AutoCad 2D :: CHSPACE Changes Z-Coordinate
Sep 12, 2012In one of my drawings, whenever I use CHSPACE, the z-coordinate changed (not 0,0,0) wonder if there is any setting relate to this.

View 2 RepliesI started on AutoCAD about two weeks ago for my company. The drawings that I have done are in a viewport. There are objects outside of the viewport that I am supposed to copy and past into the viewport to use (transformers, anchors, other utility stuff). The problem with these is that they are in paperspace and I would like to copy them into modelspace. When I try to copy them into model space it says "Duplicate definition of block ****** ignored." able to copy and paste into drawing instead of doing insert command all the time and finding desired block. I am running autocad lt 2004 and do not have a chspace command.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use CHSPACE a lot to bring dimensions over to paper space off of my 3d structural steel models when I am doing site layouts. Occasionally the dimensions flip over upside down? I am guessing this has something to do with the UCS orientation between model and paper space, is there a system variable of setting or something that will stop them flipping over?
View 2 Replies View RelatedVersion of the CHSPACE.lsp command that has a "copy" option like the one from Intellicad? This version makes a copy of the selected objects first then moves them into the space you want, leaving the original objects alone in their original space.

saving the 'Map Coordinate System' on a specific drawing? - For example, I need to use Coordinate System MGA-55 when working on an Australian Project, and UTM84-39N when working on a Kazakh Project, however, if I set my coordinate system to MGA-55, then save my drawing, the Coordinate system resets to UTM84-39N when I reopen the same drawing (it appears not to be saved with the drawing). I'm Using 'AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 (64bit) running on Windows 7.

I have connected to some SRTM DEM data, but the resulting terrain and contours I generated are not showing properly. Specifically, the map area is stretched out of shape (too wide L & R). I seem to recall it had to do with setting the proper "define coordinate system" option for the file.
Im on a project including inserting an FAA sectional map and plotting new points on top of it. Im trying to setup the coordinate system right now before i import the data and i dont see an option that matches the map exactly. Im including the information from the metadata file included with the geotiff.

I am trying to create a new coordinate category using the "Coordinate System Category Manager". However, I get this message "Cannot add category to dictionary". I just want to put a couple of defined coordinate systems in a category so they'll be much easier to find.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working in an office that uses AutoCAd 2004 LT. We often receive drawings from third parties that have Z co-ordinate information and as we are only using 2D it can cause a few problems when snapping to points.
I am inquiring if there is command or routine that can be incorporated into 2004 LT like the 'Flatten' command in 'Additional Tool' in full version of AutoCAD 2005 which converts all the Z values to 0.
Possible to easily get a coordinate string of a polygon?
As in the coordinates of each of the vertexes within a polygon?
For example Easting1,Northing1,Easting2,Northing2, .... etc)
I work in a manufacturing facility and we are trying to come up with a way to extract data from an AutoCAD file in to a .KML or .CSV file which gives coordinate points, etc.
This will be used in a mapping-type software to display/highlight areas of the plant with zooming capabilities and information shown on the left-side. We are trying to make it look something like Google Maps, so it can used to determine areas of the plant undergoing work, lighting zones, etc.
In a nutshell, I want to be able to extract coordinate data from our layout(s) which can used to pinpoint locations on the map and highlight regions, etc. Perhaps it could export data in to Excel with attributes assigned to the coordinates which give Area, Bay Location, etc. The initial thought was to somehow export this to a .KML file and use that as a starting point.
I have somehow managed to screw up my z coordinate. x & y are active, but z is set at zero.
I have tried Change and Flatten, but have had no luck.
When moving the cursor over the drawing, it moves freely and the precision of the coordinates are still working to 4 decimal places. However, when I pick an object to move or copy and then try to move or copy it, the coordinate precision settings are changing to 0 decimal places and I'm unable to move things to exactly where I want - I can only move on a mm by mm basis. How do I return the precision settings of the coordinates back to 4 decimal places so I can move / copy objects without the current constraint I'm experiencing?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI usually attach an xref to my drawing as a workflow, but I neverreally understand why its so difficult to locate it after importing. The xref almost always comes far away from theinsertion point. I tried to open thexref and set new ucs at the corner of the geometry but its all the same.
How can I coordinate xref ucs to my host drawing ucs?
I currently have my elevation view set up so that the x-coordinates correspond to the stationing along my structure and the y-coordinate corresponds to the elevations. I have a block that will insert the y-coordinate as it should. However, the x-coordinate requires some formatting so that it is shown properly (e.g. "10+00").
I have an attribute equal to a the x-coordinate divided by 100 with the precision changed to 0. So, if my point is 1016.123, the formula converts that to 10. This field is followed by a plus sign and then another field. This last field is equal to the x-coordinate minus the x-coordinate converted as before, then times 100. The purpose being that if my x-coordinate is 1016.123, I would get 16.123 and my block attribute would reflect 10+16.123. The problem is that AutoCAD retains all of the x-coordinate's precision when subtracting and I end up with a result of 0. See attached for clarity - I know this last bit is hard to understand if you can actually see what's going on.
I understand that I could subtract out 1000, but when my stationing is beyond 20+00, I will only be subtracting 1000 and my result will not be correct.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having a drawing problem at work lately on Autocad 2007. Some lines I draw cannot be filled so I have to trim them instead. The reason why is that these lines are not coplanar. I've also noticed that the Z coordinate is not 0 and have checked on the 3d View that lines are awfully not in the same plan. Does it have to do with the X-line?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to custom dimensions about text of the coordinate in DWG. It should be like this:
I select a point then there displays a string of X,Y,Z coordinate of the point.
I select the second point to place a horizontal line(fixed lenth base the string font size) and then the string.
the whole process is like radialDimension, but what I need is to describe the point x,y,z.
and the drawing should consist of start point(actually is the target point too) and end point and the line connects the two points and a horizontal line and a string.
I think this should be completed using Dimension Class(should be CoordinateDimension based Dimension).
give me some codes. Codes is better in C# of VS2010 for autoCAD2010.
Actually there is a simple solution for this. Using c# to draw two lines and a string. But this is really bad experience when I want to move the string.
