I started a new Windows application C# project in Visual Studio 2005, my intention is to use COM only in this one, not the .NET wrappers. So I added the references like the Autocad 2008 ActiveX and VBA developers guide states:
To fully access AutoCAD automation objects from Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET, create references to the following files:
•The AutoCAD 2008 type library, acax17enu.tlb, located at c:program filescommon filesautodesk shared.
•The AutoCAD/ObjectDBX Common 17.0 type library, axdb17enu.tlb, located at c:program filescommon filesautodesk shared.
After adding the references I have under project references “AXDBLib”, but it has the yellow warning sign over it. The error list has two lines: Cannot find wrapper assembly for type library "AXDBLib".
The referenced component 'AXDBLib' could not be found. So what’s the problem and how to fix it? I can get around the reference error using late binding and referencing nothing, but late binding is kind of unnatural with C#.
I´ve used AutoCAD for a while but this just appeared. The reference points are not displayed on a current line (or any other figure) when I want to join another figure with it, what I mean is that the little green x or square figures won´t appear when I want to join two objects at a point. If I create a circle, for example, and I want to create another circle around it, both with the same origin, AutoCAD won´t display that origin automatically.
whenever I click to attach a drawing reference nothing happens. I don't get the browse to file window.
I've tried using the GUI from the View menu / Palettes panel/external palette, Also from the command prompt by typing external references and attach still no joy.
I have all SPs installed. I tried exporting another user's profile and importing it to my CAD. Do I have to reinstall the software from scratch?
I have a sketch reference that is giving a cross part failure error. I am unable to select the reference in the browser so I cant delete it or update it.
How to get rid of it. Deleting the sketch and starting again will be a disaster.
We are using Autocad Civil 3D 2010 and are also using the 2010 Vault.
We are having problems with one project in Civil 3D (project in Vault). We are trying to create a surface reference and are getting the error: "Drawing is already attached to project X."
Note: This drawing is not vaulted, only the cross section surface that has the final grade surface in it is vaulted.
When we test the same process with a new document we are able to reference the surface fine and the command shows: _AeccCreateSurfaceReference which works properly.
I have assemblies that are comprised of reference parts - the assembly is a purchased part such as an air cylinder. I have them as reference only in the assembly (ie right click on the parts in the model tree->BOM Reference->Reference). I do it this way so I can adjust the air cylinder how I need it, but still only asign one part number to the whole assembly - as an example we'll say "cylinderX" is the part number, and filename is "cylinderX.iam"
The problem arises when I put cylinderX.iam into other assemblies and try and make drawings of those assemblies. Even though cylinderX.iam is not a reference part (but all it's sub components are), it shows up in an IDW just like reference parts. I am able to make it show up how I want by editing the view properties (Edit View->Model State Tab->Reference Data Line Style "as parts"), but I still cannot balloon cylinderX.iam. It shows up in the parts list, but I cannot attach a balloon to it.

the possibility of displaying a random frame from the timeline in one of the views. Pure luxury if this was wipeable over the result! A lot of people ask for lustre, I would be happy enough with that "wipe" at the moment. CFX works fine for grading, but without reference..How are you dealing with this, is there a "secret button"?
I have an old 3DSMax file that when I open it in 3DSMax 2011 I get an error saying it can't find a few JPG files needed for some materials. Normally, I would simply go into the material editor and delete the materials that are referencing that file, but I cannot find those materials no matter how hard I search. For example, I used the "Material > Get All Scene Materials" function in the slate editor, and looked at each one's maps rollout--but I could not find the problematic references.
I did find the problematic file references in the "Asset Tracking" dialog and figured I might be able to remove them in there, but alas I was unable to do so. Maybe I don't know the full extent of what the Asset Tracking dialog is for?
Is there a way to remove materials in the scene that are causing those problems? I'm not sure what is causing the error.

I'm creating a window family by modifying a pre-existing one. One of the things I need to do is to move the reference planes defining the "left" and "right" edges of the window opening, so as to make to opening wider, but I'm not allowed to do it. The reference planes always move together, so that I'm stuck with a 3'-0" wide opening no matter what I do. I can't find any constraints linking the reference planes to each other or to a 3'-0" dimension - I can't find any constraints on them at all, in fact.
The file in question is attached. As I mentioned, the reference planes I'm concerned about are called "left" and "right". I have been able to move other reference planes in the file.
I have structures and alignments data referenced. If I assign the structures ref alignments in the dwg with the data refs for labeling, the next time I open the dwg the ref alignments are set back to none, causing the labels to be ?
I'm working on a large infrastructure project with numerous of drawings. On quite a few layout drawings I need to have the same base set of references, however I need to change the layer settings (colors, lineweight etc.). This cannot be done in the base reference itself as it is used by others. As the layouts I work with includes other references as well, it is time consuming to filter and change layer settings on each base reference.
My concept is to have a master reference file to manage all layer settings and add/remove base references. When the master reference is referenced into the layout, all layer settings on the base references should stay as set in the master reference. In this way I can easily control all base references with one file and make sure all changes will be the same for all the layouts.
I am getting this error in my production drawings.
My setup is as follows:
- EG.dwg has my existing surface in it. I create a data reference to use it in other drawings.
- Level One.dwg has the EG surface data referenced in, and I use this to create alignments, profiles, and finish surface. All of these are turned in to data references.
- Storm Sanitary.dwg has my pipe designs. I data reference in the two surfaces, profiles, and alignments, and create pipe networks. I create references for these networks.
- Plan Profile.dwg is the production sheet I'm getting this error from. Every one of my civil objects is data referenced in to this drawing. Everything is inserted correctly, the pipes show correct FG surface elevations for their rims, etc.
BUT when I open this drawing, I get this error. I assume it's because my FG surface is not directly in the storm sanitary.dwg.
How do I get rid of this error, without combining drawings, or promoting the surface to one or more drawings? Isn't this exactly what data references is made for?
1. i can't snap to cue mark. When having a lot of cue mark and long duration of edit. I have to really zoom in to frame level to be able to place my positioner at the exact frame to delete cue mark. What if for example , i have to delete 30 cue mark ? Snap will be handy to place positioner to delete cue mark.
2. Is it possible in smoke to place/add cue mark at a selected clip ? right now i can only place it at timeline , not at the clip.
I am trying to cache some exr files and for some reason Smoke can´t read the files:
Using the media hub I am able to view the exr file and can work with them as long as I don´t cache them. As soon as I cache them they are black and I get the message "unable to read media"
Is this some known bug? Backburner works perfectly (after tweaking some things with Mikes great tutorial), I can cache other files but not these exrs.
When setting up a new project, I'm unable to change the bit depth for the project. It's set to 8-bit and ghosted. The graphics render button has a selector but when clicked it doesn't bring up the drop down.
My guess is that it has something to do with my hardware configuration (read: I need to upgrade my GPU) .
Why can't i commit the clip on desktop ? there's no 'commit' in the right click menu. To get this menu, i have to right- clicking the clip in timeline. So let say my clip in the desktop , first i have to drag it into timeline , or open it as sequence. Now in timeline , i commit the clip, then put back (drag) the clip into desktop. That's weird workflow... why can't i just do commit the clip in desktop so i don't need to go through that process ?
Is there an option to turn off the Axis Icon while in the 2d transform? I'm setting a context view on a stereo node and then adjust the convergence in the 2d transform, and the axis icon Is driving me crazy. There doesn't seem to be any options to turn it off.
Having cut together a short commercial recently, I have been unable to export my sequence/ work. There are no error messages, only incomplete exported versions of the sequence (sometimes 1 second, sometimes 8 seconds!) or nothing at all. It will go through the motions and not generate an exported file.
I have attempted to export my sequence multiple ways - from the timeline, from the media library and from the mediahub - with identical results. I'm totally at a loss. I've also gone back to a sequence which I was able to export successfully one month ago and now I get the same problem - either no result or some fractional piece of the edit - never more than a few seconds. My finished edit, by the way, is a 30-second spot.
For example, here's one way I've attempted to export:
1. I select my sequence from the media library and right-click for export. 2. I select movie, choose my destination, and select a format preset (I've tried just about every preset, hoping it was a preset error of some kind), and 3. I hit export.
Instead of the spinning prompt in the lower left corner, showing me a percentage countdown (or count-up) - which was present a month ago when I was las exporting a show -I get a quick audio mixdown prompt in the lower left then nothing. It all happens in less than 1 second from the time I press "export".
I've copied the console log for your review. This particular effort/ screenshot resulted in an 8-second clip, which is the longest one (still incomplete) I've been able to generate since I attempted to export starting yesterday. Again, my sequence is 30 seconds, and it either does nothing, generates an empty file (45k in size) or creates an incomplete movie file (usually 1 or 2 seconds).
I've been trying to export via the Wiretap Central, but when I try to open the IFFFS folder I get an error message: Unable to access the volume stonefs1: the given volume does not have a corresponding hardware partition.
I'm trying unArchive a project and having difficulty linking the footage. The project opens fine, but cannot locate any of the media. The footage is in the same location as it previouly was. What am I missing?
I downloaded a trial version and installed but some reason I can not see my "Volume" (external FW800 G-Tech Drive 7200 rpm) in order to import files into the project that I created. I'm actually running a MacBook Pro (13 inch)and the latest version of OSX. I'm salivating to try this out but I'm stuck.
When I go into CFX/Action my broadcast monitor switches to the schematic view. Since I already have the schematic view on my computer monitor I want the broadcast monitor to keep the final output. I looked in the preferences but I can't find the right setting. Is there a away to do this?
I cant seem to find filter select or a list view for the record area. Both of these functions come in handy on feature films and episodic television especially vfx heavy shows.
I am experimenting with Smoke 2013 pre-trial and I am having issues with importing images and video with alpha channels.
1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?
I really like the option to reference a .dgn into Civil3d but I have noticed an alignment issue. If I use Map Import and bring in a .dgn, (without changing any import defaults) then reference the same file it never ends up exactly aligned with the original data. It's almost like a coordinate surface conversion but it's only off +/-29'. I set-up my coordinates units under settings in my toolspace and get the same results.
I'm currently working on a job in a team where we'll be working on different drawings, yet have the other drawings x-referenced into our drawings to keep up with updated files. We've had no issues with this for the few months we've been doing this, until overnight one night this week it seemed everything changed.
I'm currently updating our elevations while my partner is updating the plans. I have those plans x-referenced into my elevation drawings. The issue that we've run into is simply that any time I have my elevations or any drawing open that contains an x-reference, the file that is being referenced won't open without stating "[that file] is currently in use by [other user]. Would you like to open the file read-only?"
I've seen this alert before and it's understandable when dealing with the actual file (one person opens a file another already has open), but I've never before had this alert stem from the file in question being an xref. I closed my elevations and then opened the plans with no problem...no alert stating they were in use by someone else.
All of the patterned parts in my assembly show up as reference parts in the BOM I have I have opened the base part for the pattern and made sure its BOM is set to normal. When I change the BOM setting in the assembly it automatically changes to reference.
