I need to evenly space points along a drawing of an ellipse, and I can not seem to figure out how to do this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the above image, I have four symmetrical corners of an ellipse which I'm trying to join together into one ellipse that is perfectly symmetrical. I am trying to line up the anchors perfectly (one corner at time) and then do a join, yet the result is always slightly off. I've been selecting the two points I want to join and using Path -> Average, then Path -> Join to do this, yet as mentioned it's not coming out precise.

Firstly, is iterating through the document database, and processing any Solid3d, Region & Body entities the best way to do this, or is there a faster way to access the 3d geometry?
Secondly, I assume using the first approach above, I need to process each entity as a Brep in order to get the vertices, polygons, etc. In this case, how are the UV coordinates for each vertex obtained?
I've been stuck on this for a while and im going through some blog posts at the moment to try and find some pointers but it cant hurt to ask here as well.
Im trying to obtain the handle/objectIDs from newly created objects made using the CO command or the copyclip pasteclip (ctrl+c, ctrl+v) command, imediately after they have be placed without the user having to click on them.
I used to be able to obtain the sqare footage of an area with the AREA command. A list would generate about seven or eight lines, listing the square footage, inches, perimeter etc.
Now all i see is one line; the area/perimeter (see attachment). Did i change a setting somewhere to obtain this simplify version of the AREA cmd? Something is not right...
I tried the MASSPROP and MEASURE GEOM, those will not show the square footage. This used to be so easy, what am i missing...
In LDT listing curve data was as easy as selecting an alignment, clicking edit and printing out a spreadsheet with all the required info. how to do this in C3D. Inifo I need:

PI
I am lucky enough to have access to a developer version of the recent Xbox One Kinect hardware. Naturally there is currently no software on the market that allows point clouds/mesh's to be obtained using the scanner within the Kinect.
I have seen that AutoCAD has been utilised to achieve this and wondered if there is any literature or instructions as to how this is achieved? Is there a plugin required that is able to control the Kinect V2 and output point cloud data from scans?
It's an e-commerce site for some sports related jewelry that he made, and he wants to protect the logos we worked on and the site design. What I've usually seen are people slapping a copyright date on their work and calling it good. However, I don't think that's really going to protect anything from being ripped off. I'm looking at websites and what it looks like is that I have to get an attorney and file some paperwork with the US Copyright Office.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried a method described elsewhere whereby you reduced the canvas size to say 95% then increase it by 105%, but the problem with this is that it doesn't create a border of equal width. The sides of a landscape orientated rectangular image end up being thicker than the top and bottom.
Is there a simple method for obtaining a border of equal thickness?
Exporting to PNG. reference:[URL] We have multiple layers (some off and locked). I'd like to pass all the selected items to the Image Optimization Action as a group instead of optimizing each one. I am using AIMatchingArt Suite to get the selected items, but it points to an array of AIArtHandles..

I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.

there is a way to convert land desktop aecc points to cogo points and use the full description?
I do not have access to the ldt files nor to the Descriprion keys file. It would be nice if there was an option to preserve full descriptions when converting (that would be just too simple).
I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a couple points that were part of an import event (data from a previous project) which I want to assign as control points for an incoming traverse, is there any way to assign those as control points? I can't seem to find a way to do that other than perhaps re-importing the specific points as control points and overwriting the existing ones.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a project that was started by leaving all the survey data inside the "All Points" group. So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey. Will this happen?
I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not? I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.
What should I do?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a (for lack of a better term) squarish ellipse.
I've tried a few things but they don't work too well, i.e. plines and lofting a rectangle with an ellipse then cutting it two but they just get me arcs that meet at sharp points.
The jpg below is meant to show what I'm trying to do.
I want to take that one quarter of an ellipse at the intersection and stretch/pull it to the midpoint of the line between the corner of the rectangle and the arc. The ellipse is made out of 4 ellipse arcs. I want to stretch just the arc without moving the ends of it at the quadrants.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an ellipse with equal radii, I changed it into an arc, but I can't make it fit.
In the attached drawing, there are 3 entities.
1. The original ellipse - red
2. Arc that has the same start angle and end angle as the ellipse - grey
3. Arc that fits the original ellipse - green
Now this is strange, because the ellipse seems to have a different CS for the angles. I had more ellipses in the drawing, but some of them don't have this anomaly.
Recieved a ACAD converted Microstation File for use in an upcoming construction project. Would like to convert all of the existing ellipses to polylines. Have read several threads that lead me to believe redrawing them is about the only real way to do it. Posting here in hopes of a solution. Drawing contains 127 ellipses, and I dont want to redraw all of them!!
Currently on C3D2012.
I want to create a new order. when using the order,It will create a ellipse and a DTEXT .I mean the ellipse and the DTEXT are a whole. when move the ellipse the DTEXT will alse move. However, users can edit the DTEXT.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe path array in 2012 is a very useful addition but I can't crack a solution to creating an array around an elipse (like chairs around a board room table). The only way I've found it to work is to break the elipse and then join up the gap, essentially creating a closed eliptical arc. This gets a result but it seems a very scrappy work-around to something which should simply work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to arrange equally spaced circles around an ellipse. I understand I can do this with the Divide command, as referenced in a previous thread on a similar subject
[URL].......
But I thought I could also use the Path Array command using an ellipse as the path.
What I get is the replicated objects (small circles) following some totally random path. Strange that this happens only with an ellipse - seems to work OK if the path is a circle or spline.
