i have a dynamic block that my firm has been using. we're updating our dimstyles - and our new leader is a custom (close to open 30 but with heavy accents).
anyway - i'm a little new and vague as how to change the leader within the dynamic block. i fiddled with it several times - but with no success.

I have a dynamic block that I want to be added to a leader style. When I create the style and draw a leader I don't have access to the dynamic block functionality. Is there a way to restore this functionality without exploding the leader?

Now i want to attach a leader to the block (having framed text) whose text values may vary from a, b, c, d, to say k. Is there anyway by which is can have the preset values that can be picked from a pull down menu.

Problem is when I flip the text with its leader, the tip of the arrow loses contact with the borehole. And as I flip more times, the further it gets from its original position.
I try to created new multi leader style with custom block but I don't see my block on list.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I've done a reasonable amount of work with dynamic blocks. I have a block with a rotation action and grip to arbitrarily align it. However I realized when trying to combine it with an alignment grip (which actions on the basic or fundamental block rotation angle) that there didn't seem to be a way to some how link a dynamic block rotation action or one of the custom angle properties to a the fundamental block rotation angle. Thus there are two additive rotations at work; the dynamic block one with its grip and the fundamental rotation property.
This can cause some confusion when one person aligns with the grip and another via rotating the block's fundamental property and would also be problematic in the generalized sense if one was trying to select or programmatically read back the net angle alignment.
Is there anyway to prevent AutoCAD from converting a MTEXT leader with a block element attached to a BLOCK leader when doing a copy/paste? See screen shot.

I have created a dynamic block with a stretch, flip and rotate. Everything works great in its file. When I insert it in another file, the grips move but the block does not change.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to work with a block by changing the x or y value in properties -- but when i do, the block disappears. i don't work with blocks very often, but someone i'm working with sent me his blocks and i can change the height or width very easily in the properties window -- and his blocks don't disappear!

I've created a dynamic block that simply flips a connector input from a connector output. Like This:

But if you put more than three numbers after the L- prefix, the alignment gets screwed up. Is there a way to change text alignment in a dynamic block? Or, conversely, what do the Align and Fit justifications do? Could I make those work for this purpose?
I have this block with u-bolts , i don't use imperial and would like to change it to metric , how can this be done?

When I craeted them I could click on the Grip for a Linear Parameter that was associated with a Stretch Action and the current value would be displayed (Example: The width of a block). I could type in a new value and the block would stretch to that value. Something changed this week when I attempted to use my blocks. When I click on the Grip no dimension is displayed. The command line shows "Specify point location or [Base point/Undo/Exit]". I can drag the grip to change my block but I cannot simply type in a new dimension as before.

I can insert the block, and the visibility state changes, however, if I manually try to change it after, it does not change, even though the value has changed. My code executes and returns no errors, so I am assuming that I have done something wrong, or missed something out.

If I insert my block manually, I can change the states and it works fine, but the code seems to break the block.
I was wondering if it would be possible to convert an existing block to a leader that uses the same block with the arrow attached without losing the information which is stored inside the block attributes.
I have created the multi leader with the block definition attached but I'm still struggling to incorporate the data into it.
There are to many blocks to do this manually. I have exported the data to a excel but do not know how to insert it back into to multi leader.
How to change the Scale Uniformly property in dynamic blocks accross hundreds of drawings using either/or scripts, lisp, vba or anything else that might do the job.
I just need to open the drawing and select the block (one block per drawing) then edit the scale uniformly property within the block, save then close the drawing and move onto the next drawing.
Is there a way, using dynamic blocks, to rotate a line around an ellipse, so that that leader is always centered with the center of the ellipse, but it actually starts at the circumfrence of the ellipse.
Like with a circle, you choose, rotation, using the center of the circle as the base point, and then setting your radius, and choosing the 'rotate' action. I need to do basically the same thing, but with an ellipse.
I have a square with a solid hatch as a point, with a visibility on it, and a text attribute with a leader from the square to the atrabute. This is the part i understand. the part that is confusing is when I try to rotate the attributes arount the square, how to i keep the leader attached to the square, and still look like a correct leader?

I get a notice that the block is not fully constrained and its a nightmare going through all the lines trying to find where I need to apply a constarinet.( I can't wait to get off ACAD and back to Inventor.)
2. When I try to save a dynamic block using the Save Block icon under Open/Save, if the dynamic block is not fully constrained, and I click save, when I reopen the block to edit all of my constraints are gone, this has happened twice. Now I just exit by Xing out and saving changes.
is there an way to display attribute data using a multi-leader inside a single dynamic block.
To elaborate, I'm trying to create a borehole dynamic block that I can enter the ground level and end of borehole level as attributes, and have them show up in a multi-leader. The reason for the multi-leader is that I can add a background mask to it and it automatically adjusts the length of the outline obox around it.
I just want to insert the borehole block from a tool palette, enter a couple of attributes, stretch the bottom down to whatever level, and I'm done.
I've been playing with it all weekend trying to get fields to show the attributes and I can get it to work if I use another block for the levels (multi-leaders), but even then I have to into the fields an mess with them. It's go to be east so my CAD guys can do it without slowing down, otherwise they may as well carry writing everything out long-hand as they do now.
I'm using Civil 3D 2012, if that matters.
I have gotten in the habit of using a leader text with a custom iproperty to do material call outs on my drawings. I have been doing the first one then copy/pasting the leader onto each piece i want to call out.
This worked flawlessly in 2010 and has worked well previously in 2012. For some reason it is not working at all in this particular .idw.
work flow is to create the first instance, copy. right click outside the view border and select paste. Then attach to as many different parts as needed.

I inserted in the block a Block Propreties Table, that have some preset dimensions for the stirrups. The grip of this table I decided to put in the top right corner.
The problem is that I can't make this grip moveable )

new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to create a dynamic block for a "Glass Panel" in a balustrade. I need to be able to insert it, in one corner and stretch it in another corner, to suit the staircase angle.
I've created the block, but it isn't working correctly. I've attached a drawing, with the left hand drawing a sketch of how it needs to be. The right hand drawing is my dynamic block attempt. As can be seen, when the block is stretched between the 2 points, it doesn't follow the angle of the staircase correctly (Very slight run off)
I wish to create a dynamic block containing some attributes. These attributes are inside rectangles that can't be modified in length using linear parameters ; but the attribute has to be always in the middle of the rectangle. So, I draw a line inside the rectangle (in a hidden layer) and insert the attribute with center justification (not sure for the translation) that I place in the middle of this line ; then I put a coincidence constraint (not sure for the translation, but it's the first one) linking the middle of the line with the middle of the attribute.
But here's the problem : when stretching my rectangle, the insertion point of the attribute suddenly changes from "center" to "bottom left".
I am looking for a way to use the ATTIN/ATTOUT workflow to bring in data from an excel spreadsheet to drive the size of each of my block's instances. The block will be simple, a rectangle, with width and length parameters. For each entity in my excel/csv file these parameter values are spelled out. I know how to display these parameters in my attributes, but I don't know how, if I were to feed in these values, to drive the geometry. If there's a better way to take a list of width and length values to generate a series of blocks each with a rectangle containing its respective size.

Is there a way to disable that dialog and open the files as normal dwgs?
A hint: BLOCKEDITLOCK doesn't make it, it shows another dialog...
I'm trying to make a dynamic block of a column radiator.
It should be very simple. It's a 46mm wide module that comes in a range of heights (300, 500, 600, & 750mm) and a range of assembly widths (9, 13, 18, 22 & 27 modules wide - more commonly given as mm widths of 414, 598, 828, 1012 & 1242 respectively).
My attempt at constructing it has gone quite well, but when 'stretching' the block a ghost of the core 414 (w) x 300 (h) unit remains. I attach the block to give you a better idea of what I mean.
I have a drawing ("SURUBURI.dwg") with several dynamic blocks ("M12", "M16", "M18" ... an so on...). I want to insert in my current drawing, one of the blocks from SURUBURI.dwg, for instance the block named "M12".
For that i tried creating a new command "INSERT_M12" that has the following script :
^C^C-INSERT; "I:/Ionut Mihaila/Goodies/SURUBURI.dwg/M12"
Now obvious that doesn't work, but i think it shows clearly what i want to accomplish. So is there an other way to do this?
