View 4 RepliesIs there a way to hide project geometry from model sketch? I am modeling a sheetmetal part where I need to sketch centermaks, part number etc. for laser cutting. I want to use xy planes for symmetry reasons when sketching, but I don't want them to appear in dxf. This is a problem if I create a dxf directly from the model.
Usually I create dxf files from drawing by adding new sheet where I create flat pattern view from the spesific part (excluding machinigs etc, only thermal cut boundaries visible). In the drawing I am allso able to show model sketches and hide unwanted project geometry. Is it possible to include these sketches to dxf?
I made a cylinder which is in the attachment. When I flat pattern produce its dxf file, I am not able to get correct geometries. When I zoom into the dxf file, I see that the inner hexagon and circles project irregular shapes and are not concentric.

There is no command prompt like I've seen in so many examples etc.
I am trying to update the marking menu for those situations where I am 2D sketching. The change I want to make is to add create feature and create constraint. I don't see how I can add these.there is a way to add more marking menu buttons? 8 buttons are not always enough for my purposes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEverytime I click on the sketch button/icon inventor changes my view and rotates / re-angles my view. When I'm make those narrow sketches inventor messes up my view.
How to stop this.. I'm guessing settings of course but which ones exactly if you've done this and what are the down sides to turning this off?
When I on 3d sketchin, the images on 2d sketch are moving by cursor.
how could I make images on 2d sketch unmoving ?
I've a problem with Sketching and extrude in the assembly mode.
When I'm making a sketch and I want to extrude it, I can only cut the sketch.. And if I chance the directin of the cut, there apears a error..
I am having problems with void that i cant hide in my project. The void is inside my generic family but wont apply a cut unless i apply a length parameter to it. The problem i that in my project it seems to be visible as a yellow box that will also appear when printed.
Is it possible to hide this in the project by any way?
Is it possible to assign a project number to a project file and have it fill in the project Iproerties field?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do not have vault installed and I am trying to add sub files to my project. As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an autocad file with a simple rectangle in it.
The goal is to offset this rectangle 1" to the inside of the original rectangle, then delete the original rectange.
How could I go about this in autolisp??
I know I could use basic commands to bring up the offset functions, but i'm not too sure how i could write autolisp to offset in the correct direction, and the correctly delete the larger rectangle without deleting the smaller one as well.
Maybe put them on different layers? How I could achieve this?
I have multiple cylinders of increasing radius surrounding each over i.e first cylinder radius 0-5mm, 2nd 5-10m etc. (attached: cylinders.jpg). For the operand I'm using a solid cude - hollowed out in a particular shape i.e. using it like you would a physical mold.
Using ProBoolean Subtract I can successfully subtract the operand from one cylinder at a time, but not all the cylinders at once. I have up to 20 cylinders so it takes sometime to do individually (attached: subtract result).
If i 'Proboolean Merge' the cyclinders they become the one geometry and each cylinder looses its individual material.
How can I merge the cylinders such that I can perform the subtraction on them all in one go but they retain thier materials?
I have more than 50 geometries in my Gmask module, now I want to change all color to 0. Select all geometry and change the value doesn't work. I know I can always invert it in the next node, but I just wonder if there's any button that I missed.

Any solution for this hide tube. We are using:

I have using Inventor api to open an assembly file. But while open the .iam file it will show all the suppressed elements.how can we hide this suppressed elements from showing?

Is it possible to hide the dimension lines like in the attached picture?
Autodesk Inventor 2012
Im running inventor 2013 and I want to hide a part in one view of an assembly, and for some reason when I go into the browser and try to deselect the visibily it is greyed out. I don't know why it happened.

I have a panel with holes, cutouts and silkscreen
In the drawing the panel is detailed to show hole locations and sizes on one sheet and in another view @ 1:1 the silkscreen is shown.
The silkscreen is a feature on the panel, text either embossed or extruded .005" outward. The feature is colored (filled).
On my drawing all the silk screens show up like un-filled fonts. This really bothers some people and my task is to fill the fonts.
Also i need to get the silkscreen by itself and (suppress/invisible) remove the other features from the view.
Suppress will not work as the feature i am trying to show will also be suppressed. Visibility of features is not an option.
Q. HOW CAN I GET THE FEATURE SEGREGATED AND SOLID IN MY DRAWING? but still a feature of the part. i.e. i don't want to create an assembly with a panel and a silkscreen.
How do i suppress features in a view on the drawing?
Is there some way in an Inventor idw drawing to 'hide' a page. I have created an extra page with information for future changes but do not want it to printed or be counted in the total number of sheets.

I have created a cable/harness in my assembly. I have to edit the cable to change visability to centerline display in order to turn off visibility in a drawing view. The issue is that on one sheet of my drawing I need to show the cable, but not on the others. As soon as I turn the rendered display on, the cable shows up on all sheets and the visiblity command has no affect. Is there a hotfix for this? I don't remember a problem like this in 2011.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently created some iLogic based components. I wonder how difficult it is to protect the iLogic code, similar as VBA code which can be password protected.
The reason being:
1. Of course, to hide & protect the creator's modeling logic;
2. To avoid the relation between parameters being messed up by the end user unintensionally.
I did have the opportunity to raise the question during the Portathon event and the answer was that the protection not directly available, though the workaround could be mixing with some Inventor API coding in .NET.
However, this might defeat one of the benefits of iLogic, simple and ease to use, gentlr learning curve, especially for users with VBA experience. .NET might not be so easy for a lot of engineers from mechanical or other disciplines.
1 Disable the "Edit" button for iLogic components, including rules, forms, etc.;
2. Put all code that are to be protected in an external file, and then make that file unreadable (password protected, or other protection) to un-intended user, however, readable to those who have proper access privelege.
