AutoCAD .NET :: Layout Tabs In External Drawings

Oct 17, 2011

I'm trying to read objects on a specific layout in an external drawing.

Reading the external drawing is not a problem when the objects are in "*Modelspace".

But finding the specific layout id and throwing that in an Blocktabelrecord is.

Here is the code.

Dim NaamDwg = "C:Program FilesAutodeskAutoCAD 2011SampleDatabase Connectivitydb_samp.dwg"
Dim strLaagNaam = "FURNITURE"

AutoCAD 2013 :: Viewports In Same Layout Showing Different Drawings?

May 22, 2013

Is it possible to show two different viewports in the same layout that show views from two different drawings?  So one viewport would show a section of the current drawing's modelspace, and the second viewport would show a a section of modelspace from another drawing? (and possibly update automatically like an XREF?)  Or would the easiest way be to just XREF both drawings into a new drawing, and then show viewports from them in the new drawing?

AutoCAD LT :: Previous Drawings Shown Only In Reduced Layout Tabs

May 6, 2013

Had an electrical storm and there was a power surge the moment I was saving my completed drawing.  Yes, it was perfect timing and yes, I have a power backup.  Now titleblock is shown in model space and completed drawings are only shown when scrolling over layout tabs.  When I click on the layout tabs only the titleblock shows up.  Is there anyway of retrieving the drawings to send back to model space or get them to appear in the layout tabs when shown on the full screen? Are those layout tabs just showing what the drawings used to look like and there is no way of getting to them back?

AutoCad :: Layout Tabs Not Updating When Opening Additional Drawings

Apr 12, 2013

For the past 2 days when I switch from one drawing to another, my layout tabs are not updating and stay the same as the previous drawings. I have to do a regen to get the proper tabs in place. All the layouts are there...it is just the tabs that are messed up. Once I click on one of the tabs they straighten themselves out as well, but on that first selection I never get the correct drawing that I want!

AutoCad :: Printing Layout That Has 3 Viewports

I am printing a Layout that has 3 Viewports. The View ports are of an aerial photograph that is a 600DPI TIFF file about 1GB in size. When I print the single sheet 24x36 the PDF file is 75mb

I am new to Acrobat X, I had been using version 7. I remember there being a reduce file size option in the old version but I cant find it in X.

Any tips on getting the printed PDF file smaller? Is it something I can do in AutoCAD or Acrobat?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Sheet Set Manager Importing Existing Drawings Layout Tabs

Jul 26, 2010

I've created a new sheet set with some existing drawing files.  These files have several layout tabs in each drawing.  The Sheet Set Manager (SSM) seems to import the layout tabs in random order, not in the order they appear on the drawing, nor in alphabetical or numerical order.  In addition, the SSM imports and numbers all of my drawings in reverse order. Any system variable setting, or some other property setting somewhere that will change this back to ascending order?

AutoCAD LT :: Referenced Drawings / Blocks And Printing

Mar 13, 2012

In M'Space I have created a layout (i.e. buildings) which in P'Space is my Dwg 1. I want to reference part of that layout in what is to be my Dwg 2. On Dwg 2 I want to insert a block (paths), because my dwgs are referenced when I insert that block it appears on both P'Space layouts. I've even tried inserting the block on its own layer but of course if I turn it off it turns off on both dwgs..... Is there a way I can print both the dwgs so they individually look the way I want without having to remember to select "do not print" that layer everytime I need to print Dwg 2?

AutoCad 2D :: Get Line Weight In Layout? Printing OK

I am aware some users like their lines very sharp and neat in the layout and make the line weight appear in the printing process.

However, I am wondering if I can see the the lines weight applied while drawing in AutoCAD. Is just I believe it will give a better "print preview" as I am working. It will be very annoying to keep going back to print layout to "hummm... How does the line look?"

PS: Yes, I know how to change the line weight.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Printing Drawings At High Resolution?

Apr 16, 2013

We have created a complex Inventor drawing (Inventor 2013) of a very large plant item which we need to print at about 2AO to put up on a wall for training use. We want to create a high resolution PDF file of the drawing first and then print the PDF having checked the quality and resolution in Acrobat Reader.

We have tried exporting to PDF but we found that the colour shaded fills, behind the lines, are too compressed and the resolution very poor. We tried increasing the paper size but this did not work.We have tried creating a plot file by printing to file using the driver of a large roll feed plotter and then creating a PDF from the resulting file. This was a little more successful but still a long way short of the resolution or line quality we require. When you zoom in the curved lines are very jagged and the colour fill still not good.

We tried printing to a generic Postscript driver but this was even worse as we didn't have enough control over paper size or resolution.

AutoCAD LT :: Printing And PDF - Drawings In Colors Instead Of Black And White

I recently upgraded my computer, and use the same AutoCADLT 2012 software I used on the old system. However, now when I print drawings or make pdfs, they are in color instead of black and white. And the pdfs in color now copy in such a way that some of the layers appear faded, are very light, and are difficult to read. How do I get the prints and pdfs back to black and white, with no color?

Is is possible to "que" a bunch of drawings to be plotted? I would like to be able to open a drawing and plot it, then while it's plotting, open another drawing and plot it, then another and so on and so on. However, I get an error message stating that another plot is in process and only one plot or publish process can be active at one time. Thus, I'm forced to wait for the last one to complete before sending the next one to the plotter.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Opening Drawings And Printing Over WAN Is Slow?

Aug 13, 2013

Is there a way to increase the access time so printing is faster?

I have AutoCAD 2013 and access drawings over VPN (6 meg pipe).

Both opening the drawings and especially printing them take a very long time.

It takes about 8 seconds to open drawings, due to all the modules loading on the bottom-left of AutoCAD. Printing takes even longer than opening the drawings.

Is there a setting I can change to speed-up access time?

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Long Delays When Printing From Drawings On Local Server?

Feb 8, 2013

When we print from a read-only drawing file that is stored on our local drawing fileserver (a PC on our network that is used to store all finished drawing files) it can take several minutes to open the Plot screen and several more minutes to actually print the drawing.  It doesn't matter which printer we use to print to.  Some of us have had this problem since AutoCAD 2010 but some have had it only since 2013.  However if we use an old AutoCAD 2007 there is no printing delay problem so the server doesn't seem to be the source of the problem.

If we print from a drawing file on our own systems (which is actually working off a local network server unless the server is down then we are working off our own computers that will re-sync with the server when it comes back on line) then there is no delay.  I have  made some local files read-only to see if that was the trigger but no, they printed just fine.

AutoCad 2D :: Dimension Text Cannot Be Scaled

Oct 30, 2013

Background Info: I am fixing about 10 drawings with to our clients standards, which are no where close to normal drafting standards. This client likes their titleblocks droped in to model space and scaled to fit, unless it has multiple scales on the drawing then it's O.K. to do it the correct way. I know right!!

Anyway I am trying to get some drawings ready for IFC.

The problem: The person that set these dwg's up did the dimentions in paperspace and now that I have them in model space I can't get the text size to change. I can't change them in dimention style format box because it is grey'd out. I tried to change the overall scale in the dim style box to no avail. I also tried highlighting and changing the text size in the properties box but alas that to failed.

AutoCad 2D :: New Document Not Scaled Correctly?

Apr 22, 2013

Just started using autocad 2013 this weekend and was able to create a document and draw some rectangles with specific dimensions for a project I'm working on. The idea is to print it out and cut the rectangles out on a piece of foam board.

So I printed it out but all of the rectangles are crazy small. Like 50% smaller. I checked the objects and they're all showing as being the right size. Then I realized the background grid is the 8.5 x 11 landscape paper and that my rectangles were to scale of the printout but not 1:1 of the dimensions that I entered and the objects said they are.
