I set the two v blocks were fixed and bonded contact type among three of them. The program said it was divided to three separated parts but i wouldn't expected that.

My goal here is to take the curved surfaces of the Loft object & retrieve a flattened profile of the face.
1 profile per face is the final goal - not one completely flattened profile.

I created my main corridor which is a 4 lane arterial with ditching on both sides targeted to my prelim surface. On my main corridor i have several intersections and approaches which i created intersections for and set the targets so they are correct, i also created secondary roads for all intersections. Now that it is visually correct there is a few things i would like to do.
1) Combine all intersections to my main corridor and create surface for adjusted volumes.
2) Raise combined corridor and intersections to adjust cuts / fills so that all attached intersection and adjacent corridors adjust with the main corridor.
Do i have to go to my main corridor profile and move each curve and tangent separately, then check all other profiles and intersection to insure everything has been adjusted?
Is there a way to edit multiple holes of the same kind.,or do i have to change each one seperately.
eg. Plain Holes To Tapped Holes

I have what seems like a relatively simple part, but I cannot find any way to apply a face draft to the four quadrants between the upper outer and inner "'cylinders". I get the dreaded "did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs." no matter which type of draft I try. I have created parting line drafts everywhere else. how I can get these faces to draft?

I want to draw hyperbola curve whose equation is x^2/a^2 - y^2/b^2=1. May I use equation curve tool to make the above hyperbola.
I have also made a hyperbola curve of aforesaid equation through conventional method on mathematical ground in the past.
I am trying to export geometry found in a flat pattern sketch overlaid onto the flat pattern.
Since I am creating the output file manually I gather the flat pattern boundaries and bend center lines for output to a file.
When I add flat pattern sketch entities to the mix they do not overlay properly. What matrix would I have to push the sketch entities through to get them to the same coordinates as the flat pattern?
I got an image wrapping around a vase, wonder if it possible to "unwrap" it. Get it back to a "flat" image so to say, with the most i can actually get back, suspect there would be some unrecoverable things.

Why is a part in an assembly not enabled for contact set? on right click the Contact Set option is grayed out, but that part was in contact set for another part already. i made some changes in the part, maybe that's the reason, is it?

I'm working on a FEA of a climbing carabiner (oval-shaped; one side of the oval is a gate which opens and closes allowing a rope into the carabiner).
The gate of the 'biner has a hook which attaches to the "nose" of mainbody/biner. However, this hook does not engage until the biner slightly deforms.
I've attempted to use the separation/no sliding contact option, but the solver behaves as if there is no contact occuring. The nose simply passes right through the gate hook.
The initial gap of the system is about 0.040". That means the nose must deflect 0.040" before the contact surface comes into play.
I am using Invertor Dynamic Simulation and I need to know the 2D contact position data to be displayed in the output grapher (i.e. the x,y,z coordinates). Only the forces are computed in the output grapher. I’ve tried using the “trace” feature but this will not allow me trace the 2D contact point. It would even benefit me to know the angle of the normal force relative to the absolute frame.

-Object constrained to vertical motion (a counterweight).
-Object constrained to horizontal motion along a track (a slider).
A cable runs from the counterweight upward, makes a 180-degree turn around a pulley, runs back down, makes a 90-degree turn around another pulley, and connects to the slider.
When the weight moves down 10 cm, the slider needs to move laterally 10 cm.I don't care about modelling the cable, but I do need to have the slider move as the weight moves.
I will also need to model a case with a more complicated pulley, where when the weight moves down 10cm the slider moves laterally 5cm (again I don't care about the cable, just the relative motion).
Is there a way I can do this without creating a series of planes and cylinders and using rotation - translation constraints to link the motion of the weight to the slider?
I'm trying to set up a sliding/no separation contact within and assembly for FEA purposes. I want to eliminate all moments (torque) between two pieces while still allowing one to impart force on another. When evaluating constraints, I'm seeing moments are infect being passed through. The guide mentions this contact for planer and cylindrical objects but makes no reference to spherical surfaces.
Is it possible to accomplish this type of a contact on spherical surfaces?
Can an adaptive part (non involved in the drive constraint animation) bother the contact solver?
I have an assembly, with only one adaptive part, i have activate contact set for other 3 parts (not the adaptive part), activated contact solver and drive the constraints, but in the animation contact solver doesn't work at all.
So, i have tried to move manually the assembly (suppressing angular drive constraint) and the contact solver works fine.If i suppress the adaptive part the driving constraint and contact solver work perfect.
So i wonder... adaptive part can annoying the contact solver functionality?
I would like to find a function that returns the two objects colliding using contact sets. I'm not sure this functionality is available in the API.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to run a simulation of 2 bevel gears without using the transitional/rotation constraint, but using the contact between the surfaces to simulate the rotation of the gears - basically I have an L-shaped shaft running through both centers and want to have the upper gear grounded, make the lateral gear rotate around its own axis - the goal is simply to see the contact between the gears make the side gear rotate around the vertical part of the l-shaped shaft, due to the contact forces.

I have a seat from our supplier translated from solid works brought in as a composite (converted in inventor 2011). I have assigned colors to faces and in the part/assembly environment it is fine, as soon as it is in a DWG it goes randomly transparent! Some times it is completely see through and others you get an odd face displaying correctly! Even in different views on the same sheet different faces appear normal.

After you create a drawing view, surfaces can be included or excluded from drawing views. Files that contain only surfaces automatically include the surfaces in a drawing view. Is there a way to disable this functionality?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to revolve a sketch between two surfaces in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012. The problem is that the extrusion is being created on the opposite side of the two surfaces that I want.
For example, I have two flanges on a cylinder. I would like the feature to be created to stretch on the lower side, the larger angle, where the sketch is. Instead, it is creating the feature on the upper side, the smaller angle.
I have adjusted everything I can within the revolve feature options, including unchecking "minimum solution" and switching the starting and terminating faces.
In the attached file I am attempting to revolve "Sketch 7" about the x-axis, between the two flanges closest to the "top." The sketch is centered on where I want the revolved feature to be created.
I am using 2013 and my construction surfaces keep displaying in my drawing views. They are hidden at part and assembly level and include surfaces is greyed out but they show as visible in the feature tree in the idw, and in the views.
Is there a setting somewhere to stop this. This is from IDW. They should not be visible.
I have successfully opened a STEP file from our Engineering group and saved it away as an Inventor Assembly. I would like to define Materials and/or Surface finishes for all parts. Why wouldn't the Surfaces and Materials synchronize between the Styudio's Surface Creator and the BOM Materials Control in the Assembly area?
I have found the way to define a new Surface in the "Inventor Studio" Interface and saved it with a unique name. Now, I would like to assign that Surface as a Material to the parts in the assembly ... and of course I would like to define numerous other surfaces and materials for assignment to all the parts throughout the assembly. Finally, I would like these surfaces / materials to follow the model into Showcase for presentation purposes.
I have placed the views but whenever I want to include all surfaces from the history tree they appear for 1 second and then they disappear.

The floor of the plant is split into different faces to denote walkways etc.
When i saw they were missing from the drawing i thought it could be because i haven't 'included surfaces'.
I clicked on include surfaces on the model and it worked!
However, when the green arrow update finishes, they disappear, and the include all surfaces box is unticked! i didn't untick it, so what did?
