AutoCAD Inventor :: Printing IDW To PDF Prompts Windows To Configure Navisworks Simulate?
May 17, 2013
Since I updated to Inventor 2013, every time I try to print an idw as a pdf, it prompts Windows to configure Navisworks Simulate. Message says the feature is on a CD-ROM or removable disk that is not available. The odd thing is Navisworks Simulate is already on my computer as part of the Inventor 2013 installation. Should I reinsert the CD that has Navisworks on it? If I just keep hitting cancel it eventually gets to the pdf creator and everything works fine then.I am thinking of uninstalling the Navisworks.

Is it possible to build a deployment package that prompts for the serial and product key when it's being installed? We have about 90 or so Engineers, our company refuses to pay for a network license and wants the pacakge deployed out through SCCM. But because of the way our company is set up we've got about 70 keys (some are multi activation. I could just build a package for the Standard and Premium suits and just prompt for the serial during installation.
I'm going through some customer equipment models and setting them up in my library for referencing. For example, I'll setup a machine that belongs to a customer, then reference it through a library when I design new tooling and/or components to work with existing equipment.
One such machine is a simple positioner. It's got a linear slide for "X" movement that's got an arm on a mounting plate. The slide has some amount of travel, say 500mm or so. And the mounting plate has 5 sets of mounting holes. So the arm can have four bolts removed and be mounted in any (1) of (5) different locations. This is in addition to the slide's travel.
When I design future assemblies and components for this, I'd like to be able to insert the assembly from a library into my "new" assembly in a flexible configuration where I can set it up using any combination of mounting holes AND slide travel.
So I can setup (5) different positional reps for the mounting hole configs. That's easy. With respect to the slide, I can create a constraint that allows the arm to extend and retract, but how can I get the library assembly to "rest" in multiple locations? For example, I may work on Design A that needs the extension at 241mm and Design B at 316mm.
Would I need to setup a different Pos Rep in the library assembly for the requirements of every new design? Unfortunately, the design is proprietary to the customer, so I really can't post anything about it.
How to apply forces to a component who is spinning. More specific i am interested in the centrifugal loads distributed over the component.
Take an inducer wheel for a turbocharger. It is a complicated component and very difficult to calculate by hand. it is spinning with high revs, and the rev limit it set by the centrifugal forces acting.
Is is possible to simulate a part with a crack in inventor 2013? A customer had a part made and noticed there was a crack. We were asked to run an analysis on the crack to determine how much of a factor this crack has on the part. Is it simply just a matter of sketching the shape of the crack and removal of material or ??? The part is cylindrical in shape and the crack goes approximately 1/8 around the diameter of the part.
I am wondering if the FEA in Inventor 2013 is capable of simulating a pipe under a point load and at what point the pipe fails. Its a simple 2in dia pipe supported by a vertical tube with a load of 'X' centered on the pipe.
I'm trying to simulate a sprag clutch using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 (student edition) but I'm having some trouble keeping two parts from rotating together.
The flange of the driving gear sits inside the clutch hub but the two should be free to rotate relative to each other. However, when I simulate the rotation of the gear, the clutch rotates with it as well. I can sort of simulate the desired behavior by adding a torque to the clutch but I don't think this should be necessary.
I can't attach the files because they're too large but I'm hosting them here: [URL]...... and here: [URL]........... The A4_Complete is the whole clutch, but for a simpler view A3 shows the issue I'm having.
Essentially Pink gear drives the Green gear, and the Orange clutch should slip on the grey flange of the green gear but it does not.
Is it possible to validate/simulate my PLC program with autodesk inventor, using for example OPC connection between Inventor and my PLC. I know its possible in Delmia, but in our firm we have Inventor.
How I can add materials to the Inventor material library. I have created and defined the material in Autodesk Simulate Mechanical and they are available in the material libraries in that program, but inaccessible in Inventor. It doubles my work load if i need to define the materials in both programs and also creates hassles if a change needs to be made to a single material.
The materials are currently saved in .mlb library files. Iventor requests a .asklib file for when trying to add a library.
I am trying to simulate the path of ropes through pulleys/sheaves etc. It's a bit of a chicken-and-egg set up.
My workflow is the following:
Assemble and constrain geometry
Create plane in assembly than rope will run on.
Create in-place part (rope) with box ticked for "constrain to sketch plane" or the like, referencing above geometry.
Question 1: I see my in-place component is not constrained to referenced geometry, I can drag it around?
I then ground it or constrain to workpoints used as part of the original "project geometry".
I then alter the original geometry and...nothing!
Question 2: How do I get my rope to adapt?
Attached is a mock up - original contains assemblies within assemblies etc. The base has been altered after creating the in-place parts, and the rope has not followed suite.
I'm working on 2013 AutoCAD along with V52.03 HydraCAD and have been trying to export a model to Navisworks. Currently I have Navisworks Freedom 2013 on my system. AutoCAD doesn't recognize "nwdout" as a command, it says unknown command. Does this have something to do with the Navisworks Freedom that I have on the machine instead of Navisworks Simulate?
i used the page setup and creat new setup to print some area ..
ist possible to make a setup to print multi area .. - when i creat new one it ask to select what i want to print , but it just ask once ,if i want to print other thing i need to creat new setup ...
What are the proper setting on windows xp control panel - printers & faxes - printing preferences, in order to be able to plot any size sheet in ACAD LT 2007? We are having to change the preferences in the windows control panel whenever we change from a d size sheet to an e size.
Looks like the format is not forwarded correctly to the printer when printing A3, it comes out as A4. If we change paper format in printer properties to A3 it works fine.
I'm trying to create multiple prompts using the ATTDEF command, but it only lets me create one at a time. Is there a way so it will prompt multiple different lines of text or do I have to create different attributes for each line?
As an Autocad user since Rel. 2.1. My favorite is when attempts to draw a line using feet and inch input while units are set to decimal. How "Point or option keyword required" is supposed to guide using the correct units setting? With DYN Input on, the red outline offers even less information. Are the prompts user editable?
I created a block with 4 tags. I also created a block properties table, which after the block is placed can be activated and acts like a pull down menu and will update and populate the tags.
When I insert the block I get a prompt for each tag, is there a way to suppress these prompts for a block? I tried the setting ATTREQ to 0 and that suppresses the prompts for all of the blocks I use in the drawing, and I only wish to suppress the prompts for this particular block. I am using AutoCAD 2013.
I work using AutoCAD 2010 i think an old drawing that i have taken over was created using cad2007, and due to the compatibility issues between them, every time I save the dwg (Ctrl+S) i get prompted/asked whether I realllly want to save the drawing in 2010 format (yes/no) It's always yes.
is there a way to permanently disable this prompt either:
