View 5 RepliesWhen using mtext and a background mask and try to modify the border offset factor from the default of 1.5 , the factor reverts back to 1.0. If I type in 1.25 or 1.75, it will not save it and revert to 1.0. If I put in a larger number like 2.0 or 3.0, that factor will be retained.

Presently, the Fill Color defaults to "Red" and I have to check "Use drawing background color" every time. Certainly there must be a way to change this?
While I am at it, how about line space distance? Ditto on default justification, height, etc., etc.?
In AutoCAD 2012 or 2013, can I set MText to default to any or all of the following conditions:
1. background mask = Yes
2. background mask = drawing background color
3. black outline around the background mask "box"
how to manipulate the size of the wipeout for a text mask.
Simply selecting the masked text in C3D 2011 provided pick boxes at the four corners of the wipeout, making it very easy to manipulate the size of the wipeout box. I'm hoping to do the same in C3D 2012, but the wipeout seems to be treated like a block and lacks the pick boxes.A system variable maybe?
I've been using PSP since decades, currently I'm using the latest PSP X5.When I open a .jpg/.jpeg file and without changing anything on picture hit File-->Save or CTRL-S or the Floppy on the Toolbar, any picture is overwritten with a certain compression factor of about 15 (but not exactly). If I go over the File-->Save As..or F12 function, I can choose the compression factor as I want (f.ex. 5) over the options, it will be retained forever, until I change it manually, what is perfectly ok.
I'm quite sure, it wasn't always like this, but since some versions it is. I think earlier the factor I choose on "Save As..." was also used for "Save". But a mystical compression factor is used, which can't be reproduced manually: 15 is a notch bigger but about the closest.
Question:Can I set the default compression factor somewhere, I don't want to make the whole procedure over "Save As..." every time, I just want to open an image, edit and click "Save" with a compression factor of let's say 5. Anything for achieving that is acceptable, like modifiying Registry settings or editing config files to the HEX Level. A lot of googling and searching in settings didn't solve my problem yet.
I use very many features of this great program and plugins and stuff, but it turns out, the only problem I have with it, is about the most basic function.
how do you change their layer? i have been through the settings tab under "alignment", "station offset". i also right clicked on one and went through the properties.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the default border set in all my templates but I want to add an outside border to the default border (so everything is ultimately enclosed in a large box). How can I add that to the default? I see where I can define a new border but I can't have two borders on the same drawing so how do I combine them? I want to keep the existing "smart" default border that lets me choose how many zones etc.
View 9 Replies View Relatedhave default text for a Prompted Entry in a Border. I have not found a way to do this other than creating a custom iProperty, which is not an option, since it is not our title block / border.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the default margin offsets (i.e. the distance between the edge of your border or title block to the edge of your paper), without using the "Insert Drawing Border" option?
I would have thought you could do this through the "Edit Sheet" or "Define New Title Block / Border" options. I have multiple customized title blocks, which each require their own margin offsets.
When resizing a layer with a layer mask and using any bicubic method, the layer maks scales 1 pixel differently from the other layers. Is this normal due to some component of bicubic interpolation or is it a bug?
Try the following:
Create a new image in Photoshop at 800 px x 800 px
Leave the locked BG layer and create a new layer
Fill the new layer with green (or your favorite color)
Add a layer mask to the green layer and fill the mask with black (via Fill with foreground color or Alt+Del) to completely remove any visible green from your document
Now use Image-> Image Size (Opt+Cmd+I) to resize your document using any bicubic scaling method. Resize to 600 px by 600 px.
Now zoom in on the document's edge at the pixel level. Is it completely white as it should be?In my case, no. However, if I use 'nearest neighbor' interpolation method when scaling, I do get a solid white edge. Even more strange, if I fill the layer mask with black by inverting it rather than filling it the problem does not happen.
I am trying to add an MTEXT background mask in vba I know it may be easy to do in lisp but I already have a working vba code for creating the MTEXT just need to add the background mask into the text.
all the codes I can find in the internet are doing it in lisp.
I'm looking for the best way to create some sort of background mask in my blocks.
I'm using blocks as my mechanical symbols, to be inserted into my piping and instrumentation diagrams.
The diagrams contain several lines, and in the past the company would simply trim out the lines around the symbols. I would like to stop trimming the lines by simply putting an invisible hatch/mask around my blocks.
Whenever I draw a box on the page using the foreground color, the background color is applied as a 1px border (I believe) and is accompanied with the box.
When you go to select the background color, there doesn't seem to be any 'use no color for background' option. It's also not being added in the 'layer options' box either (as a stroke).
How do I remove that the outside background color?
It's kind of hard to see on this photograph, but there is shading that occurs to the left and top of the MTEXT on plots only. This happens about 80% of the time, with no rhyme or reason as to why it does or doesn't....
We are printing to HP/GL-2 using HP drivers. I'm sure it's a print driver thing.
I have labelled an FDO feature which include a TEXT BACKGROUND (Mask) white in colour to make the text stand out. I attempt to savecurrentmaptoautocad thinking that the Text Mask will come across as a HATCH Patterm but nothing is coming across when I open the DWG file. I have been through all the options to try and get the mask to appear in the new DWG file to no avail

i really need the BGM.
My background masks is displaying a border (which is not desired) and they are not masking the backound but instead are masking the text. What gives? (see attached)
This issue is specific to one drawing. It seems to effect all background masks regardless of style. They are set to use drawing background color. And border option is set to false in the label styles.
The last items I worked on in the last sesson where to create a corridor and an intersection.
Also, why the pen table is printing correctly that would work as well. The attached image was printed using a black/white pen file. Go figure.

I am trying to use a lisp that will turn on a background mask on selected mleaders. I found the attached lisp here [URL]. it works good except the mask border offset factor is set to 1.5. I need the offset to be 1.0. When I look thru the lisp code it says the default is 1.0 but can be changed.
how I can use the lisp and get mask offset factor to be 1.0?

I can go into another drawing on my machine and it works just fine
it looks like its working until I zoom in or out then it doesn't work at all
Is it possible to have attributes (annotative text) with a background mask in a block? Our intention is to include text to describe the status (demolition, existing or new) of various equipment.
The drawings themselves (lines, hatchs, etc.) would not be scalable or annotative, but we do want the text included to be annotative.
We normally include a hatch behind text or drawing elements (with a 'ByBlock' color) so we can 'manually' give it a background color of our liking and then scale the block in question. This way, the 'manual background' automatically scales with it.
However, with the annotative way of doing things, our solutions doesn't work anymore because blocks like these ones are now insert at a 1:1 scale and the text included will scale accordingly. I'm looking for a way to add a background mask to an annotative attribute.
If you can background mask dimension text the same way you can with mtext. I know i can explode the dimension and edit the text and give it a background, but that is poor practice. I still want to keep the dimension associated.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow come my background masks on text no longer mask the background?!
I have looked done new drawings and it works. It also works in the drawing in question but only over items in paperspace, it does not work over the viewports.
If you select the text you can see that the mask is there.
I tried draw order but everytime I did it everything always seemed to back to "back" even if I just changed it to "front"
Another draftee had worked on these drawings but I doubt he would have sabotaged them (and he wouldnt know how..)
I have seen this happen randomly before.
I was experimenting with using multileaders today and changing their styles. What I can't work out is how do I change the color of the background mask? All I could do was turn on and off the 'background', not change the color of it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have found where / how to apply a background mask to text (listed in the properties box when I highlight text). The list of fill colors does not include white. I was hoping to create a background mask that did not add a shaded box to a black and white print but simply blocked out the contents behind the text.
I am using 2010 LT if this makes a difference.
I can't find a 'background mask' on/off toggle in the 'Multileader Style Manager' in AutoCAD 2013. In the 'Dimension Style Manager' you can easily add a background to dimension text in there but it doesn't seem to be an option for a multileader style. Did AutoCAD actually miss this?!? If so that is a huge inconsistency. I want to have a multileader style preset in a template with the background text masks on. I hope it's not something that a user needs to go and first do their multileader, then afterwards have to go and manually turn the mask on via the properties pane.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a station-offset label style that will drop the trailing zeros in the offset section - e.g. 15' instead of 15.00', but if the offset is not at a whole number, e.g. 15.01, etc. it will display the entire offset.
I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.
I have attached the file, the style is ACHD-Sta Off-Rt [copy]
