1. i can't snap to cue mark. When having a lot of cue mark and long duration of edit. I have to really zoom in to frame level to be able to place my positioner at the exact frame to delete cue mark. What if for example , i have to delete 30 cue mark ? Snap will be handy to place positioner to delete cue mark.
2. Is it possible in smoke to place/add cue mark at a selected clip ? right now i can only place it at timeline , not at the clip.
When I park on a frame in the timeline, using the hotkey MarkOut places the outpoint 1 frame later in the sequence. The same thing happens when using the MarkOut button.
I am trying to cache some exr files and for some reason Smoke can´t read the files:
Using the media hub I am able to view the exr file and can work with them as long as I don´t cache them. As soon as I cache them they are black and I get the message "unable to read media"
Is this some known bug? Backburner works perfectly (after tweaking some things with Mikes great tutorial), I can cache other files but not these exrs.
When setting up a new project, I'm unable to change the bit depth for the project. It's set to 8-bit and ghosted. The graphics render button has a selector but when clicked it doesn't bring up the drop down.
My guess is that it has something to do with my hardware configuration (read: I need to upgrade my GPU) .
Why can't i commit the clip on desktop ? there's no 'commit' in the right click menu. To get this menu, i have to right- clicking the clip in timeline. So let say my clip in the desktop , first i have to drag it into timeline , or open it as sequence. Now in timeline , i commit the clip, then put back (drag) the clip into desktop. That's weird workflow... why can't i just do commit the clip in desktop so i don't need to go through that process ?
Is there an option to turn off the Axis Icon while in the 2d transform? I'm setting a context view on a stereo node and then adjust the convergence in the 2d transform, and the axis icon Is driving me crazy. There doesn't seem to be any options to turn it off.
Having cut together a short commercial recently, I have been unable to export my sequence/ work. There are no error messages, only incomplete exported versions of the sequence (sometimes 1 second, sometimes 8 seconds!) or nothing at all. It will go through the motions and not generate an exported file.
I have attempted to export my sequence multiple ways - from the timeline, from the media library and from the mediahub - with identical results. I'm totally at a loss. I've also gone back to a sequence which I was able to export successfully one month ago and now I get the same problem - either no result or some fractional piece of the edit - never more than a few seconds. My finished edit, by the way, is a 30-second spot.
For example, here's one way I've attempted to export:
1. I select my sequence from the media library and right-click for export. 2. I select movie, choose my destination, and select a format preset (I've tried just about every preset, hoping it was a preset error of some kind), and 3. I hit export.
Instead of the spinning prompt in the lower left corner, showing me a percentage countdown (or count-up) - which was present a month ago when I was las exporting a show -I get a quick audio mixdown prompt in the lower left then nothing. It all happens in less than 1 second from the time I press "export".
I've copied the console log for your review. This particular effort/ screenshot resulted in an 8-second clip, which is the longest one (still incomplete) I've been able to generate since I attempted to export starting yesterday. Again, my sequence is 30 seconds, and it either does nothing, generates an empty file (45k in size) or creates an incomplete movie file (usually 1 or 2 seconds).
I've been trying to export via the Wiretap Central, but when I try to open the IFFFS folder I get an error message: Unable to access the volume stonefs1: the given volume does not have a corresponding hardware partition.
I'm trying unArchive a project and having difficulty linking the footage. The project opens fine, but cannot locate any of the media. The footage is in the same location as it previouly was. What am I missing?
I downloaded a trial version and installed but some reason I can not see my "Volume" (external FW800 G-Tech Drive 7200 rpm) in order to import files into the project that I created. I'm actually running a MacBook Pro (13 inch)and the latest version of OSX. I'm salivating to try this out but I'm stuck.
When I go into CFX/Action my broadcast monitor switches to the schematic view. Since I already have the schematic view on my computer monitor I want the broadcast monitor to keep the final output. I looked in the preferences but I can't find the right setting. Is there a away to do this?
I cant seem to find filter select or a list view for the record area. Both of these functions come in handy on feature films and episodic television especially vfx heavy shows.
I know that the AJA Kona 3 card has 2 outputs. Can Smoke send one eye to one channel and the other eye to the other of the Kona 3 card? Dual Stream output is what I am really getting at.
Is there any way that Smoke can see/output sub-blacks and super whites? Can't find any way of seeing them on my scope, Smoke just clamps everything. It won't even see anything below zero in order for me to make a correction on it, everything seems to be clamped on import. I'm using ProRes HQ footage.
What is the best plugin to do spline warps in smoke?(need something like the distort in flame) I notice revisionfx don't make a warper for smoke on mac.
I am experimenting with Smoke 2013 pre-trial and I am having issues with importing images and video with alpha channels.
1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?
I have created a model on autocad which I have imported into autodesk inventor publisher...for my project I have to simulate an object's assembly and subsequent dissassembly. But to begin with my model is assembled so i have exploded it and now I want to put it back together - however I can't get the program to remember the position each component was originally in so when i try and move each component back it's all over the place and looks awful. Is there a way to mark an object's intial location so that i can move it back to exactly that place?
Does Smoke have selection functionality similar to that of Combustion? As an example, you might want to selectively blur part of an image. In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?
Installed cs6 which seemed to be working just fine until I attempted to open a CR2 file from a canon 5D Mark III, will not open, checked for RAW updates.
I have got some levels for games I'm working on and a lot of the items have to seal off perfectly, etc etc.
I often cannot snap to any item in an XRef Scene under some circumstances. I think that these are scenes that are failing because some are referencing each other and access stops for some reason...
In the examples:
Scene 1: Referencing Scenes 2 & 3 Scene 2: Referencing Scenes 1 & 3 Scene 3: Referencing Scenes 1 & 2
When editing Scene 2, I am able to snap to Scene 3, but not Scene 1. I don't know if it's something about a reference being an overlay (which all are) and the ordering it loads... I know that in the XRef Scene dialog it lists them (in example above) as Scene 3 above Scene 1 ... but I have not experimented with removing one and inputting them in another order... since it seems that any time I delete a scene from the list in an XRef scene dialog, Max crashes.
Developer of Wall Worm - the 3ds Max Pipeline for the Source Game Engine CorVex Level Design Plugin
I am working on a large site - I can't snap to anything and vertices fly off into space when I try to move them. I have set my unit slider to maximum with no luck.
Whats the dealing with importing TWs to Smoke? I have a show that's 70% keyframed with timewarps and need a way other then baking the effect to bring it into Smoke. It's comming from FCP7 and we have Automatic Duck but neither the XMLs or AAF bring anything other then the first speed of the clip. Any way to retain the keyframes?
I need to be able to snap som lines etc to some hatches. I have set Options - Drafting and unchecked "Ignore hatch objects" and OSNAPHACTH: 1 and it still doesnt snap.
After upgrading to ACA 2011 in plan view I am unable to snap to the edges of walls. Toggling the osnap setting check box to allow object snap to act on wall justification lines seems to have no effect as it always snaps only to the justification line and to nothing else. This is extremely annoying and makes it impossible to dimension to the face of a wall that is center justified. Is this a bug or am I missing some new setting somewhere? All my layers are unfrozen including layer 0.
