentially, it would work just like turning on the underline setting when typing in mtext editor (or any program with an underline option for that matter), expect that the line could be placed anywhere, and would not have to reside directly below the text.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWith using superelevation wizard in Civil 3d 2012, changing the lane width is not affecting the resulted values of transion length and run-off length, Is that correct ? ( as civil is using standerd AASHTO tables which assume that lane width typically is 3.6m )
Also, There is only 2 tables for 2-lanes and 4-lanes roadway, Is it for total road width or for one directon only, and what about different no. of lanes ?
I am creating a block with attributes for a standard job. I have (4) total attributes in this block (for example: panel type, qty, length in imperial, length in mertic)
I would like my length in metric attribute to automatically populate based on the input from length in imperial.
Is this possible?
Ok, I'm sure there is a very simple way to fix this that I just haven't yet discovered. When I insert a stacked dimension in the top line of my leader text, the spacing gets automatically adjusted for the hight of the stacked dimension and it adjusts the leader line up so that it actually passes through my top line. Can this be avoided? I have attached a picture for reference.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to add a Leader Text to lable a part- referencing the Part Number or whatever, move the text close to the edge of the part, to remove the leader/arrow and make the txt rotate 90deg to be vertical. I have messed with style settings for a new Vertical Txt style, and Vert Dim style -(pointed to the Vert Txt style and adjusted Notes and Leaders tab)
i don't understand why in the Format Text window the "rotation" box is always grayed out. can you unlock it?
I have been trying to find a method to extract custom properties from the custom property bag.
I have been able to extract the property value, using the "GetProperty" and the associated "GetValue" method, this method works when I know exactly what property name I am looking for. What do you do when you don't know the property name?
here is my code snippet..
dim myProps as acsmcustompropertybag = mysheet.getcustompropertybag
dim myProp as iacsmcustompropertyvalue = myprops.getproperty("SOMENAME")
dim myPV as string = myProp.GetValue
what I want to do is:
dim myProps as acsmcustompropertybag = mysheet.getcustompropertybag
dim myPN as string = ??????????.tostring
dim myProp as iacsmcustompropertyvalue = myprops.getproperty(myPN)
dim myPV as string = myProp.GetValue

what dimension setting controls the distance in which dimension text is offset when it doesn't fit between extension lines.
See attached image for example.

I want my application to include a useful Ribbon interface that displays custom properties, read from my custom objects.
I have found the existing Ribbon Control Elements, but I want to use custom controls, not the pre-canned controls.
Is there a generic programmable input box for the AutoCAD Ribbon?
My LT 2012 for Mac does not show a tool for "display all layers" in the layer pallet. I've fished around for some option to add this tool or expand the upper row of existing tools, but can't seem to find it. Does this feature exist in LT for Mac? If so, any guidance on how to make this tool active? Right now, I have to select all layers in the panel and then click the display button of one to change all selected, but I notice in tutorials for Windows based versions there is an icon for this function.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm developing a routine that uses a windows form to gather data from the user. For a lot of this I need info for the Left side & the Right side. I have pretty much finished writing the code to take care of the Right side. I have 40 properties now all with "Right" in their names in anticipation of needing corresponding "Left" ones. I have numerous textboxes, checkboxes, & radio buttons on the form along with various input validation methods used to set these 40 properties.
I could just copy all of this code & replace "Right" with "Left", but there are about 500 lines of code (hard to tell since I use a lot of white space), and that seems rather inefficient, especially if something needs to change.
I'm starting to think that maybe I should develop this into one custom control that could be used for both sides. Any alternative ways of dealing 40 right properties & 40 left properties and all that goes behind making those properties work.

VB.NET loses me again.
In my VBA program I had a function to read/write an external data file to retain and recall user settings on a form.
The nature of the function was quite simple:
For Each oObject as Control in Me.Controls
If TypeOf oObject is ComboBox
Do my thing
ElseIf etc.
......
end if
Next
This code is almost identical in my VB.NET references, but when I try to run it I find the "Controls.Count" value for the form is only 1 (that object is a Tab control) thus I'm unable to access the individual controls with this code.
There is also a "ControlCollection" object, but this appears as "Nothing". Where should I go from here?
Our office recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2005 to the new version AutoCAD Architecture 2013. I’m having difficulty finding the layer override toolbar for the lines. I have found that I can change the color and/or line type of an line in the properties dialog box but in AutoCAD 2005 there was a toolbar specifically assigned for the color, line type and line weight of a line. Dose that toolbar still exist in 2013 or do they control this in another location.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do we use Vault with an outside vendor that controls a large ‘master layout’ directory of AutoCAD drawings that is given to us each week by way of FTP? How do we update the files in vault without having to check out dozens of files or folders then copy the new files (which often have missing xrefs that have to be fixed before Vault will accept them) into the working directory then check back in the files. This is way too time consuming and complicated to do on a weekly basis.
The simplest procedure we can think of looks like this:
1) Download new set of drawings.
2) Open these drawings in AutoCAD reference manager to fix/remove broken xrefs so Vault will accept them.
3) Check out the entire folder that needs to be updated from Vault
4) Paste the new drawings over the drawings in MyDocsVaultVendor
5) Check all the drawings in through Vault, solving any vaulting issues that may have been missed in the reference manager.
Where the heck do I find the offset which controls the distance between the profile grid and my profile data band?
I have compared settings between ones that look the way I want and I'm just not seeing it.
(The attached doc shows you what I'm up to)
When opening a parcel (xml) report created from AutoCAD Civil3D 2012, Internet Explorer 10 displays message stating "internet explorer restricted this webpage from running scripts or activex controls."
In Internet Explorer 9, we would previously just click "allow blocked content" and the General Legal Description dialogue box would work correctly, collapse, expand, show information when buttons are clicked, etc. The attached file does function properly with IE9, but not IE10.
After upgrading to IE10, the General Legal Description Dialogue box will not collapse, expand, the dropdown buttons will not function properly, and information is not displayed correctly after clicking "allow blocked content"
I am assuming there is a new security feature in IE10 that will not allow the script/activex control to function properly in the .html file that was created. I have reduced Security levels in IE10, and also changed settings under Tools > internet options > advanced > checked boxes: "allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer," "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer," and "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid." and restarted computer. This did not change the issue as stated above. I have also opened the html file in IE 10 64-bit and firefox, and still get the same results.
Attached is the file I am troubleshooting with. I have changed the file extension to .txt. If you download the file, just change it back to .html extension.

What format does the Color Property need to be in? But the Color wants numeric but accepts a manually entered 0xFFFFFFFF
Also, HEX is not an option in a SDF etc. right now it is stored as String "FFFFFFFF" in my properties - I can try to use ToInt32() or ToFloat() without luck
How and what format do we need in the Property? I have tried converting to Decimal and Int - but it only accepts manually typed color - see below.
