Nov 13, 2012I've created an adaptive container on my main stage. It calls 2 symbols "layout1200" and "layout800".
These symbols have pretty basic functionality, and that works inside the symbol.
So dropping the layout symbols directly on the stage, the functionality works fine.
But calling the layout symbols through the adaptive container, it no longer works.
I've even converted the adaptive container into a symbol, to call that symbols first.

Nov 21, 2013I just spent ages perfecting a series of windows forms dlls (not wpf or anyting, just normal user controls from VS2012). they look, compile and test fine. but when I add them to an autocad PaletteSet they stretch out 57 pixels and move buttons into textboxes and such....
is this normal? my docked control is not 407 wide....
it was 350 the entire design phase! and if it added 57 it would be one thing but it "stretches" half the controls and leaves the rest so they overlap!

May 29, 2013Yet another example of a faulty installation of 2013 living under the canopy of Mechanical Desktop. I have the Product Design Suite and run 2013 as a sub-set of Mechanical Desktop. It has always been a bit squirrely and certainly not like a stand-alone copy..
Today when I opened it up, a window popped up telling me that there was a new release available. So I clicked on it and up popped another window which was supposed to automatically download and install Rev. 2. Nope - it just sat there doing nothing.
Not to be thwarted, I went to the Autodesk web site and picked downloads and AutoCAD 2013 for 64 bit and downloaded the link. When I invoked that I got a message telling me that it could not find the application on my computer.
Who creates this less than robust software?how to get around the Catch 22??

May 17, 2012I usually have full icons for my files, but for some reason my Photoshop CS6 file icons keep getting turned into the white icons with a little "PS" logo inside. I am using Windows 7 Professional edition on a 64-Bit Desktop.
The icon shouls be a full icon similar to the following (I know this is an After Effects icon - but is just to show an example of what I meant by a full file icon).
Illustrator :: Changing Values Inside RGB And CMYK Boxes
Mar 10, 2014I am struggling to understand why Illustrator is changing the values inside the RGB and CMYK boxes. I am also not sure of the exact relationship between these vaues. Essentially, it appears that if you set the Document Color Mode to RGB, it leaves the RGB values that you type in alone. If you set the Document Color Mode to CMYK, it leaves the CMYK values alone.
But as soon as you change the Color Mode, it automatically modifies the values. So if you were in RGB mode and you set some RGB values, it changes those RGB values when you switch to CMYK mode. And vice versa.
I had thought that the CMYK palette was a subset of the RGB palette. It would make sense to me if it did this when I switched from RGB to CMYK mode, but it doesn't make sense to me why it does this when I switch from CMYK to RGB mode.
The other thing I am confused about is the relationship of the values in the RGB boxes to the values in the CMYK boxes. I would have thought that the relationship between them would be static. Actually, it is not. When I am in CMYK mode and I enter a CMYK value of 90 16 0 0, the RGB values become 0 158 222. But when I switch over to RGB mode, the RGB values of 0 158 222 result in CMYK values of 75 23 0 0.
Illustrator :: Changing A Shape Inside Perspective Grid
Jan 20, 2013I've created a 2-point persective grid on top of a cube (see image below). I'm tyring to recreate the cube and have started by inserting some purple squares into the right side of the perspective grid. I've drawn an ellipse at the corner of the original cube that I'm trying to copy, to indicate where I need my squares to stretch to.
How I can stretch my purple squares in perspective so that they match the end of the orignal cube as indicated in the image below? I've tried skewing but this doesn't skew in perspective.

How do I detect if the linetype is in the Linetype file? How do I do my error checking here in the ACAD way? Currently I just search the acad.lin or sfr.lin Text File to see if the LineType Exists. This works.
But I was curious how would you check the linetype file via the Acad API,to see if the linetype definition name exists in the file?

i tried to lock the document but it doesnt work either. when i comment out "showpalette(true)" it works correctly. i realized that if my document window s state is not WindowState.Maximized then my code works just fine but if it is WindowState.Maximized it does not work.

Feb 15, 2009I want for my add-in to catch all unhadled exceptions and show them in a message box. This is required as Inventor crashes at all unhandled exception, and it is kind of hard and bad looking to put try{}catch(Exception ex){ } everywhere.
I tried (like in my usual WIndows Forms applications) to put:
System.Windows.Forms.Application.ThreadException += new ThreadExceptionEventHandler(OnThreadException);
AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException);
but this seems not to have any effect, the exceptions are not being caught.

Jan 31, 2013I was wondering if there was a graceful way to change a thick stroke or outline in PS CS6? Normally I would be lazy and just use the paint bucket tool, but since this is for a higher profile client than I am used to, and it is a for print project (I normally do web projects) the quality is just not good enough. The lines I want to change are the yellow outlines of the yellow hand in the following logo:
Currently, the best approach I can think of is going back into AI and changing the outlines and strokes there, however that is going to be a lot of work because of the way in which different objects overlay each other means a lot of slicing, cutting, and moving things around. Is there an easier way to do this in PS?
