at multiple places i have drawn the same block in a drawing, and i would like select one block in the drawing, then iterate through the items in the block, and find the actual coordinates of a 3d-polyline (that is drawn in that block) in modelspace. How can I do this?
View 8 RepliesIf you create a group, after that select it and click on the insertion point (grip) using a lot of time the space bar (to switch between move, rotate, scale and mirror) after a while autocad crash.
Tested in AutoCAD 2013 and 2014 in more the one installation.
I am still getting used to version 2010, and am unable to paste items into an existing block, is there a setting I can adjust to remedy this?

My problem is the following : I explode a block reference in dotnet (it works well) and I want to change the items layer that compose the bloc reference. It's the reason why i need to browse items of this block.
Since Bolts nuts and key shafts are not sectioned according to standards I can´t find a way to section a shaft inside a section view without cutting through these components. I have posted in attachment an example of the problem and a picture of what it should be like.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on translating a VBA routine that worked just fine, to VB.NET & I have had a lot of porblems with it. Yes, I am new to VB.NET. My routine renames XREF file names & opens drawings that have these files XREF'd into them & resets their paths to the renamed file. My VBA routine used a few thisdrawing.sendcommand operations to do things like reload xrefs, unlock layers etc. Some of these worked in the VB.NET version while I only had getten as far as having the only DWG open that was the one which I call the routing from. When it gets into opening another drawing I start getting all sorts of problems.
I worked these out by creating a NEWDOC as DOCUMENT object & setting autodesk....MDIcurrentdocument to the filename of the just opened DWG file & then eliminating my sendcommand calls & replaceing them with record table operations.
Now I'm getting a file access error when trying to reload an XREF using document.reloadxrefs(objectidcollection).
I've tried not to nest transactions. I've tried to make sure all my transactions frpm the current DWG not the original.
How to work with multiple DWG files. Maybe a simple example of reloading an XREF named "X" in a bunch of DWGs saved at some specific location could be given? Focusing on transactions, documents, & databases.

All the objects in this Set are Multi Text, so I am wondering how is possible to have access to the property Text Height of these objects inside the Set in order to change the value of this property. I have created a variable as AcadMText but is not possible for me to loaded it with any item from objSS.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem iterating heights when making a polyline between two different points that have Z-values. I've used Autocad Civil 3D for working with geodetic data with height measurements before and I remember using geodetically measured height values, transforming them into a surface and then when I create a 3Dpolyline within this area the polyline automatically gets z-values that change along the line.
In other words, I could use this 3Dpolyline to obtain a profile that gives me z-values even where there is no exact point with a value has been physically measured. It was a while ago I worked with Autocad and now when I started again I have a similar problem but can't manage to create a surface and get iterated values.
My exact problem this time is:
I have a sewage pipe that runs for several kilometers that is drawn as a 3Dpolyline, with correct x- and y-values. It doesn't have any z-values yet and these are what I want to obtain. I want the polyline to have continuous z-values that changes along the polyline (not only in vertexes) so that a smooth profile can be drawn if wanted. I have data of measured actual z-values for approximately every 500 meters or so along the sewage pipe and these are currently drawn as 3Dpolylines of around 20 meters going perpendicular to the pipe (as in the picture). In other words there are bars with z-values crossing the pipe all along the stretch. Now, what I want to do is to somehow make the polyline that represent the pipe to get the heights from these perpendicular bars with the measured z-values. If I try to draw a new 3Dpolyline between two of the measured bars where the actual pipe is supposed to be, the end vertexes of the 3Dpolyline gets the z-values of the bars. However, the value in between the bars gets the Z-value 0. So, if I start a 3Dpoly on bar 1 then continue the pipe with another vertex, and then finish off at the second bar I will have 2 vertexes with the correct z-value but the middle vertex will be incorrect (0). How do I get the pipe to get the correct z values automatically iterated from the values on the crossing bars? Is this even possible to do? Should I create a surface from the bars first, and in that case how do I do that? If possible I don't only want the vertexes between bars to have iterated z-values, I also want the entire line to have a correct value.
I've attached a crappy image made in paint (since I don't have Autocad on my home PC, only at the office). And just to make things even clearer I'll give an example. Let's say the pipe distance from 1 to 2 is 10 meters, the distance between 1 to 3 is 30 meters and the z-values of bar A and bar B is 10 and 25 respectively. So, when I draw a 3Dpolyline from 1 to 4, I want the vertex 2 to automatically get z-value 15 (since it's 1/3 on the way to B). In the same way, I would like for example the point on the pipe that is right in between 2 and 3 to have the z-value 20. I won't mind redoing the bars to for example singular points instead, if that makes it all easier.

View 8 Replies View RelatedMy application, writing in C#, exports all vertex-data of parts in an assembly to external files.It uses the surfacebody.getExistingFacets method to do this and shows a progressbar to visualise progress.
The application works fine, only when it is finished, when I zoom in or zoom out in inventor, a huge delay exists before the actual zoom is done. And everytime I scroll the mouse wheel or touch my 3D mouse the delay is there.It's really up to several seconds everytime.
However when I close the assembly and re-open it again immediately after my app finished, these delays are not there anymore.Do I have recalculate something, or do I have to invoke a 'free-something' command ?
I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
new to dynamic blocks but looking to streamline my wiring diagrams here and have created a block that shows the typical wire styles we use in a simple easy way. I now want to add an overall flip to the entire block and have not been able to find set this. I would prefer to use the same label and go from there. I have included the block to show what I mean. It is only working on the single visible item at the one time. I know this has to be possible just let me know what I am doing wrong. I am running AutoCad LT 2013
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a 'duplicateLayer' function, and I've read all the related posts on these forums. It seems most of the responses have only addressed art inside a layer, and not nested layers/groups. I need to be able to duplicate ALL items in a layer.
I can get the sub-layers, but I can't figure out how to preserve order of the items in the new layer. For example, if my layer looks like this:
layer 1
art 1
art 2
sub layer 1
sub art 1
art 3
I can call layer.pageItems to get my three art objects and duplicate them, and I can call layer.layers to get my one sub layer and duplicate it. But how do I preserve the same order of the art objects and sub layers with respect to each other?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe use a number of blocks with block tables for data extraction here, and whenever one of the blocks is modified and updated, all of the block tables reset to the default value. This happens for any block reference change, not just changes to the block table (which makes sense that it would reset).
How can we update these blocks without having to manually change all of the block tables afterwards?
I am in the process of fixing one of our dynamic blocks. It's a fairly simple fix where there was a typo in one of the names of our items in the lookup that needed to be fixed.
I changed the name of the item in the lookup table. I went and did the test block and it seemed to work fine, but when I bring the block into a drawing, it reverts back to the old lookup as if I did nothing at all.
I made sure that the path was correct and I even just dragged and dropped straight from Windows Explorer to no avail.Does AutoCAD keep referring to the old block? Did I forget to change something else?
I have a block containing several parts blocks. When I explode the main block all of the parts are exploded back to lines. I have used both "explode" and "xplode" and have the same results. How can I explode so I have my components as blocks?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe're using C3D 2013 SP2. The survey company we use uses point styles to show the blocks. Say they shoot a catchbasin. Instead of inserting the block, the point shows up as the block.
I did a field check & needed to insert a missed CB. When I inserted the block, the other points that were CBs disappeared. I had to insert the block, copy it the clipboard, undo the insertion & then paste the block in. It did this on other drawings & other blocks.
Is it possible, via whatever methods (lisp?) to be able to have a premade block with an attribute and insert it into a drawing then assign a value to it by selecting another existing block in the drawing and using one of its own attribute’s values?
For example, say I have a block representing a telephone and it had an attribute called "PhoneNo" and I inserted it into a drawing showing an office floor plan that had blocks in each office space that are telephone junction boxes with attributes "PhoneExtension". I would like to be able to autocomplete the entering of the “PhoneNo” data by selecting one of the telephone junction boxes in the drawing and using its attribute’s value.
I have created a dynamic block with a stretch, flip and rotate. Everything works great in its file. When I insert it in another file, the grips move but the block does not change.

I get an AutoCAD drawing from my conveyor manufacturer who have buried a block (tagname) in all of their conveyor blocks.
The only way to remove them is to manually use BEDIT and erase the tagname block.
Is there a way through Autolisp to search all blocks in a drawings and if the tagname block is part of the definition of the conveyor block, erase the tagname block or redefine the conveyor block without the tagname block.
We have a title block and border which is used in MS. If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected. We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing. ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks. We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.
The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again. Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?

When dynamic blocks are inserted they're assigned an anonymous block name. I'd like to be able to retrieve the name of the parent block after selecting the block on screen using AutoLisp.
Need a bit of code that handles this?
my problem is whenever i make a new block a stretch point appears even if its not a dynamic block . also its not a stretch point, because when i click on it, it just move the block , and it always appear on the coordinates 0,0 it cause me a problem when I insert the block , autocad use this point as a base point , and its very far from the real block .

I then save the block using the command line or ribbon button then immediately try to close the block editor without moving or changing anything. A dialog appears saying the changes have not been saved to the block and would I like to save? If I say no don't save my changes and reopen the block the changes have in fact been saved.
My question is there a way to get around this dialog box -Suppress it like FILEDIA = 0 for block editor or an option so it doesn't ask me to save.
The goal is to do this all from the command line w/ out dialog boxes.
When editing block in-place, not onely objects in the block, but also other objects (just drawn normal in modelspace), is affected by the commands.

I have an existing title block a few text attributes, to which I wish to add a watermark. I have added it in the block editor as a normal attribute, with the same details as the other attributes that work, only a different tag name. It has a default value, "DRAFT" and is tagged "WMARK". It works fine in the Block Editor, and If I test the block I can edit it to display whatever I want, but if I save the block and open it from Autocad proper, the attribute is not in existence, either as a default value, or editable from block properties, attribute editor or title block editor, whereas all of the other attributes are there. I have used BattMan to verify the settings of the attribute, and the only difference is that the others all have "L" in the "Modes" column, but I think that means that their position is "locked" whereas my new attribute is justified "aligned" therefore cannot be "locked" (This is some assumption on my part, as the documentation on the "Modes" column is almost non-existent). I cannot afford to waste much more time on this issue, as the boss is breathing down my neck, but editing watermarks on every drawing after every revision is frustrating, when it could be an attribute that is editable from the title block editor.
