I can not get the SPLINE shown *attachment* here to show up in the PDF form of AC 2012 Lt.
No issues with the DWG version. I changed the layer and the color. The rest of the sketch is perfect, just NO spline ( Codend Tie Line).
I'm trying to create an external involute spline (ANSI B92.2M) Fillet Root Side Fit 26.9mm x 1 mm x 26 teeth x 38 mm long using the spline generator with Inventor 2012. I created a test shaft"M-182-AMA.ipt" that is Ø26.9 mm x 38 mm long with 1 mm radius on each end of shaft.
I use the following steps:
1. After creating component "M-182-AMA.ipt" I select Design tab>>Power Transmission>>Involute Spline.
2. A window appears that has the caption "Involute Splines Connection Generator".In the Dimensions section I choose "Splines Type: ANSI B92.2M - 37.5 deg, Fillet Root, Side Fit, 26 x 1.00 x 38 x 5H/5h" and change the Length to 38 mm.
3. In the Shaft Groove section I use Create new, and I push the Reference 1 button that turns blue, I then select the od feature from the model and I get an error(see attached pic "error1.jpg).
I changed the 26.9mm od to be 27mm and it still gave me the error.

I have created a shaft and splined one end of it successfully. The shaft is the same diameter at both ends and I need to spline the other end as well but when I try, I get the following error messages, Cannot create iFeature. Not possible to create shaft groove. Splining the first end went without a hitch but Inventor absolutely refuses to spline the opposite end of the shaft. The shaft diameter is correct for the spline I have chosen (same as the major diameter)

when I highlight the spline it will not give me a option to turn the spline into a pline.
I am new here I am drawing a CAM that was designed, the CAM has a follower and after it it's attached to another turning piece, so you could say the whole thing is one big Bearing, you could call it a CAM Bearing. Anyway
I've drawn a set of circles along the path of the CAM (the circles are the follower), now I need to make a spline that fits that path. The problem is, that spline always intersects my circles. I need it to always stay tangent to the circles (ie. not intersect)
I have tried many ways and one way was to make the spline connect at the mid points of the circle but it still doesn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a group of Points coming from a step.file. So I don't have their coordinates, excel list or anything else. Just the step file. Around 100 points. There is a line between each 2 consecutive points.
Is there any way to select all the points and create a complete spline? Or even to select all the points and create tangent arcs between all of them?
Spline curve command has changed. This is terrible as I used to use simple line types to show different things on my drawings that was rapid fast with custom macros etc. Now the spline curve command does not work in same way costing me hours of time wasted. I have now resorted in saving all incoming drawings to older version and completing my drawings that way. Only problem is the new drawings are growing above the capabilities of my old machine.
How can I initiate the old std 2 point spline curve in the new software so it works the same way as old version?
I'm wanting to make a corridor model from an imported DGN that contains centerlines and edges of pavement for a neighborhood. From 2011 and 2012, the import creates splines while 2010 and older create 3d polylines. The alignment creation from objects does not work on a 3d polyline or spline and I have no clue how to make a profile from the same object. How could I go about making an alignment and profile from a 3d spline or 3d polyline?

In Vers 2013, IV finally added the ability to manipulate a [3D] spline by dragging the control handles (way behind the curve on this one).
However, dragging "a" control handle causes several of the other control handles to shift as well. Puts a big limit on the ability to customize yout path. Splines are supposed to be one of the unrestricted free form tools for modeling.
Is there any way to turn this "feature" off ? I need and should be able to have discrete control on each control handle. (I had this way back in SW)
Also, there is no 'axis' for the control points unless you count the const lines that connect the control points and I don't. I should be able to select an axis and be able to shift the direction and level of influence of each side of the control point axis.
I have a spline that runs through about 70 points to make the perfect line. But when I rotate the sketch the spline turned from green to black and is no longer recognised as a boundary. I then have to delete the black line and re-draw. How do I keep the spline green and usable?

When I create a curve using spline on the screen I have noticed that often the curve between the points of the spline will become as straight lines. When I click on a point the curve appears again as normal and as I wanted. Any way to stop it from happening? Is this simply a characteristic of AutoCAD or something I am doing wrong? Does the curve appear as desired when plotted? The curves I am referring to are sections of a ships hull.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make some 3d spline gears in autocad, I start by generating them in eMachineshop then importing into autocad, this works fine but the gear is imported as seperat lines so I can't extrude them, i also cant join the lines because after zooming in there are quite a few gaps. How I can join the lines together without manually connecting the dots? I'll include a copy of the gear, eMachineshop only outputs dxf files as far as i know.

Is there a way around this other than drawing a new spline on top of the projected geometry and working with the new spline?
The idea was to project the shape, break the link, then ,ove the shape to a new location in preparation for a lofting procedure.
I need to draw a polyline (or spline) in the XY-plane, followed by a vertical segment before continuing in the XY-plane again. The challenge is working out the vertical part while still in the top view. There's no way to change its elevation on the fly that I know of.
