AutoCad 2D :: Diameter Or Radius Dimension - Cannot Extend Extension Line
Aug 16, 2013When you make a diameter or radius dimension it always has this static extension line shown in red when you move the dimension far enough away. I can not seem to extend this extension line at all it is always the same length no matter what variable I change. How to lengthen this extension line?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Dimension Style Radius Vs Diameter
Jan 4, 2013I am trying to edit my drawing template dimension style to always do a diameter (if it is a circle). Right now it defaults to radius and I manually right click and change it. I found all sorts of styles for how it displays the radius and diameter, but didn't find where to set the default.

Jul 5, 2012When I dimension an arc to find the radius, the dimesnions appears as a line going from teh center of the arc to the edge of the arc with the dimension in the middle. I don't want this. I want a leader pointing to the R text and that's it.
I've attached a photo of both scenarios- one dimension is the style I don't want, and one is basically the style I want (I'd like it to be more of an elbowed leader line), but it only appears when I use AutoCAD's ISO25 dimension style.

Oct 23, 2012My company is trying to Standardize all drawings produced to 1 format. the one we are attempting to create would be in the form of: nominal upper limit^lower limit. this is easily acheived in autocad and linear, chamfer, and hole/thread dimensions in inventor. but radii's and diameters from a round surface (as apposed to linear diameters) we have run into a snag with. We cannot seem to find a way to either remove the prefix symbols or be able to insert text between the symbol and tolerance.
below is a illistration of the problem and the form of the new dimensions.

Oct 31, 2013The default format for a radius and diameter dimension is inserted with a prefix "R" and diameter symbol ahead of the measured dimension. Our company standard pre-Inventor was to place either "RAD" or "DIA" after the measured dimension. We can not seem to find anywhere in the setup to change how these type dimensions are inserted as a default or custom setting.
Can we change/customize the radius and diameter dimension formatting?

AutoCad 2D :: Placing Diameter Leaders - Why Set Length For Leader

Part I :When I place a diameter/radius leader, it is a set length.I can move it all around the circle I'm dimensioning but the length of this leader is set. It is really short and it sucks to have to place the dimension then move it to where I want it as a second step.
Is there a setting that will allow me to drag this dimension where I want and make the leader as long as I desire?
Part II:In Autocad 2009, if you wanted to change a leader location,you could pick the text grip and it would move the end of the leader to that point then place the dimension from that point. Now picking the grip places the text and I have no control over the angle of the leader (our standards require leaders to always be a set angle from the object!)

Apr 26, 2011I'm trying to plan an access road which must run at least 2.5m away from an existing fenceline. I've put a few parallel road lines in at 3m distance, but at the fence bends I decided to put some circles at the bend points to give me a 3m radius. When I did this I was suprised to find that the circle extends further than my access road. I've dimensioned them both up, CAD is telling me they're both 3m away but they're clearly not at the same distance.

Aug 18, 2011I just started at this drafting job and inherited most of the graphics from others. Version: AutoCAD LT 2010.
Some of the leaders on my drawing somehow changed so that the arrowheads do not show. When I began working on the drawing, the arrowheads were fine, but while I have been working on the drawing, all of a sudden these leaders changed this property.
The properties manager lists these problem leaders as "line with no arrow." Although there is a drop-down menu to choose things like "line with arrow," the "no arrow" option does not change when I pick anything else.

Feb 21, 2013For my dimension style, I have my text placement set to over dimension line, with leader, so I can drag the actual text outside the dimension line with a leader attached when necessary, but when I try to move the text outside of the dimension line it always draws the leader underlining the entire piece of text that I have moved. Is there a way to control the leader to attach to the middle of the line and not underline the entire piece of text when doing this operation?
