AutoCAD .NET :: Add Drawings To Active Project

Dec 4, 2013

I encounter a problem that I do not understand. I created a little C# routine for Autocad Electrical (2011 and 2012) which adds some drawings to the current project with the following command:

(c:ace_add_dwg_to_project  dwg2add  paramlst)

This method works perfectly. With the parameter list you can set the Section, Sub-Section and Descriptions of the page properties, exactly what I want. When I start the routine, I check which project is active. If the wrong project is active, I activate the appropiate project with the following command:

(c:wd_makeproj_current  wdpfnam)

So, when I want to add drawings to project A and project B is active at the start of the routine, I activate project A and the drawings are added. When I want to add drawings to project A and this project is already active, the drawings are not added to the project. The method mentioned above to add drawings returns nill, which means a failure.

Why is this happening? Is this a bug of Autocad?I already tried to always activate the project I want to add drawings to, but that doesn't matter.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Active Project File Changes Randomly On Different Users Machines

Mar 19, 2013

We have had this issue now for a couple years and don't know what is causing it. We are using vault pro with admin set single project file. A user can work for months using correct.ipj, then randomly at 10:42 they will notice the active project was been changed to some other temporary project location "c: emp.....". Then it will happen to different users at different times. I cant seem to find any correlation to anything. I can only imagine that it is somehow triggered from the vault addin.

We are inventor 1012 and vault 2012 pro.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Code Failure Setting Active Project Across A Network

May 9, 2011

I am trying to write code to set the active project across a network.  In the code below I have hard written the address in to our main server named "Rusk" .  It fails with an error message "The parameter is incorrect".  I have tried this using a mapped drive as well with no luck.

I think it may be a permissions error, I am running Vista 64bit.  Inventor version 12.  If it is a permissions error, are there any sample code snippets out there I can use to set the permissions?

Public Sub SetActiveProject()
Dim ProjectID As String 'variable to hold Project ID
Dim ProjectAddress As String 'variable to hold an address path
'Verify the project ID is entered

AutoCAD Architecture :: Active Project - Open File And Save Are Slow?

Aug 7, 2013

I am having an issue when opening and saving files is very slow when I have a project active in the Project Navigator.

If I have an active project, and I open a file via Project Navigator or Windows Explorer, the process hangs for 15-20+ seconds at the 'Opening C:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ac$' point, where it is creating the temporary file.

If I 'Close the current project' in the project browser and open the same file via Windows Explorer, the process takes less than a second.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Associating A Project To Current / Multiple Drawings

Oct 22, 2012

When using the Associate Project to Current Drawing or Associate Project to Multiple Drawings command(s) where does this association data get stored?  When using the Multiple Drawings option I do not see the save time/date being modified on the individual DWG's.

I also do not note any file being modified under the shortcut working folder which would contain associated drawing names.  How does C3D "know" what project a file is associated with?

I copied the files over and used the Reference Manager to repath the files. However, all of my schedules and room tags now use the 'NA' prefix because it is not reading the project information. How can i reconnect this folder to the project folder?

Edge Animate CC :: Working With Polygon Shapes And Defining Active / Non-active Mouseover Areas?

Mar 7, 2014

Since Edge only has rectangles and ellipses built in as available shapes, how to I/we work with polygon shapes and active mouseover areas INSIDE of these shapes and non-active mouseover areas OUTSIDE of the shapes?

Problem/symptom: when I import a polygon, be it any file format from from Photoshop or SVG from Illustrator, a rectangular border/background (transparent) gets applied, leading to this rectangle defining the mouseover area of the shape - and not the shape itself (be it a star or whatever).

WHAT I WANT: the very shape defines the mouseover area. How do I achieve this?? See examle below:

WHAT I DON'T WANT: how is is now:

AutoCAD LT :: Can't Copy / Paste Between Drawings/ Incomprehensible Heavy Drawings

Dec 28, 2012

I'm using ACAD LT 2008.

When i try to copy paste some drawing entities from a heavy drawing file to any other file, the program blocks and says 'not responding', endlessly. So i always have to shutdown the program. I experience the same problem using the designcenter: when I try to copy a layout into another drawing, my computer gets stuck.

Another annoying problem with these files is that they are so heavy, while in fact they shouldn't be. I tried the aectoacad file command. In result the file id half as big, but after I open it and save it, again is the original size.

AutoCAD LT :: Publish Drawings To Overwrite Existing PDF Drawings

Apr 2, 2013

Every now and then I go back and try to use publish to speed up printing but I always go back to plotting one by one.

I work in a housing construction office and I have 10 separate drawings side by side in model space for house plans that I need plot separate to give to certain people. My problem isn't that I can't publish them separately its that I can't save them over existing pdf's individually predetermined.

Q1. do i just have to go through and change every layout name before or after i publish?

Q2. how do i change the output publish location?

Q3. can each layout be saved to a different existing pdf and remember it?

Q3. can i save these setting across to a new drawing?

VideoStudio :: Create Smart Package From Project File That Has Smaller Component Project Files?

I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.

Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.

Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?

AutoCad :: Keep Objects Active After Command?

Apr 13, 2013

I think it's quite a lot of useless work to always select objects before or during a command, if you manipulate the same set of objects over a longer period of time. Say, as an architect I have a floor plan with a table and chairs. Now I want to copy, translate, rotate and scale the table with the chairs until they fit my floor plan. So I have to select the furniture, copy it, select it again, move it, select it again, rotate it, select it again and then scale it. Of course, there is the "previous" option, but is there a way of keeping a selection set active after the command so you just can go on to the next command without re-selecting the whole thing? My favoured workflow would be: Select the objects, copy them, move them, rotate them, then scale them. The objects should be active all the time and deactivated with ESC after the manipulation.

AutoCAD .NET :: Saving A Drawing That Is Open But Not Active?

Nov 15, 2012

using dwgDB.saveas on a drawing database that the user has open but NOT current on his screen?

For example, the user has DWG1 open and DWG2 open and currently active, my program modifies DWG1 (inactive) and when the program tries to run...

dwg1DB.SaveAs(filename, true, DwgVersion.Current, dwg1DB.SecurityParameters)

it errors with an elock violation, even though I lock the document with dwg1DOC.LockDocument before I try to save and unlock it after.

The same code runs fine on the current document so at this time I just ended making the other document current just to save it then switch back to previously current document.

What am I missing to save a document that is open but not current?
