View 9 RepliesI have multiple layout pages (58 pages) and would like to print them in a printer at once. How do I do that?
Currently, I open 1 layout at a time then print it 1 by 1, in which its killing me specially if I do have lots of drawings.
Publish does saving in DWF, PDF... But does not print in the printer.
I want to print multiple drawing in a single layout (see picture) . It is possible in autocad to setup printing once? For example: One project contains 100 A3 drawing, one layout contains 20 A3 drawing. Up to now, i print to pdf separately, and i combined the 100 pdf in one file.
And i print from this file. (only in this way succeed to print collating multiple copies). But if the project changes, I could start all over again. Is there a solution to publish an combining the sheets to print immediately?
Is there anyway to bring up a the printer dialogue box or tell the printer I need more than 1 print of the layout? It's time consuming to hit that printer button x number of times. I just had to print 50 pages of the same layout today and it would be so much easier to let the printer print the 50 copies instead of sending 1 page 50 times to the printer.

My D size and E size automatically oriented with the 36" side parallel to the roll feed. I have since moved to a job that got a Designjet T2300. On this machine the D size orients the 24" side parallel. This wastes 1' of paper on the left and uses 1' extra as it runs the 36" side perpendicular. I have been unable to rectify the problem. I have tried printing in portrait, that actually cut off some of the image. I have tried all types of rotation within the driver and layouts. Tech support had me going into the machine settings and set rotation to 90. Nothing. There is a warning that "HP utilities" is not installed. Could this be a remedy? When the tech came to set up the printer he installed the necessary drivers but mad no mention of this utility.

I’ve done it before in the past so I know its possible but I have forgotten how. See the attached image I would like to change the printable area of my paper space layout.

I am trying to print on 5x7 paper. I set the page setup to 5x7. I have the margins set to .2" on each side. The layout image inside Lr looks exactly how I want it to.Then I print. I end up with a .125" margin on the left and top, and a .625" margin on the right and bottom.
I have one layout. On that layout I want to have 2 viewports. I also have ssay block A and block B I want to insert.I would like Viewport1 to display block A and viewport 2 to display block B.
What happens to me is when I created Viewport 1 and inserted block A. I go on to create viewport 2. But viewport 2 displays only block A, which I cannon delete to insert block B.

Scale in Layout. I drew my drawing in mm , and I want to use Layout to print it like I saw in a video, but how do I scale my drawing? For example, the counter and shelf I drew is 1:1 in the Model workspace(1600 by 2000mm) but in Layout, for printing on to an A3 sized paper how do I get it to print in 1:40 or something of that sort?
Right now I'm printing by using Fit To Paper with the dimensions included, but I notice our contractors are using 1:30, 1:40 etc. , my boss doesn't mind since I include the dimensions but I reckon it might cause problems in the future.
And is it possible to just select anything in my selection window, even 3/4 of a line? Because right now, I can only select the whole line no matter what, I only want 1/2 of it because I want to cut the whole drawing in half and move it apart.
By the way, is it possible to customize the panel? Instead of switching between tabs constantly, can I make my own panel? I googled this and tried using CUI but it is confusing. I just want certain sections grouped into 1 bar. Like... Draw/Modify/Attach/Windows all on the first panel.
I really want to be able to type in certain commands without hitting Enter, is that possible? If I hit M, it will move the object without me hitting Enter. Can that be done? Maybe not M, maybe Alt+1 to move, Alt+2 to Scale etc. etc.
I wrote a program to separate drawings with multiple layouts into several drawings. The problem I'm running into is even though there is only one viewport in the layout.the program is finding two. One has the right viewcenter, width and height the other is wrong.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an A4 peice of paper and need to change the scale of my drawing so it fits onto the page. I remember there was a short cut, but have since forgotten it.
It is currently at 1:1 and want to change that to a more appropriate scale.
My issue is this: While trying to print or pdf a drawing in (lets say 8.5x11) layout view, the edges get cut off. It looks as though the template I copied is too large to be printed in full. If this were the case, wouldn't it be the same even if I tried printing in extents? It still does the same thing printing in extents.
I am using Mechanical 2012.
How to get only part of the drawing to show up to print. I've drawn a floor plan and have copied it several times. I have also drawn several patterns that represent a few different floor tile layouts and then put them over each floor plan and after some trimming I have a variety of options that someone can choose from for floor tile layout. I'd like to show each one on a separate sheet and of course when I go to layout the whole drawing comes over and how to only show one floor plan at a time.

I am currently working on a large drawing that has many tabs (145), I have made a mistake midway and would like to find a way I can rename them quicker than "Right Clicking" on each tab to change it. That will be very time consuming.
Also, is there a way to print a list of all of the current layouts within a drawing.
Many times when I receive a drawing from an architect, when I go into the layout tab the titleblock info/XREF doesn't line up with the page layout. I would assume it lined up when the architect sent it to me in his software. For years the solution I use is to XREF the architects PDF in the layout and then go to print and change the Print Offset till it looked right in the print preview. Then I would apply it to the layout. I would then take the offsets and apply it to every sheet. This is a very time consuming process and was wondering if there is a better way to make this work and still keep the scales. I was also wondering if there was a way to move and align the layout on the fly in the paperspace.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have floorplans from a building with a total of 80 appartments. Now i want to plot PDFs in A3 format, each page with 1 appartment. That would be 80 pages/PDF-files.
The way i did it up to now was i have put all A3 pages in a single layout and used the Window-function in the Plot dialog to print each page individually, manually numbering the file-names, and combining files in Acrobat as needed.
But doing this for 80 pages is too much - especially because i will likely have to plot it more often in the future. As far as i can see, i could make 80 layouts and use the Publish function, make a sheet-list and plot that way.
I keep wondering - is there not a more efficient solution to this problem than creating 80 layouts? There must be a more intelligent solution to this. Whats the preferred way of doing this?
P.S. i use AutoCAD2007 and Acrobat for plotting.
I want to be able to select all my viewports in all my layouts at the same time. Is this possible? Qselect only catches objects in the current tab.

I am using Style: Swis721 BT-Italic. I use that style in the profile for labels and in plan view. When I plot out the sheet the profile view plots good but the text that was aligned in the plan view is very bold.
I get several dwg's a day with up to 40 layouts in each one. All the settings are correct ACCEPT the plotter. Is there a way to set all page setups for all layouts at the same time? Something like select all layouts and do a page setup for all. Possibly with LISP or VBA?

How can I do this? It only allow me to drag and copy the file once. I wont be able to drag it again under another folder.

We have, since moving to 2012 had an issue with our standard Named Page Setups in our DWT file staying assigned to the layout tabs. When you click up to plot a dwg... the Page Setup Name indicating that the Named Page Setup assigned to the plot configuration dialog box says <None>. Even if you click in the drop down and select a setup... the name selected shows as selected after the box colapses... but then a split second later, the box defaults back to <None>.
