Sep 30, 2013I want to embed a Tiff (raster image) in my drawing without using Attach, Xref or as an OLE object. I've done a fair amount of searching but haven't found the "correct" answer.
I'm using AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 on a company system. I create hybrid drawings by attaching a pdf or tiff but it requires a path to the graphic object, which makes things very difficult on a highly managed server system. If the drawing is moved to a different location, the image doesn't move with it and now the hybrid drawing is blank. As such, the image must be embedded without an external path.
I can't use etransmit. I can't use an OLE. I was told about IEMBED and I actually managed to make it work (once) but can't recreate it. I haven't been able to find a useful procedure or instructions for IEMBED.

Dec 16, 2011why with autocad 2012 mechanical, I can't no more embed PDF or Images to a drawing but only load it as references, linked to a file path?
Previously I used Autocad 2009 MEC and there wasn't this problem.
I shall fix this because, when I load a dwg to our company management system, the pdf or images shall be embed to the dwg file.
If I load the pdf as OLE Object, it doesn't lock the view and the pdf zoom canghe with the dwg zoom, so it is acceptable.

Aug 20, 2013Due to customer constraints I have to embed .tif images into AutoCAD drawings. This is a manual operation doing a copy ->pastespecial. I was wondering if there was any way to automate this? The pastespecial command doesn't seem to take arguments to bypass the dialoge box and therefore does not allow me to batch embed .tifs programatically.

Dec 23, 2013I have a user that is trying to link a MS Word document to a .iam file.
When he attempts to do this Inventor will embed the file instead of linking it.
Is it a config setting?
Here are the steps he is using for this process:
1) Open an assembly into the Inventor workspace.
2) Go to "Manage" tab.
3) Click "Insert Object" link in ribbon.
4) Select "Create from File."
5) Browse for word document.
6) Checkmark "Link" option.
7) Hit "OK."
The result of this sequence of operations produces an "embedded" file, not a linked file.
I can link this file on any other computer except this workstation.
AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Embed Linked Excel Spreadsheets
Mar 13, 2012We had a client who could not open our drawings that had linked Excel spreadsheets in them even though we supplied the spreadsheets. The drawings would crash AutoCAD when they tried to open them.
My solution was to open the drawings, pick on the Linked Spreadsheet OLE in the drawing, Ctrl+C (Edit > Copy) then I Edit > Paste Special > As Image. I would paste it in at the lower left corner of the existing spreadsheet.
I set the properties of the new OLE so the Lock Aspect Ratio was Off or No and drag the upper right corner of my newly inserted image to the upper right corner of the existing linked spreadsheet so it would be a perfect match.
I then erased the existing linked spreadsheet.
Now they can open the files and we don't need to include the spreadsheet when we send the files.

Jan 12, 2013I have put together some ilogic code which is embedded within a part template, this auto populates the iproperties with the profiles length,width and thickness, and also automatically updates when any changes are made to the said profile When I hit save.
This works a treat when creating new parts, the problem arises when re-using old parts from previous jobs (Which is a regular occurrence),prior to when the code was created.
So I have to run the code as an external rule, but this has caught me,and a few other people out, as we have forgotten to run the rule after making a change to the part so the iproperties aren't automatically updated.
My question is, is there a snippet of code that I could add to my code, which embeds the the externally ran rule to the Ipt?

Oct 28, 2013What do you think it's better between Attach JPEG image vs Embed OLE Objects in Cad Drawings? I have used OLE Object in the past and i problem i have is that, I can't rotate OLE object/image i can scale and move. i can't clip OLE obj. For Attach JPEG or PDF when someone accidently delete the JPEG which were attached out of the computer then when i open the file it will show "Not found" on the external Ref. this won't happen in OLE obj. i tried not to use either of these methods above because it increases the size of the dwg but this is how the Co Worker wants for this project. The drawing size is less than 1000KB not too bad.

Nov 23, 2012As a bit of good housekeeping while struggling with an .icc problem I upgraded from Gimp 2.6 to (as of yesterday) the latest 2.8.
Now when I export my work into a .jpg or .tif the sRGB embedding that used to be automatic no longer takes place.
I can tell by going onto my Windows hard-drive, finding the exported file (e.g. XYZ.jpg), right-clicking on;
"Properties" >>> "Details" >>> "Image" >>> "Colour Representation".
It should have "sRGB" on this line but is now blank - indicating that the embedding to the file did not occur in the Export from Gimp.
This must be simple to correct - it was previously working without my knowledge.
Update - Since posting I've experimented with different files and it seems that if sRGB is embedded by the manufaturer's software - in my case I shoot RAW files and open in Canon's DPP to view and convert to .tif to edit in Gimp - it will be retained by Gimp all through its Import and Export processes.
But ... for whatever mysterious reasons this normality has been interrupted earlier and I need to go back to some Gimp files and re-Export with sRGB now embedded.

Mar 25, 2013I have recently started designing brochures for my company. I completed 4. I am quite new as a designer.
all 4 printed well, had no problems.this last one, the printer gave the foll:
1. The is overprint issues on the pdf files.
2. Some pages the fonts are not embedded.
3. There is spot colours in the job.
it is 24 pages
I did not change my setting at all as from my previous brochures. So I am completely lost in how to solve it and not for it to happen again.We used the same printer for all the brochures.
Even the flyers I recently did, saying the same problems. Am using the same printer.

Oct 12, 2012I have a lot of existing eps-files of which the option "embed all fonts" is unchecked. Know I have to check the "embed all fonts" in the existing eps-files. I tried to modify the script below, but it seems that the embedallfonts is NOT working.
When I do it manually (without script), then it works fine. With script, it doesn't work.

cmyk use less than 1%
Primary color mode = RGB
Color Management polices:
RGB = assign default color profile
CYMK = convert to default color profile
grayscale = assign default color profile
import & paste:
RGB = assign default color profile
CYMK = convert to default color profile
grayscale = assign default color profile
Almost every time it wants to default to cymk , which i don't want as I use RGB

If I scale my logo image 80% - the layer effects remain as it was at 100%.
Can I do something to have the layer effects scale accordingly with the image?
I tried flattening the image - but it doesn't keep all of the effects.
