AutoCAD 2010 :: LISP Block Creation
Nov 6, 2013I am working at an engineering firm. I have had to basically redraw all the openings since our clients seem to be using wipe out blocks for their doors and windows. Well I want to make a beam lisp that will ask the user to click an insert point, width, and angle then draw an appropriate wipe out block with a dashed line down the center to represent our beam then rotate it into place.

Dec 25, 2013I am currently looking into the creation of dynamic blocks. I've have not been able to get a hold of the objects that make a block dynamic (parameters, grips, actions)
There is a table with records. One of those records is the Model Space (drawing area). All drawing objects are recorded here. All layouts have the same hierarchical level as the model space. All Blocks in the document also have the same hierarchical level as the model space.
This would be a representation of the above.

-text
-etc.
-Paper Space
-polyline
-line
-MyBlock
-Polyline
-Text
-Alignment parameter
-Alignment grip
So, with this in mind I've been trying to study the dynamic blocks so I can create them programatically but when I cycle through the ObjectID's inside my block record (in this case MyBlock) it would only show the Id's for the Polyline and the text and not the other two.
It seems they are recorded elsewhere.
I want to access the object and figure out later how it relates to the other objects and make it dynamic.
AutoCAD 2013 :: SaveAs And Block Creation
Jul 21, 2012I have a student that downloaded and installed the 2013 student version of AutoCAD. She then opened a drawing we were working on in class (2012 standard version) and continued to work at home. She is able to save that drawing by clicking the save button on the Quick Access toolbar, however she is unable to "Saveas" that drawing to a different name or different release. The dialog box resets the file name to a file path on her C drive as soon as you move the mouse.
The same thing happens when she goes to make a block - she can type a block name in the window, but as soon as the mouse moves, the name changes to a block name already in the list.

Oct 12, 2013I need to create a block for all our schematic work. Right now were are doing the schematic part in Visio, but like to move that part to auto cad if it is possible.
I wonder if this is possible to create though. A dynamic block that you can drag out to expose more terminals To be able to label the terminals individually. For each wire terminal to provide a snap function so lines can easily snap to them. Be able to label each wire that gets connected individually.
Be able to add a heading to each block for make and model number. Not sure if acad can actually do all this with dynamic blocks. I attached an image from Visio as well.
AutoCad 2D :: Dynamic Block Creation - Height To Length Ratio
May 18, 2013I am using AutoCad Architecture 2011 and I am in the midst of creating a simple line drawing of a bifold door. I have two lines. Each at opposing 45 degree angles. The objective is to have each line segment equal to half the distance measured between two points. For example; if the door opening is 2' wide each line of the bifold doors should be 1' in length if measured diagonally. The result would be a line, if stretched out, would equal 2'.
I've created a block that can stretch and rotate but I just can't figure out the height to length ratio thing.

Dec 6, 2011Age old question; Title Block Creation.
I took an existing title block out of another document and pasted it into my 'standard.idw' file, modified it, made it the default title block and it looks pretty good. Problem is, having saved the 'standard.idw' file it saved it under a project header and now everytime I open said new drawing I get the error that it is not part of my existing project. Obviously.
Is there a way to create this file, with my new title block and not get this error, supress or have it projectless?
Also, with that in mind my other problem, which I am sure is related, is that I put an image in my title block, which gives me e error that my picture is not located in the current project. Currently I bypass that one by hitting skip and it still retains my image, which is fine.
These two things together are slight annoying but I can live with it until I deduce a way to kill these errors.

AutoCAD LT :: Polylines Vanish On Hide Command
Aug 7, 2012I'm using Autocad 2012 LT. Start a new drawing, in model space create 2 viewports, draw a closed polyline (rectangle), and then issue the hide command. The polyline vanishes !!! Turning it into a block solves the error. And hatches vanish as well.

May 1, 2013Quite often when I open drawings or just open AutoCAD my tool palete is there but none of the tools are there to select from? If I reset the tool palette it does the same. Sometimes they are there and sometimes they are not?? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still happens. I'm using AutoCAD LT 2013 for Mac. Screen shot attached.

Aug 3, 2012I can stumble a bit, and have reasonably competent in the ACAD side of it. but here's my issue: existing grade was created in a separate office (by a non-c3d guru) and the surface drawing was shipped up to the remote office. There's nothing in the drawing except the surface (created from GIS contours) and the contour labels. Layers for major and minor and labels are all on, not frozen, visible, and none are set to non-plot. (C-TOPO-MAJR, C-TOPO-MINR, C-TINN, C-TOPO-TEXT)
This file is XREFed into modelspace in a sheet file that has a half-dozen tabs, two to three vports per tab. In some of the viewports, not all by any means, either none of the contour lines show up, or only some of them do. There are no per-viewport over-rides, and all layers are on, thawed, and plottable. In the area where the contour lines fail to show up, the contour labels do.

Apr 9, 20132012. I have contours from a corridor merged into a full surface. I labeled the contours, then had to rebuild the corridor after the profile changed.
The contour labels all vanished and had to be redone. While surface contours work well for roadway corridors with few intersecting roads. I am not finding them to be useful for parking lots. I am thinking I will have to go back to the extract all contours from model and neaten them up for acceptable graphic presentation, then label them using the label line function and pray they don't change. i.e. old LDD work flow.
The automatic outside boundary also does not work well when updating parameters and rebuilding. The old fashioned LDD boundary from polyline seems to work better most of the time.

& tossed the copied objects out in model space accordingly. But as stated it only does this periodically.
AutoCAD Map 3D :: Creating New Layout And Zooming To Correct Region In View Port - Objects Vanish
Aug 28, 2012We have a map of our primary lines in an ESRI .shp file, that superimposes nicely on our other shape files, for shoreline and rivers and everything else, that works fine. As part of some project planning I'm doing, I'm making a series of layouts, each taking a snapshot of an area, with a revision cloud around the lines we're planning to replace.
I loaded the map up this morning and everything was as I saved it, but as I was creating a new layout and zooming to the correct region in my view port, every single revision cloud I drew disappeared. As did all the annotations and other labels I'd made - absolutely everything that isn't from a database just up and vanished.
I've turned off all the database links, there's nothing covering them up, I had none of them selected and used no delete commands, all I did was create a new layout via copy and adjust the viewport on it, they're just gone.

Oct 5, 2012I've been scanning newspapers, with some difficulty, having to do two scans to complete a page. Scanner is an Epson V600. Working in Greyscale 8bit and 400 dpi.
Open Photomerge and point to folder containg the two images for one page. Tried Automatic and other options but without success. Images load and after some time all the results vanish into cyberspace! No error codes appear or any information at all!
Computer here is Dell 4700, XP Professional, 2GB RAM. 2GB video board (1), 512Mb Video board (2). PS5, V12.04, 32bit
Lightroom :: Pictures Randomly Vanish On IMAC
Dec 27, 2011I’m moving pictures from my old HP LIGHTROOM to my new iMAC LIGHTROOM and have discovered that my pictures tend of vanish from both, so that I’m left completely unsure if any picture I move to or import into LIGHTROOM on my iMAC will be there permanently. I’ve experienced this software instability in LIGHTROOM on my PC and was hoping if I moved to the iMAC the problem would be resolved, but I see it is an inherent and significant bug in the LIGHTROOM software. I’ve had the entire contents of the catalogs on both my PC and iMAC disappear requiring me to re-import the pictures (resulting in even random duplications} and to reenter and re-annotate metadata for thousands of pictures. I have searched in vain for any satisfactory explanation, most of all from Adobe, what might be going on here and how to prevent or alleviate the problem.

Photoshop :: Color Bug? Drawings Vanish When Using Dark Background
Jan 12, 2008Hi, I just started working with Photoshop, so I might be making some stupid rookie mistake...but I can't figure out what the hell could be wrong.
When I draw something on a dark background it just vanishes as soon as I fill the area with the paint bucket!
If I have a dark grey background, and draw something in black using the brush, when I try to fill the drawing, for instance green, with the paint bucket, the entire picture becomes green!
It was as if the drawing was never there.
At first I thought I had some wierd setting on my brush, but the wierd thing is that this only happens when I use dark.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Nodes Vanish While Editing In Wireframe
Oct 16, 2013So I will jump right to the issue. I like to make my edits occasionally in wireframe, and as I began to manipulate or move nodes around, the minute I finish editing the first node or a group of nodes, all of the nodes vanish. The only thing that is present in wireframe after they disappear is the object (or line that I am editing) no nodes.
Now, I have learned that if I zoom in or out, they appear again, I would have to continuously do this in order to make edits in wireframe. I do not have this problem in Enhanced View.

My graphic card is up to date; however, I dont believe this is a graphic issue due to the fact that I can edit in Enhanced view without issues.

Nov 5, 2012For the last few weeks I have been having problems with my photoshop. One day I opened it and all the layer styles (6 gigs worth) were just gone. No one knew how to restore them here so I did them all over again and saved 3 sets at 2gigs each. Now every single time I open Photoshop I don't have any layer styles and have to load them. I updated just now from CS5 to CS6 and the same thing.. I have opened and closed CS6 4x now and each time all my layer styles vanish upon opening.

Aug 20, 2012I have been looking at posts on automating pdf creation but have seen a lot with programming / VB involved but would like to avoid that if possible. I have also seen one's on batch processing but would like to do them as needed / completed.
I am trying to somewhat automate the pdf creation process. Having them save to a specific spot / folder and having them 'plot' the same view to the pdf would be very beneficial that way we don't have to select print, print to pdf, print this view with these details, save to this folder location. etc.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Creation Of Tmp Files
Nov 13, 2013We are currently using a networked Autocad 2012 Deployment. As each person opens the Autocad session, several "tmp" files are created in the "G:AutoCAD Support2012SupportToolPalette" directory. They remain when the session is closed and then several MORE are created. The directory itself is write protected for most users (engineers, etc) but open for the Drafstmen to be able to create new entries. I can see why they arent deleted becasue of this, but why are they thrown in there in the first place?
We had over 65,000 tmp listings this AM after examining all the directories associated with Autocad because ALL users were having problems opening and closing Autocad such as 3-4 minutes to open the app, and several minutes to close. Once they were deleted, Acad ran normally and no lags were detected.
AutoCAD Inventor :: DXF File Creation
Nov 29, 2012I have a 32 page Inventor DWG file I am trying to convert to a DXF file. Unfortunately when I do a save copy as DXF,
I get 32 individual DXF files. I would like one file with 32 different pages just like it was made in Inventor or just like it is done in Autocad where you have one drawing with the tabs at the bottom. Is this possible to accomplish in Inventor?

Nov 4, 2008Is it possible to automate the creation of a DXF file when you save or check-in a part file from inventor. I have already set it up to create a DWF file to a shared folder on our network but we also export to DXF files as well for use in our machine shop. As of now the only way I know of doing it, is to open the .idw file and save it as a DXF manually. How to set this up to automatically create one on save or check-in.

Mar 5, 2012Some of my co-workers are having issues with layers. They create a new layer, choose a color and rename it and c;ose the ;ayer manager. When they reopen the layer manager, the new layer has reverted back to the color it started with. If they do it a second time, it works properly.

Nov 8, 2013I have tried to create deployments on the network for my products but I keep getting a "copy function fails" error once I start it.
When you first start to make a deployment it asks for a Administrative image path which I have been point at a network location (\serverpath, etc).
I did make sure that the path length was less than 73 characters (due to a previous error).
It was suggested that I make the deployment on the local machine and then move it to the network location?
However, it does not appear that you allowed to pick a local directory for this (see attached).
