AutoCAD LT :: Setting Up Viewport Extents Of Drawing?
Oct 28, 2013
I am working on a drawing I have been sent by a consultant and having difficulties setting up the vport extents I need when using two vports. If I marquee zoom to what I want in one viewport it reverts to full extents as soon as I click on the other vport. I never had this before. Is there an obvious solution?

When clicking into an unlocked viewport, to switch from paper to model space, the viewport automatically zooms to extents.

In paperspace, each time I double click inside the viewport it automatically zooms to the extents of my drawing, changing the scale. Also, when I switch back to model space i am zoomed to extents in model space. How can I fix this?

I'm using AutoCAD 2011 and here is the situtation. I create a viewport. I zoom in to the scale I want to use. Once setup i click out into paperspace all is good. However if i do not lock the viewport, the moment i click back on it, the viewport automaticly zooms extents and screws up what i was trying to show . Is there a setting somewhere that should be set from 1 to 0 or a box not checked off that i'm missing?

I have a problem with some drawings. When double clicking in a viewport that is unlocked (for the purpose of panning) the viewport zooms to extents.

I am able to get the drawing extents in the database but just fine except that when I draw objects in paper space and the extents decrease the properties Pextmax and Pextmin do not change accordingly. When I make objects larger everything is fine, I capture the change just fine. Where else to look or if there is a method to update this properly?
Public Sub CheckMedia(ByVal Printers As Collection)
Try
Dim oEditor As Autodesk.AutoCAD.EditorInput.Editor = Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Editor
Dim oDatabase As Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices.Database = Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument.Database
[code].......

Currently I am using 2010 Map 3d, for water main base plans.
I use Micro Survey to process my field work. From there I open in Cad, import layers from our GIS data base for property, buildings, addresses, etc.
The only thing I have done different is from another project was copy and paste some utility layers.
Now my drawing turns any plines with width into hollow lines, and if align something my drawing will zoom to extents, also text mask does not work and i tried turning text to Mtext and it will not let me select yes for background mask.
All other drawings I check everything works fine.

I have code that has the user select a viewport. I then need to set the selected viewport to an existing view, but I cannot find any exampes of this.
I have the viewport, but how do I get the ViewPortTable/ViewPortTableRecord from it?
Do I need to set the view in the ViewPortTableRecord od the ViewTableRecord?
No problems to this point...
'Code snipIf acPrmpt_res.Status = PromptStatus.OK Then
Dim acVPort As Viewport = Nothing
Dim acViewTbl As ViewTable
Dim acViewTblrec As ViewTableRecord

Is it possible to set a viewport's visual style without opening the drawing in the editor? I would like to set a visual style on all viewports for a batch of drawings.
As a followup, could the viewport then be part of a publish event and have the new visual style hold without opening and reneging the drawing?

I have a dialog box that has 2 list boxes. One box has the available layers in it, while the other will contain the selected layers. I want to use those selected layers as a list of layers that will be visible in a particular view port. I have searched all over to find information on what kind of list I would need and how could I use the list with a view port, but all I've found is info for one layer becoming visible.
I'm also looking into "FreezeLayersInViewport" but info sure seems limited.

I am using version B.219.3 (UNICODE) of Autocad Civil3d 2008 with service pack 2 loaded.
I am putting together some plan and profile sheets for a civil roadway job.
The annotation scale setting of the text in the profile xref and alignment xref is being ignored in the sheet file viewports. This text should be appearing at 1:40 scale, automatically, same as the viewport scale, but they are appearing very small instead. According to the way annotation scale is supposed to work in Autocad2008, this annotation should be appearing at the correct scale, automatically.
If I try to adjust the annotation scale to a ratio I think will work, it automatically adjusts the viewport scale to match whatever I enter for an annotation scale. What to try next.
Can files become corrupted in AutoCAD? If so, are there utilities to repair corrupt AutoCAD files?

I would like to modify the Quality setting shown in the "Shaded viewport options" section of the plot dialog box (see attachment). The default appears to be Normal, and the options are Draft, Preview, Normal, Presentation, Maximum, and Custom. I want to use Maximum for 11x17 PDF files but I have 1000's. I can't open each file and change the setting, and then Apply to Layout. I'd also like to know what "Custom" means, but I will settle for maximum for now.
Is this option available under PlotSettings somewhere?

Currently in AutoCAD 2008, evertime I browse my folders and dbl click a dwg - AutoCAD opens that drawing in a new window. If I click on three drawings, AutoCAD has three different AutoCAD programs running.
If I'm inside AutoCAD and choose File, Open, etc... then the new drawing opens in the same AutoCAD program. I'd like for that behavior to work if I have AutoCAD already open and I browse my server thru explorer and dbl click a dwg on the server.
Is there a setting that will allow that?

I just had to reinstall AutoCAD this week for being a very bad boy. Now, when I switch between open files, my screen goes blank. It takes a regen to get all my stuff to appear again.
It even goes blank in my viewport... I have to go into the viewport and regen separately from the main drawing.

I am trying to plot a drawing with a viewport (of a 3D planview) in paperspace. The viewport has the "3D Hidden" shade plot property applied. The plot preview shows all the entities color-by-layer. I am plotting with a plot style that assigns all colors to black. Typically the plot preview shows all linework black when plotting with this plot style applied. The resulting plot (from an Oce tds700) shows the linework in a "grayscale" quality, not the normal solid black linework typically associated with a 2D viewport plotted on the same plotter with same plot style.

I'm creating a new project drawing and have x-ref'd my base drawing onto the sheet to be plotted. I can see the base drawing thru the viewport while in layout, but once I try and preview my plot the drawing inside the viewport is not visible. that is, I can see the preview of my sheet border & title block, but nothing within the viewport shows on the preview screen.
