AutoCAD LT :: Configure Two Viewports At Two Different Scales?
Nov 15, 2011
I used the layout wizard to configure 2 vertical viewports as instructed in the manual. Next I try to paste an object in one viewport at a scale of 1:20, engineering imperial. The object appears in both viewports in model space. I only want the object in one viewport and I cannot erase the object in the other viewport, since they both dissappear. I also cannot draw a line in one viewport without it appearing in the second viewport. If I switch one viewport to current paper space the line can be drawn but I want each viewport to be at a different scale. Is there some way around this? Is my AutoCAD LT program capable of doing this?

Using '09LT and was wondering if it's possible to have different line type scales in different viewports on the same layout tab?

My linetypes show up way too big in my viewports at 1/8" scale as compared to my Model space. pslt and mslt both at 1, units are inches, global linetype scale at 80. What am I missing?

I've created a viewport, selected it and since gone to zoom the relevant image until it is the desired size within the viewport.
I've done this a million times before without a problem, but am having terrible difficulty at the moment.
Once I've zoomed the image to size and subsequently exited the viewport frame (to view the sheet) my image disappears - I believe it just becomes a microdot.
Incidentally, when I initially go to zoom the image to fit the viewport window, I have to use the zoom, extents, 'select all' (CTRL A) and then significantly enlarge the component of the drawing I wish to have fill the viewport window.
Why is it that the zoomed image fills the viewport window when editing the viewport contents and then disappears (turns back into a microdot) when I've finished editing the respective viewport?

create a code to add scales to the scale’s list?
I just want to have the necessary scales, so don’t want to add to the template.
The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)
Example:
>Command line: setscale
>type the value of the scale to create: 50
set 1:50 to default

I have a lot of sheet DWGs with a single layout in each. The layouts have several viewports into model space.
Is there a way to export out the layout tab where the viewport contents have been converted and placed into the layout space?
Ideally, I'm hoping to basically convert the viewport heavy paperspace into a dumb model space layout.

The code I'm using is supposed to go through all of the layouts and freeze the specified layer in the single viewport that is defined on that layout. It works for some viewports, but not for others. A "List" of the objects show the viewports are the same. I have a LiSP routine that gets me more info about selected objects. The first is a viewport that does not freeze the specified layer, the second does freeze the layer. Here is the code I'm using:
Public Sub FreezeNewLayerInVPs(ByVal pageNumber) Dim doc As Document = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocumentDim db As Database = doc.Database Dim layerToFreeze As String = "DETAIL_" & pageNumber Using tr As Transaction = db.TransactionManager. Start Transaction( )Dim layTable As LayerTable = DirectCast(tr.GetObject(db.LayerTableId, OpenMode.ForRead),
[code]...

Assume a beam like the one in the picture below.
How must I configure the constraints?
The left constraints should be a "Fix constraint" on the edge(not the face) I assume.
But the right constraints must not fix all DOF's.
How can I configure the right constraint?

I'm going through some customer equipment models and setting them up in my library for referencing. For example, I'll setup a machine that belongs to a customer, then reference it through a library when I design new tooling and/or components to work with existing equipment.
One such machine is a simple positioner. It's got a linear slide for "X" movement that's got an arm on a mounting plate. The slide has some amount of travel, say 500mm or so. And the mounting plate has 5 sets of mounting holes. So the arm can have four bolts removed and be mounted in any (1) of (5) different locations. This is in addition to the slide's travel.
When I design future assemblies and components for this, I'd like to be able to insert the assembly from a library into my "new" assembly in a flexible configuration where I can set it up using any combination of mounting holes AND slide travel.
So I can setup (5) different positional reps for the mounting hole configs. That's easy. With respect to the slide, I can create a constraint that allows the arm to extend and retract, but how can I get the library assembly to "rest" in multiple locations? For example, I may work on Design A that needs the extension at 241mm and Design B at 316mm.
Would I need to setup a different Pos Rep in the library assembly for the requirements of every new design? Unfortunately, the design is proprietary to the customer, so I really can't post anything about it.

I'm trying to create a label which gives me a distance from the begining of my reference, but coordinates are not good for this because my reference is not linear. It is a alignement with tangents and curves. What I'm trying to figure out is how to create a label with the distance of the projection of the begining point of my feature line in the alignment to the begining of the alignment.
For example: There is a alignment (road) and a feature line (curb). The alignment is the axis of the road and the feature line is an edge of the road (not need to be exactly an offset). How to configure a label to show the two kilometer markers (0.0001 precision) of the road that are the beginning and ending markers of the part of the road that has curb?

Since I updated to Inventor 2013, every time I try to print an idw as a pdf, it prompts Windows to configure Navisworks Simulate. Message says the feature is on a CD-ROM or removable disk that is not available. The odd thing is Navisworks Simulate is already on my computer as part of the Inventor 2013 installation. Should I reinsert the CD that has Navisworks on it? If I just keep hitting cancel it eventually gets to the pdf creator and everything works fine then.I am thinking of uninstalling the Navisworks.

I was unable to configure a transfer from Factory Design Suite Group. This is more appropriate here.
Approx August, Inventor 2013 started to randomly crash.
Until then it was working fine.
Service packs & several re-installs have not cured it.
I cannot replicate the process.
I am lucky if I get 20 minutes of operation.
One day it actually ran all day. The next it crashed maybe 20 times.
Several projects have only needed 2D work which works fine but I have run out of time to postpone the Inventor projects.

I have a classroom situation using 25 seats of 3ds max 2012. I just added the materials libraries and maps from older versions of 3ds max 2011, since 2012 came with very few libraries. Is there any way to configure 3ds max so all student users can see these new paths correctly without having them to each go to customize, configure user paths? Can I make a change to each machine that it will already be done for any user that is on the machines. Windows 7 Pro OS.

I've been having trouble w/ unresolved file names so I dinked around with the "Configure User Paths" dialogue. I made changes to all the entries so that backburner could see for net rendering. Boy i shouldnt have done that. Now My Mxp files are being saved in the specified project folders but all the subfolders are missing. I have gone back to the fore mentioned dialogue and changed all the paths back to relative. This still hasnt fixed the issue. Is there any way to set this dialogue back to "Factory Defualt"

I need to create a map from an 90-degree overhead view (looking straight down at the land). I have an image of a tree (viewed from above) and I would like to add hundreds of copies of the tree to the map in an organic fashion.
Is there anyway to configure the pattern stamp tool like I can configure the brush so that the tree image gets sprayed on to the map randomly with multiple copies at once? Is there anyway to define a brush preset that contains the colors of the tree image I would like to use?

how or where to configure the 'Software' viewport graphic mode? Actually I'd like to change the texture map size, at least. In Max preferences, the only think I can change is "Download map size", what is it about, but obviously it's not the map size in viewport.
The reason why I need this is very bad texture quality in the viewports..

Clearly I've changed my shortcuts. I have no idea how. What I need to do is figure out how to fix it, so I can have ctrl-z be Undo again.

If I use the remove key, I get the (annoying) pop up, what I want to do: Delete from hard diskRemove (default selected)Cancel Is there any chance to avoid this dialog? Or at least to chance the preselected button, so I've just to use the enter key?
Actually I've to press deletepress left arrow keypress enter.

how to configure my software to integrate color management so that what I see on my monitor is comparable to what I print or post on the web. I've read all I can find on-line and looked through a number of books and magazines, but as my reading increases, so does my confusion - too many menus, options, links and connections. I'll describe what I have in terms of hardware and software in as much detail as possible.
I run an HP desktop with an ASUS IPD monitor. I have ColorMunki and have reguarly conducted their diagnostic, which gives me an updated monitor profile every two weeks - when a new profile is created, it becomes my default under Windows 7 Control Panel Color Management. I print with an Epson Stylus Photo R1900 with Epson paper and ink. I use the printer and paper profiles supplied by Epson for the R1900 and specific papers.
On the other end, I have Nikon photo equipment. I set the color space on my cameras to ProPhoto and I shoot exclusively in Nikon raw format - .NEF. I shoot a D90 and a D7000 with 12M and 16M files respectively. I download directly from the SD card using Windows Explorer and then import into Lightroom 3.
I have Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5 Extended. I use Lightroom to import raw files into the catalog and to do basic editing. From there, I publish to Smugmug as .TIFF files - directly from Lightroom. I also export files from Lightroom to Photoshop CS5 Extended and save them as .PSD and .JPEG files. The files that I export to Smugmug look pretty good - similar to what I see on my screen. My real conundrum is with the Epson printer and Lightroom/Photoshop. What I see on my monitor is very different from what prints. From both platforms. As a rule, the shots are too dark and the colors are often very muted. This is especially true with images of people and skin tones. They often come out looking pale gray or blue.
My problem, (well, one of them) is the multitude of menus that have color management inputs - how do I make sure they are all working together and reinforcing each other instead of working at cross purposes? In Lightroom, I have Page Setup and Print Preferences, as well as Color Management options in the Print Module right hand panel. In Photoshop, I have Print and Page setups, as well as Color Management menus. There are also the Proof menus to consider.
In Photoshop, softproofing, I think I ned to select teh printer profile so that Photoshop is showing me how the printer will interpret the color space. I also think I need to be consistent in how I define the workspace - from Nikon to Lightroom to Photoshop to Epson. If I use ProPhoto with my camera do I need to use that in every circumstance? Should I switch to Adobe RGB? I have printer setting color space turned off in both LR and PS.

I've a CPU with four cores and also enabled hyperthreading.
But if I do an import by Lightroom it uses at best 25 % of my overall CPU performance.
If it would start many low prio threads, it would speed up my import a lot, as I've import very often 2,000 up to 8,000 pictures.
In my case it could speed up the process by factor 4. And that would be great, as also an Intel i7 with 3.4 GHz has a lot of work to do, so the import of 2,000 images takes in my case perhaps 15 or 20 minutes. I did not watch the time.
Is there any chance, to tell Lightroom to use more threads and spread them over all the (virtual) CPUs?

I am a very infrequent user of CAD and still do things like I used to do back in the '90s.
I draw in Model space at full scale--except, and this is why I am posting this question, when I have a small detail I want to be visible.
Can I draw a detail in Model space that is a different scale than the main drawing, or do I have to make it 'larger' by using Paper space and a viewport. Like maybe a block or some procedure I am unaware of.

I have a question about printing an autocad drawing. Currently I have two drawings on the model tab. I have drawn them both 1:1.
Now I need to print them both out on a same A3 paper, with different scales. The other one will be printed in 1:100 and the other in 1:50.
I have drawn a pretty good amount on autocad but this is my first time printing/plotting so I am asking for pretty specific instructions.
