AutoCad 2D :: Lines Are Non Coplanar - Z Coordinate Is Not 0
Feb 10, 2008
I've been having a drawing problem at work lately on Autocad 2007. Some lines I draw cannot be filled so I have to trim them instead. The reason why is that these lines are not coplanar. I've also noticed that the Z coordinate is not 0 and have checked on the 3d View that lines are awfully not in the same plan. Does it have to do with the X-line?

I am getting the lines are not coplanar when working off of a surveyor's drawings which is testing my patience. I am using LT so I do not believe I have access to LISP. How to use the FLATTEN command which must not be a function for LT because it is unrecognized.
Do I have options to flatten it?

I want to "Fillet" a round angle. If I set the radius and then click the 2 lines then Autocad comes with the message: "Lines are non Coplanar" This problem just started in a drawing i was working in ( 50% were already done by Fillet perfectly ) , I draw only 2D.

I am working on someone else's file, using CAD2010..For many lines, Chamfer & Fillet commands do not work, "lines are non coplanar "..In the Properties, all Z = 0
I tried Flatten, nothing changed.

I wonder if there is a way to get an intersecting point coordinate of two polylines(lines) programmatically.
For example, like in the below sample picture, I need to get coordinates of the points in the red cycles.
Is there any method that I can easily use?
Could I get a sample code snippet that computes the coordinates? (in C# & ObjectARX 2010 if possible?)
I've looked up "Through the Interface" and this disscussion group. couldn't find any useful yet.

We just upgraded to 2013, and one computer is having a weird issue. There is nothing in the drawing. He draws two polylines. When he goes to fillet them, it says they are non-coplanar. The properties palette says both polylines are elevation 0. why this is happening and how I can fix it?

I have recently received a drawing in which I found that there are several blocks and plines which are not coplanar the lines and other objects in the drawing. Now, I know that there is the flatten command to use when this stuff happens.. It works fine for 2d simple lines but when it comes to plines and other objects its a bit too cumbersome, and I even tried exploding everything and flattening everything but not even that worked to my likings.

How to go about creating a surface, region or 3D object using non-coplanar points? I'm drawing a few different 3D models for an artist friend of mine to use in her proposal on a local public art project.
However for this version I am bottlenecking on how to create these regions. I have vertical(ish) beams of varying height twisting in different directions with sheets of alternating metals welded in-between, the bottoms line up straight with the tops following an S curve but with the twisting geometry the top two endpoints for each will always be in separate planes.

Re: 2D circle jagged lines, 3D model hidden jagged lines. How do i get smooth lines?
How do i get rid of jagged lines?
Circles and diagonal lines look rubbish when i am in hidden view which i use for simple 3d black / white (i think this is the best way?).
I have tried:
- viewres (1000, 5000, 10000, 20000 sightly better)
- regen
See examples.

saving the 'Map Coordinate System' on a specific drawing? - For example, I need to use Coordinate System MGA-55 when working on an Australian Project, and UTM84-39N when working on a Kazakh Project, however, if I set my coordinate system to MGA-55, then save my drawing, the Coordinate system resets to UTM84-39N when I reopen the same drawing (it appears not to be saved with the drawing). I'm Using 'AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 (64bit) running on Windows 7.

I'm using Map3D & Raster Design 2012.
I have connected to some SRTM DEM data, but the resulting terrain and contours I generated are not showing properly. Specifically, the map area is stretched out of shape (too wide L & R). I seem to recall it had to do with setting the proper "define coordinate system" option for the file.

Im trying to setup the coordinate system right now before i import the data and i dont see an option that matches the map exactly. I am working in an office that uses AutoCAd 2004 LT. We often receive drawings from third parties that have Z co-ordinate information and as we are only using 2D it can cause a few problems when snapping to points.
I am inquiring if there is command or routine that can be incorporated into 2004 LT like the 'Flatten' command in 'Additional Tool' in full version of AutoCAD 2005 which converts all the Z values to 0.

I work in a manufacturing facility and we are trying to come up with a way to extract data from an AutoCAD file in to a .KML or .CSV file which gives coordinate points, etc.
This will be used in a mapping-type software to display/highlight areas of the plant with zooming capabilities and information shown on the left-side. We are trying to make it look something like Google Maps, so it can used to determine areas of the plant undergoing work, lighting zones, etc.
In a nutshell, I want to be able to extract coordinate data from our layout(s) which can used to pinpoint locations on the map and highlight regions, etc. Perhaps it could export data in to Excel with attributes assigned to the coordinates which give Area, Bay Location, etc. The initial thought was to somehow export this to a .KML file and use that as a starting point.

When moving the cursor over the drawing, it moves freely and the precision of the coordinates are still working to 4 decimal places. However, when I pick an object to move or copy and then try to move or copy it, the coordinate precision settings are changing to 0 decimal places and I'm unable to move things to exactly where I want - I can only move on a mm by mm basis. How do I return the precision settings of the coordinates back to 4 decimal places so I can move / copy objects without the current constraint I'm experiencing?

The following code works for querying the global coordinate system of a drawing
Dim Current1 As Autodesk.Gis.Map.MapApplication
Current1 = Autodesk.Gis.Map.HostMapApplicationServices.Application
Dim Proiect1 As Autodesk.Gis.Map.Project.ProjectModel
Proiect1 = Current1.ActiveProject
MsgBox(Proiect1.Projection.ToString)
The following line of code doesn't work
Proiect1.Projection = "UTM83-12"
On vb.net gives this: "Exception of type ‘Autodesk.Gis.Map.MapException was thrown."
In Autocad gives this error: "Cannot save projection code to the drawing"
The error log is:

I usually attach an xref to my drawing as a workflow, but I neverreally understand why its so difficult to locate it after importing. The xref almost always comes far away from theinsertion point. I tried to open thexref and set new ucs at the corner of the geometry but its all the same.
How can I coordinate xref ucs to my host drawing ucs?
