AutoCAD LT :: Add And Subtract Buttons Form Toolbars On 2008?
Oct 27, 2011How do I add and subtract buttons form the toolbars on AutoCAD 2008 LT?
View 6 RepliesHow do I add and subtract buttons form the toolbars on AutoCAD 2008 LT?
View 6 RepliesI can't see any of the inventor toolbars anymore.
if i would still have the Quick Acces Toolbar this wouldn't be a problem but that one is also gone.
I am having trouble editing existing imported toolbars. Also, I cannot retrieve my custom toolbars into 2012. When I convert older menus (mnu) into 2012 the tool bars all have question marks on them, and my custom toolbars are not listed. I cannot go into CUI customization and click on a button to edit it's command and or icon. The older version of cad is not on my new system so I cannot use the migration tool.

It tells me that I made a constraint to geometry which is no longer available. The geometry IS available. I always have to delete the constraints just to move on. I'm sure it has something to do with the planes or axis I created while doing my 3D sketch.
2. Why does Adaptively equal inefficiency? The more I use it the more I have to fix those darn cross-part association failures. It takes less time to not use adaptively and use the "old fashion way". adaptively rarely, if ever, works correctly with sheet metal parts. I say again - Junk.
3. Would it be so difficult to give us buttons for standard views on our tool bars? You know, like AutoCAD - which I'm sure you have heard of by now. An XY, YZ, XZ, button is all I ask for. You went to the trouble to give us RMB Isometric view but stopped there.
4. Is it too much to ask to provide buttons on the toolbars for Object Visibility? Why make me go through the View, Object Visibility menu three times in a row to turn off User Axis, User Work Planes, and User Work points. It will be six times in a row if you need to turn off the other stuff. Heck, at least make the darn menu tree stay open until I've selected multiple objects to turn on or off.
I processing fairly large groups of images, and would like to be able to add a button to access common functions (or better yet, sequence of functions)
I do this with keyboard shortcuts now, but I'm ending up losing access to other functions (PS dibs on has all the good keys, and can't map to the others)
I could also remove half of my current need by overriding the Pixel Correction default behaviour, though I'm given to understand there is no way to do this.
I am in the 3d modeling view, and have extruded closed polylines. when i go to subtract the object inside the other it won't subtract the command says <Modeling Operation Error: failure in face-face intersection merging algorithm>
I don't know how to fix it.
One of the features I was really looking forward to in CS6 was creating fillable forms with ONE application. I created a form following the step by step instructions in classroom in a book for CS6. When I opened the exported form in Reader X, I get a "This operation is not permitted" error. I opened the completed "end" document in the lesson to make sure I didn't commit an error, and I got the same message when exporting. I have looked for places in menus to modify security restrictions and I can't find any. I installed the updates and that didn't solve the issue.
I saw one solution posted which is to open the document in Acrobat, then do a "save as" option. Is there anything we can do that doesn't involve buying additional software? If this is not the case, then Adobe seriously needs to change its training and advertising about this functionality.
I am working on a form (global) and have added a picture with a parameter and a picture folder underneath. So that the picture displayed on my form will change depending on the parameter value. Here comes the trick. Only text parameters can be used!On the form editor only 'Text parameter' can be selected to drive the picture selection. I actually need an integer, so that i can use my User/Excel parameters from Inventor.
I can work this around with an iLogic rule to equal the value of my string Picture Parameter with the relevant integer Inventor parameter, but the rules need to be run before the pic and the form updates (by pressing the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the form and then the assy updates too. So this takes a couple of minutes)... whereas if it was an option on the form editor then the update would be instant without waiting for everything to update...
Is there a particular reason why the Picture Parameter only can be a text parameter?
In this lesson we will consolidate code to prevent code reuse. Follow along as we demonstrate by doing the following and more:
Apply a color to a form command button, loop form controls, and save and get the color from registry

I'm trying to subtract the figure that is attached to union the 3d solids on the "Layer2" layer and subtract them from the 3d solid on layer "Mesh". For some reason I can't do neither.

Here is my file, if you'd like to take a look (the outer portion is my region and I want to subtract everything that's inside it)
I am in need of subtracting Surface A from Surface B to display the surface intersections between the two. I have a geological top of clay surface and a bottom of clay surface where the bottom intersects with the top thus showing holes in a geological clay layer. I am wanting to know if Civil 3D supports the subtracting of two surfaces.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two boxes stacked on top of each other. On the top I have a rectangle which I want to extrude down through the first box and partially through the second box and then subtract the extruded rectangle from the two stacked boxes. Extrude works fine, but when I use subtract it only removes the area from the first box. The bottom box remains solid despite having "extruded" the rectangle down through the bottom box as well.
I've tried joining the two boxes into a single object before using extrude and subtract, but for some reason the join command won't work in this case.
I've got four objects. One of these objects is a cylinder. I want to remove some material from the cylinder. The material which I want to remove is specified by the other three objects.
Basically:
my target model = cylinder - (sum of other objects)
Where I am joining 2 solids (like plywood sitting in a dado joint), how can I have one solid be carved out where the 2nd solid overlaps it, without deleting the 2nd solid.
what SUBTRACT does but without the deleting.
Recently have had AutoCAD re installed and and am having trouble unioning and subtracting the two solids in the attached file. Other objects will occasionally subtract and union with these objects, but only occasionally.

I would like to schow idea of this formwork. For this I would like to make part representing silicone part of this formwork. It is contained in aluminium "cover" for convenience of use.
In assembly I have placed may model, and aluminium elements representing "cover" of formwork.
I am trying now to model silicon but it is quite hard. I can not use "derivered part" method to substract model and cover elements from some big block body because coordinate systems do not mach in all elements.
In Part there is "combine" function but it only works with bodies mabe within this part.
Is it possible to substract one placed in assembly from anothe part in this assemby?
I would like to be able to extrude an object then do a subtract or something similer, then somehow put the subtract on a layer so if i hide said layer the extrueded object will be showen as if it never had the subtract applyed. But if the layer is show agean then the extrued will have a hole in it agean.
P.s. for an example of one thing this could be used for, modeling wrenches with difrent shaped grips but the same handle. Without just making multiple copys of the handle.

One easy way for I calculate the weight of plates with many holes is creating regions and subtract the cuts as i need and after apply "LIST" command for get value of area . But, i cannot subtract the regions, in command line says :
"Command: region
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 44 found
Select objects:
44 loops extracted.
44 Regions created.
Command: subtract Select solids, surfaces, and regions to subtract from ..
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects: Select solids, surfaces, and regions to subtract ..
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 4 found
Select objects:
At least two solids, surfaces, or coplanar regions must be selected."
I have created the attached wheel drawing using the Revolve command.
You will see one cylinder solid thru the wheel on the attached drawing file.
I am trying to use the Subtract command to remove a hole space thru the wheel. Can't get that to work.
I am working on the attached file. I need to either subtract or surface trim the corners of the cylinder but when I try to do either some other surfaces that i did not select get trimmed. 6.dwg
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on a project where I am attempting to design a pendant. I wanted to do this in solidworks but I am not as experience with that and I'm having issues, so I went to what I know, AutoCAD. Unfortunately I am still having problems and I think it has to do with the import file from Adobe illustrator.
What I have is a circle with different parts and block text that I would like to cut out. I saved the illustrator file to a dwg file and it imported with a hatch over all the solid areas. I deleted that to get the respective outlines, and extruded. Most loops extruded but some failed to do so for some reason. But I have an option to convert to a pline, but then I get a specify precision dialog which adds a bunch of points along what seems to be a straight line.
Anyway, when I do manage to get things extruded, and go to perform the subtract command (or intersect which would be faster) I click the main shape, and then click the items I would like to remove, but it doesnt do anything.
I did get one whole to subtract, but I really dont know the difference between that and the others that made it work.
If you have a housing with say, 12 cylinders in the flange which are to be cut out of the housing to become the 12 bolt-holes. If you positioned your cylinders using polar array, are you supposed to be able to use the command solid/substract? I can't as it won't pick the array parts to cut. I had to resort to rotating/copy all the cylinders around the flange and then it works great. Any way to do holes through a solid...
