AutoCad :: Unreconciled New Layers Existing In Drawing?
Oct 17, 2011How do I prevent this from popping up, more specifically, how do I keep it from popping up during a publish?

View 9 RepliesI'm getting this msg and I don't know what it means. Never seen it before.....
"the properties of these layers should be evaluated to ensure they display as intended in paper space viewports and in layer states.
view the list of unreconciled new layers in the layer properties manager"
I've got a big drawing with a ton of information in it. To create specific layouts, I xref it into another drawing, turn layers on/off, change colors, etc to highlight some specific part of the work that that particular drawing deals with.
Every time I reload the xref, ALL the xref'd layers show up as unreconciled. I know that I can ctrl+a and right click and reconcile them, but any changes I have previously made to those layers (color, etc.) default back to how the layers are displayed in the original.
LAYEREVAL is set to 0 in both drawings. New Layer Notification is UNchecked along with all sub-boxes) in the Layer Settings dialog. I've never had this happen before unless the layer truly was new in the original drawing - this time it's every layer every time. Also, LAYEREVALCTL and LAYERNOTIFY are set to 0 in both drawings, though I'm pretty sure these are the same system variables that are manipulated in the Layer Settings dialog.
AutoCAD 2008 introduced layer notification, which is a feature that lets you know when new layers are added to your drawing or xrefs you have attached. My experience is that very few use this feature to better control. One reason may be that reconciling of the new layers are not as simple as it could be.
In a multidisciplinary environment this is very useful when you reference the second discipline models into your model. You will be notified when new layers are added to other discipline models. When AutoCAD notify you about new layers, the idea is then that you should check if this is relevant to your discipline.
The problem as I see it is that there is no easy way to verify the new layers. What if LAYWALK command had a list of layer filters so you could choose "Unreconciled new layer" filter. Then the LAYWALK command had been the tool to easily verify the new layers.
I worked on X'ref DWG. After editing the referenced file and reloading the X'ref, i get a message saying ' Unreconciled New Layers'.
What could be the reason for this and how to rectify this?
The subject pretty much sums it up. How do I turn off the unreconciled layers thing? I don't want it on a per drawing basis, I want it to be off for good.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are some layers in my drawing that won't delete in the layers properties manager. I don't know why. It gives me 4 possible reasons:
- It might be layer 0 or a Defpoint (whatever that is).
- It is the current layer
- It is an Xref dependent layer
- It is a layer containing objects
But none of these, to my knowledge, apply. There could be things on the layer that I'm just not seeing, but I've looked thoroughly. I even zoomed out to the extents, highlighted the whole area, and clicked the erase tool, but it still won't go away. I got the file from another computer, so it might be an Xref dependent layer and the Xref'ed files just didn't come with it. How would I be able to tell - and how could I remove the Xref dependency?
Other than that, is there any other reason a layer won't delete? Can I force it to delete?
How to automate the unreconciled layer list to automatically freeze all the layers in the list when opening drawing. This would force the user to select what layers they want shown rather than freezing / turning off the layers they don't want.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a new document with new layers, but paste in an existing floor plan since it's the shell I need to be using. When I copy clip and insert into new file, all the layers import with it. I transferred everything onto 0 layers and went into my layer manager to try and delete the extra layers and it says i cannot delete o, xref dependent, etc. I want to create my own layers, and then assign the lines in the plan myself onto the new layers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there's a way to change/add to the list of available lineweights in the dropdown lists in the layer manager. I want to have a thickness of 0.125", but that isn't available. I found that if I issue the STYLESMANAGER command, I can edit lineweights in existing .ctb/.stb files, but I don't know now to transfer that to be available in an existing drawing. Can I just assign a ctb/stb style to my drawing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing at AutoCad and i want to change its coordinate like that
X'= X
Y'= -Z
Z'= Y
I know how to do it with the points (export their coordinates in a text and then transform the text and then import again at an Autocad) . But thus i loose all the line, arcs, etc .
How do I to set and to see or show the existing grips point when drawing new line?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat it is, my client has asked me create 4 different size transit frames all similar in design. Now I use the skeletal modelling technique to create all my models and this one is very easy to edit, all I have to do is change a couple of sketch dimensions and the transit frame assembly will update to suit any given size.
So, I have completed the drawings set for the first one (There is about 7 drawings in total, each containing about 5 sheets), and I would like to just copy the whole assembly and drawing set for the next frame, and I would just change the dims in the main sketch to suit the new size of transit frame that is required, BUT I dont want to alter the original frame.
Usually to do this, I would create a pack n go then open up that pack n go project in design assistant and change all the names of all the files, then place all these files into another project.
Now doing this is VERY time consuming, as if I am renaming all the files, then I am going through around 1000 files to do so!!!Even after I do all this I still run into some problems with assemblies looking for part files or idw's still picking up and showing the old project assemblies.
Is there an easier, more efficient way of doing this?Also, I would like to add that each of the 4 transit frames would have their own project BUT all 4 projects will be inside 1 parent folder within the vault. This is just the way that we structure or file system as each folder is for the entire job.

Is there a way to import a template into an existing drawing?
I created a template, AFTER the drawing was created, and would like the drawing to HAVE that template.
I'm new to VBA in AutoCAD I've played with Inventor VBA a bit, but the API appears to be drastically different.
I need to manipulate existing splines on a drawing by joining them together via VBA. To achieve this manually, the user would use the command SPLINEDIT and go from there. What is the equivalent, or how do I access the command in VBA?
If you look at the attached drawing you will see my drawing sheets. The problem I have is regarding the attributes used for the 'Checked By' section of my sheet.
Yesterday I added a 'Size' tag to my sheet so this shows whats size paper the sheet is to be printed at. To make this fit I needed to move all the existing attributes over to the right.
Everyone except the 'Checked by' tag moved. I cannot now get this tag to move over even if I open the block up and move it.
I've attached an image to show you what I mean.
I have been provided an existing cad drawing as part of a project. I need to be able to measure the walls and interior of the drawing and I have the drawing set to mm. I would like to know what settings I need to change so that the measurements appear in mm as at the moment they arent. I have attached a picture to show the sort of measurements I am getting... is this something to do with scaling? The number on drawing is 15.700.

As stated in the docs, "You can add existing layers to a layer group byclick-and-dragging them."
And also, "The hand representing the mouse pointer must turn smaller beforereleasing the mouse button.
A thin horizontal line marks where the layer will be laid down"
However, I don't see neither a hand, nor a thin horizontal line.
I see a small scaled preview of a layer, and the mouse cursor turns to acorner, not a hand.
I use GIMP 2.8 on windows 7 64 bit.
I've created an image from several PNGs. I've opened one of those PNGs, saved it as .xcf, and then opened others fromFile->Open as layers...
Then I've created new Layer group by right-clicking on the Layers tab andselecting the respective menu item. Then I've run in the problems, describedabove.
Seems I'm doing something wrong.What?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was just asked to take an existing drawing and "fudge" the drawing with new dimensions to create a variation.So I over rode the dimensions and edited the title block date/drawn by.
I replaced the model reference HOWEVER......I have not been able to CHANGE the title or drawing number (despite the fact that the replaced model has the iProperties that I want).
I suspect this is due to the fact that the drawing is set to NOT update (I have red lightning bolt).
Can I get away with doing what I want without recreating the whole drawing?
