I have a viewport on the layout above that viewport I draw a polyline & by change space command I send it to model space, is there any way to merge that polyline & that viewport "when I move the polyline in the model space the view should change automatically on the layout (I am working on a long Road profiles).

I select a sphere (editiable poly), pick the shape (spline) and then press cookie cutter, and the vieport does not update. I have display result and update always on. Trid invert, etcetera. I cannot see the cutout portion in the viewport. When I render, the cutout portion is viewable.

View 4 Replies View RelatedDue to modeling purposes, I need to convert a 3D polyline to a spline. What I have been doing is:
- change polyline fit/smooth to cubic from properties
- convert polyline to spline by typing spline -> object
- method -> fit from properties
You can see the original 3D polyline (green) and the resulting spline (magenta) in the attached drawing.When I zoom in and measure the distance between the two entities at different points along them, at some points the perpendicular distance exceeds 5 millimeters, and I want to ensure the deviation remains under 1 millimeter or even less.
I know I can change the knot parameterization of the spline, and this does work at some locations, but the difference increases at others.Why is there a 5.6 mm difference between the spline fit point and 3D polyline vertex, as measure in the attached drawing?
Now, I can go and manually stretch the fit point to coincide with the vertex. Also, I can add fit points between existing ones to drag the spline closer to the original 3D poly.
However, some of my polys are really long, and it is very time-consuming to do this manually while measuring points along the entities to make sure the distance stays small enough.
how to automate this process? For example a lisp that would maybe take the original vertex points, add say maybe 3 (not too many) new ones between them, and then generate a spline while making sure the deviation is less than the set value of 1mm? I am using AutoCAD 2013.
I've been working on a custom polyline object, and I've got it functioning!!Having said that, I plan to run its creation around picking a point for bounary selection.
(Other than trying to step through every vertecies) is there a technique I can thow the polyline data from a traceboundary result into my custom object? I've been trying to add the polyline from traceboundary to my object BEFORE it's added to the transaction by the way...I assume that's right, since I want to put it's data in my custom object then add my custom object to the transaction instead.

I know this can be done via PEDIT, but its so laborious and soo many clicks, and I have alot of segmented Polylines that I need to consolidate when I draft.
Any way I can align a new polyline to a reference polyline (orig polyline).
The 2 polys will be generally the same length, however, the number of vertices will differ.
Also I need to mantain the same distance between the vertices on the new poly and the new and reference poly won't follow the same direction.
How do you find 'if' a polyline is inside another polyline?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhy cant I save a cdr job with all the merge fields setup so that next time I open the file I can go straight to 'merge to new document'.
So Ive set up a 10 to view raffle tickets job. Inserted 20 numerical merge fields, positioned, resized, applied font size color alignment etc etc etc.. Takes ages..... So then merge to a new document, works nice and I can save it fine.
There are a hundred reasons why i may have to close the 'master' merge file before the job has been successfully printed. It may be a repeat print job.
Any which way I really dont get why the live merge data fields are lost on closing the file.

View 5 Replies View RelatedProblem: When I create a new viewport, another viewport's paperspace blanks out or disappears. When I copy a viewport over, the new VP doesn't show anything and you can't maximize/"enter" its paperspace; it's like a simple rectangle, but the properties box says it is indeed a viewport.
Ex. Viewport 1 shows the top view of an object, Viewport 2 shows the right side view... as soon as I add Viewport 3, the top view in VP 1 blacks out. I attempt to ReDraw, Regenerate, etc, but it doesn't re-appear. I've run Plot Preview to see if maybe it's just a fluke with the graphics card on my screen, but alas, even in plot preview the viewport is blanked out.
It almost seems like there is a limited number of viewports I can use.
Solution: Run the MaxActVP command and set the value to a number greater than the number of VPs you actually need. This particular file had that value set at 2; hence, why a new, third VP blanked out the first one.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with a viewport that fits to the page. And I created another smaller viewport over top that just shows the legend. Now when I try to double click inside the smaller viewport it always goes into the larger one. I have tried bringing the smaller one to the front but that didn't work. I know that I can clip the larger viewport around the smaller one or bring the legend right into paperspace or slid the smaller one off to the side work in it and slide it back. This is more out of curiosity of how to get into the smaller viewport.

the odd thing is it never finds the frozen viewports on the first viewport. It catches the others fine.I cannot see anything odd either, the counts of viewports and layers are all correct, and the drawing has no problems.Is there something that must be done to initialize the mechanism that reads viewport overrides?

I will explain in ESRI GIS terms (this is what I am familiar with) and I hope you can tell me if I can do this in AutoCAD Map. In ESRI ArcMap I can select a line and I can hit a Select by Location button. In this window I can select all of the objects that intersect my selected line. Then I can delete them or export them etc.
In AutoCAD Map I have a polyline selected. It is my road centerline. I want to be able to select all of the other polylines that intersect my selected polyline. Is there a way to do this? I need to erase those polylines. Usually I will pan to each of them and select them individually. It just seems to take a lot of time. My AutoCAD co-worker said I could use a fence and draw the fence through my polylines. It seemed to work ok but I accidently deleted extra things that I needed. So I'm back to manually selecting each one by one unless you know a different way.

So, this completely destroys my work flow. The only work around I've found is to create an additional raster layer to merge with the vector layers.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have two SDF fileswith simpley polygon, lets say parcels boundary in the A.sdf, each feature has 10 feature data properties, i.e. taxid, owner, zone, value etc in the B.sdf, each feature has 3 feature data properties i.e. area, layer, colour
I would like to move all the features from B.sdf to A.sdf, however at the least I need to ensure that features moved from B.sdf now has the same number (10)of feature data properties as in A.SDF..Only solution I could come up with is to import A.sdf file into Map3D so that I have a datatable. erase all the features, then B.sdf file and use the attach data to attach the table data to each feature then output to A.sdf using append.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI create a .net automation application to print to pdf with layers. There are more 30+ layers in the drawing, I like to have the layer information in the pdf file but like to merge them to a couple:
e.g.
PDF Layer 1 show AutoCAD Layer A1, A2, A3, ...,
PDF Layer 2 show AutoCAD Layer B1, B2, B3, ...,
PDF Layer 3 show AutoCAD Layer C1, C2, C3, ...,
...
I think there will be 3 solution here:
a) merge them at the time of AutoCAD printing
b) merge layer in pdf
c) create bookmark in pdf. I have used iTestSharp to generate PDF file, merge PDF files but cannot find a solution for this. How I can do it programmically?
I am trying to combine a .CTB file from one of our consultants with ours without overwriting each others colors, pen weights and styles. How can i do that? we both have our own CTB file and we both use about the same colors and thicknesses but for different items (i.e. our consultants red is a thick line used for exterior walls, and our red is used for light lines beyond).

I would like to merge all the DWF drawings of the sub assemblies and component parts into the DWF of the main assembly. Is there a method within DWFAddIn that will allow me to merge the files? Is there another way that I can merge the DWF files using the same ilogic rule (one rule to create and merge all DWF's together?)
