I have never used this feature of autocad. I was messing around with it today with no luck. I went to help file and typed transparency and it showed how to add transparency to objects. I selected two similar lines and added 90% transparency on one of them. They both remained the same and plotted the same.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a circle with split into 5 segments (image A).All of the segments have a stroke (1px) of white, and a fill.
What I want is for the STROKE to be transparent so that when I position the 5 segments over a different background colour (image B) I see the colour underneath where the white stroke would otherwise appear. To recap - I would like to retain the width of the stroke, and make the stroke coloue transparent..
I've tried the Opacity setting, but this applies to the object, not just the stroke.

First Bug -> In my last contest work I've tried to embed many transparency effects. While I designing my graphic I've used (among many others) a transparency effect that named »Behind« (in my German version of CorelDRAW it's named »Hinter«). I've applied that effect to a texture bitmap graphic and it worked correctly so long the bitmap overlaid a vector shape in an ordinary way. But after I include the bitmap into the vector shape (using the vector shape as a Power Clip) obviously the used transparency effect conflict with the anti aliasing function of the vector shape and the smooth margins of the vector shape turned into rough boarders and the vector shape looked like a bitmap in a poor resolution. I guess it is only an indication error in CorelDRAW but for a designer's eyes this bug is very disturbing and should be corrected by Corel!
Second Bug -> Often I use CorelDRAW for vector illustrations and that's why I have to integrate scanned sketches (JPEG format) to build vector illustrations bases of it. Here we have another indication error or better to say a performance problem of CorelDRAW. While I using the sketch image in extended view mode the zoom function of CorelDRAW works correctly and pleasant fast. But if I switch to simple contour mode the performance of zoom mode of CorelDRAW worsens rapidly. The performance of my computer is not the problem with this because my hardware is on a high level and I use an well arranged and clean Windows 7 operating system. It would be nice if Corel is able to fix that problem because it disturbs the work flow enormous and it minishs the fun that I have while I'm using CorelDRAW!
Is it possible to resize objects by a mask transparency or using another object as a guide that has a black-white gradient?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm drawing some illustrations and want to fill overlapping objects with a paper texture. I have done this using the Transparency window and placing a paper texture image over each object. The problem is that where the objects overlap to create the whole picture, they are quite transparent and so you get the effect of layers of tissue paper. I want each object to look completely opaque, but despite opacity being set to 100% on each object, they don't.
I've tried filling the objects with lighter / darker paper texture images and tweaking the Transparency settings to Darker / Ligher / Soft or hard light, etc.
I'm in the process of drawing a site plan which contains buildings, roads and wooded areas. I want to draw roads which go through the wooded areas. I want both the road and the woods to be opaque except where the woods overlaps the road (I want the wood to be partially transparent at the overlap). Example of the effect I want is shown below. I don't get this effect when trying to use blending transparency modes. I'm sure it can be done with the opacity mask but I've tried all sorts of combinations and not managed to get this effect.

I have some brushes that emulate smoke, but I would like to ad transparency to them.

I would like the two pictures to blend in the middle from left to right.
The picture on the left will be sharpe on the left side but fade/transparent by the time it reaches the middle.
The picture on the right will be sharpe on the right side but fade/transparent in the middle.
I would think I need a gradient transparency (you always have to use a color)
I see pictures like this all the time, but can not seem to find the correct feature or combinations of features.
I am very much new to AutoCad, but have learned quite a bit about it in the last few days. As a part of the learning I have been building a 3D model of the shed my dad is building. But I ran into a problem on the roof and cant seem to figure out how to click everything into place.
My problem: I need to keep the size and shape of all objects while also connecting the objects to the main structure. I need to keep A and B connected to the main structure and adjust the angles so that both meet at C. But if I move one then another moves out of place. (In the pic B is out of place) All I want to do is hold the beams at A and B in their spot while adjusting the rotation on both beams to meet at C all at the same time. I have tried to fine adjust the rotation on the beams individually but still cant get them together. I cant seem to get the constraints feature to work, because I guess it only works in 2D. I have tried to use the align tool but it just throws everything haywire.
I have several .dwg files that I use as templates. I run find and replace VBA routines on the template .dwg files, ie find $Flavor$ and replace it with "Grape", and then I save the .dwg to another directory with a new name.
These VBA routines work well for acdbText and acdbMText objects, but I have a bunch of AcdbAttributeDefinition objects in the .dwg templates as well.
After much research about the AutoCAD object model (I'm mostly a Microsoft Access VBA programmer), I have come to understand that these AcdbAttributeDefinition objects are actually "remnants" of a block that no longer exists in the drawing.
Anyway, I'd like to convert all of these orphaned AcdbAttributeDefinition objects to acdbText objects in the templates and then delete the AcdbAttributeDefinition objects. I have some code that does just that.
However, the issue that I am having with the code is that the newly created acdbText objects are not on the same layer that the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects were on. I don't know the syntax to identify what layer the AcdbAttributeDefinition object is on or how to specify what layer on which the acdbText object is created.
how to keep the acdbText objects on the same layers as the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects during the conversion and deletion process?

I'd like to know how to align an object in model space with the edge of my viewport in paperspace.
When I draw, I like to lay out multiple complete drawings in model space, make an appropriately scaled bounding box around them, and then snap a view port to the bounding box in my layout. I usually have multiple drawings lined up in a row in modelspace, so when I want a new layout I do a Save As and then pan around in my viewport to find the next bounding box, at which point I have to resize the viewport to get it to snap to the edges nicely. I really want to be able to to it the otehr way around- while panning I'd like to be able to grab a corner of my modelspace bouding box and snap it to the the corresponding corner of my viewport window. That way making new layouts would be a snap. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 2012 LT?
A user is having problems when using the copy command in AutoCAD 2013.
When they select objects, its not reporting on the commandline how many objects its found or keeping a running total of objects selected. Not even any duplications...
I've tested it on my machine but i cannot replicate the issue and have never come across this before!
Is it a bug? Is it a variable? User setting etc.
Something changed in my settings & I don't know how to chance it back. I can't click on to select objects inside or behind objects. What do I have to change to be able to select any item I click on regardless of where it is?

However, the mtext entity always moves position slightly (compared to the original text entity) after converting the object. better lisp that converts multiple text entities into mtext entities (which are all separate still, i.e. not joined together) without the position of the entity changing?

I am currently selecting 10 objects from a picture and then I delete the background. This leaves just the 10 objects of interest in the image.
I have hundreds of these images and would like to compare the number of pixels or diameter of the objects across the images for each of the 10 objects. Is there a way I can automate Photoshop to go through a directory of images and measure the pixels of each of the 10 objects, and then export those measurements to a file?
How does one remedy this Adobe error message? "Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use." This one always gets me. I'll spend more time trying to find the object in question. This has happened in almost al versions, but this time it's CS5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI often produce graphics in CorelDRAW, export it as en eps file and insert it inside a MS Word document as an image and finally convert it to pdf. This way my vector graphics (often linedrawings with or without fill) usually is preserved in the final pdf document. I can zoom in and the lines keep on displaying perfectly sharp. This is important, since it easily looks bad when thin lines are turned into bitmaps, even when watched from a distance.
Now, in some graphics I created today, I had a circle with fountain fill and outline (symbolizing a sphere) put behind a filled rectangle, which had a uniform transparency applied to it. In the resulting pdf file, the 'sphere' was turned into bitmap. Inside CorelDRAW everything was vector graphics, but something was loast in the process. what happens with the graphics in the different steps in the process and eventually could explain a workaround to make everything look as vector in the final pdf file.
I use a lot of PDF and Raster images to reference, now I have two different PDFs that are over lapped.
Is there a way to make the top PDF say 50% transparent so I can see both at the same time?
Is it able to change the transparency of a layer? I know how to get the value but i can't find how to set a new one!

I've found a hotfix for 2012 that I've used to solve some issues with tranparent parts in shaded views and that leads to this question.
In an IDW , "non shaded", "hidden lines removed", view are there any tricks for being able to see parts behind a transparent part?
I know I can change the view to display hidden lines and delete what I don't want. This works ok for a small assembly, but for a larger assembly, is not feasible or at least very tedious.
I am currently making a 3d tower and the outside of the tower is glass, but when i apply the colored glass i want you can see the whole way through the tower. That isn't what it looks like in real life.
I tried adjusting the transparency of the material and the glass is still see through. I then changed it to a solid glass but then i couldn't get the color that i want and it doesn't look realistic. i tried messing with the opacity, again that had no effect. i am using AutoCad 2013.
Why the maximum transparency value has been capped at 90%?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running AutoCAD 2013. My issue is that the top row of icons (New, Open, Save, etc. and all of the Autodesk 360 info) have become nearly invisible. If I hover the cursor over the icon it tells me what it is and I know I am clicking in the correct area. I think it was some sort of background transparency issue, but can't remember where to reset that to opaque.

How can I make a raster image transparent? I would like to see image #2 below image #1 by making image #1 semi-transparent. I can make one specific color in the image transparent..I am working from a scanned image in jpeg format. I would think it should be easy because any Microsoft Office program can do it. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have multiple drawings I've been working on that have tif files laid in the background that I have been making my drawings over the top of. In order to make the linework easier to see, both on screen and on plot, I applied a 65% transparency to the layer containing the tif. Everything worked fine, and printing worked great, but when I tried to plot them to pdf, the transparency failed to plot properly. I tried PrimoPDF and the transparency worked, but the paper sizes didn't include Arch D and the plot didn't look as crisp as the one produced by AutoCAD. In the end, I ended up pay $5 per print to have the DWG files processed, because I needed the transparency to plot properly. I would like to figure out what the problem was so that next time I need to send out for prints.
