AutoCAD Inventor :: Copy Sheets And Drawing Views
Aug 15, 2012Working in an idw file, I have a need for two drawing sheets with the identical views of the same part. However, each sheet will need different dimensions and annotations. What I would like to do is after completing one sheet, in one step create the second identical sheet, then just edit/add dimensions and annotations. Is there a method to do this? So far, I have only been able to copy one view at a time from sheet to sheet.

May 21, 2012When i am creating section sheets from multiple section views ,section sheet view port scale changes.I did set it correctly in my template.
For example it changs from 1:150 to 1:150_1
Then in section sheets scetions views are not displaying correctly.
When i change view port scale manually it shows correctly.But it should do to all sheets.
What should I do?
In model spacr multiple section views are showing correctly.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Cross Section Views (Sheets) / Set Margin Inside Viewport?
Mar 12, 2013When creating cross section views ("Home>Section Views>Create Multiple Views"), my sections are being placed at the exact boundary of the viewport (viewport is per my template).
Surely there's a way to create a margin inside the viewport.
Here's a screen shot of what I'm seeing. Notice how the dotted "Plot Area Boundary line is going right thru the left axis labels and on top of the bottom axis blue line (which means the bottom axis labels will NOT be seen).

Aug 29, 2013i have views lets say 3 views on a sheet but in the list of views theres mores that appears maybe i inserted the extra views that are showing but i deleted them to put them on another sheet
the problem is they show up in the list of both sheet and i can't delete them from the list of the sheet that they were before

Nov 23, 2012So I am trying to create section views that detail the correct assembly of two parts.
These parts are welded on top of each other so its important to have clear understanding of how they fit together.
So imagine a pipe bent in the shape of a circle, in the horizontal plane, then holes drilled into the top (vertically) and then another pipe fitting in the holes and being welded together. This is what is happening.
So I am trying to create a section view of one of the holes with the welding information.
When I go to create the section view, I draw a line that would pass through the center of the large horizontal circle (but doesnt) and the center of the hole I am trying to detail and through to the outside of the horizontal pipe.
Now with this line I should get a view of the assembly exactly perpendicular to the line from that point. This is what is called "Aligned" in Inventor and what I was taught as a "Section View". However, this is not the case at all. I get what is called a projected section view.
find a way to get an "Aligned" view of this without sectioning the entire assembly. I just want the small bit necessary to show the relevant information.

Dec 20, 2013I am a new user of AutoDesk inventor and have a few questions about saving different views of the drawing. I have a floor plan layout and need to save several different cross section views to see different angles and different parts of the interior. I am familiar with how to do this in programs such as google sketchup but not inventor. I also need to insert text with arrows pointing to different things in the drawing. Is this possible with inventor or does the drawing need to be put into other software such as paint.

now when i make a section view or a detail view of a part, the annotation is placed above the section view..
I would like to have that underneath the view.
I know can drag it down there, but is there a way to have the annotation underneath the view when its created? would save me and the rest who is going to use the template a lot of time..

Jan 13, 2012How you constrain a section view so that is perpendicular to an axis. See "SECTION B" on the attached drawing for an example of what I am attempting. I have created the view but cannot make (constrain) the view perpendicular to the slot that is orientated at 30 degrees from the vertical centre line. I have lined up the view by eye so it looks close but it's obviously it's not accurate.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Detail And Section Views Blowing Up In IDW
Jun 6, 2012Working with Inventor 2012: I have a rather large assembly (over 3000 parts) that was worked on by an outside engineering firm and includes several different Levels of Detail & Views under Representations. When they originally Pack 'n Go-ed the whole assembly and related .idw's over to us, all the .idw's seemed to show every view correctly without errors.
However, I've now went into the assembly and made several modifications to the overall master assembly and a few sub-assemblies within it (adding/deleting a few parts, nothing major). Now when I try to open a few of the master assembly .idw files, all the section & detail views have become full model views, losing their "cutaway" views. See the attached before & after pictures.
I've went back in to each .iam and made sure that the level's of detail & Views match the way the file was originally given to us but I can't seem to get the cutaway views back again.

Jan 18, 2012Is there a way in Inventor 2011 to automatically copy a parts list from an assembly on sheet 1 to the other sheets in a drawing? We generally have large assembly drawings with the same assembly spread out over several sheets and have to create a new parts list and update it separatly on each sheet. We also have this issue with revision information which we store in a symbol but parts lists are more prevelent of an issue.

Nov 8, 2012Here is the issue we have found. While sectioning a view of an assembly in idw, the threaded lines of threaded features have a strange behavior depending on the section line used. I have attached a simple example that shows what he have found. Basically, if the section line is straight, threaded features show correctely. Independent of section participation. If the section has segments at different angles, then lines are not appearing.
The first three views have both parts excluded from section participation(Obviously, there isn't any real life need for this, but I did it to just simplify the illustration without adding a bunch extra parts) The base view is the top view or view showing the round shape. For the first example at the bottom, i simply projected the view to the left and made sure "Threaded Features" was selected. Threaded lines show fine.
Second example is the similiar, except the i used a section view instead of the projected view. Both parts are excluded. Section line is straight. Verticle in this example. Doesn't have to vertical as the line is straight.
Next example is similiar to the second, only difference is the section is not straight. You can see the threaded lines do not show. This is the problem we want to solve. How to make the threaded lines display!!!
Last example shows the same section, only this time the component is included in the section participation. And it works.
Any settings to change or a trick to make it work. Otherwise, i think i need to issue a support request with autodesk.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Pipe Section In Full Height In Section Views?
Feb 20, 2013I have lots of section views with some surfaces and pipes. Unfortunately, in a number of section views pipes are not shown in full height because the section view level range is too little. What I am wondering is - is it possible to automatically adjust section level ranges so that they fully include pipe sections? Please see also the image in the attachment.

I have section views.
I created a corridor.
How do I add the corridor section to my existing cross-section in the section views?
I can view them in the corridor section editor. But I should also be able to add the corridor section to my section views, right?
To plot them, do I NEED to do this through Sheets Sets? I don't have experience with sheet sets yet.
I don't use Civil 3D often enough anymore. Still learning much about the new interface and pulling a design together.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Turning Off Part And Subassembly Section Participation In Nested Views
Dec 15, 2011I can't control the section participation of individual parts or subasy in a IDW view. I want to have some parts & subs sectioned in the view & others not sectioned. They seem to follow whatever the IAM is set for. Note that I do not want to control the section participation in each Model from Documentation/Model/Particiapation becasue it will screw up other drawings referencing the models. Besides, I tried it & it stil wouldn't work.
The complicated part is that the view can be a cropped or detail view of a section view that is the child of the parent view-(I had to do it this way to get the view I needed).
is it even possible to individually control the sectioning in parts of nested views?
The RMB controls are available to do so but nothing happens, even if I close & open the file again.
Sometimes the RMB menu/Section Participation shows little filled in squares next to Sectioned & None. If I click on either, it becomes a check mark.
Revit :: Make Transparency Of Glass-materials Visible In Views And Section-views
Jan 12, 2013We would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

AutoCAD Architecture :: Dragging Views Into Sheets?
May 21, 2013simple project, 2 story house, 4 generated elevations, file size 600k. ACA is very slow (+4min) to almost freezing up when trying to drag a view from the view drawing into a sheet. xml files match the drawing file. only way to get the views to drop into sheets is copy the traced over views into a clean non-generated elevation view drawing and create the model space views from there.

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic - Count Sheets Counts Excluded Sheets
Jun 14, 2012shouldn't sheets marked as "exclude from count" not be counted?
I tried this in both 2013 and 2012 to see if maybe AutoDesk broke it, but it doesn't work in either one. This is easily reproducible for me, a file shouldn't be necessary. Just open up (or create) a multi sheet drawing. Go to edit sheet on one or two of them and check the "exclude form count" box. Now create a new iLogic rule and put the following line into it:
MsgBox("This is the number of sheets in the drawing: " & ThisDoc.Document.Sheets.Count, VBOkOnly, "Number of Sheets")
Revit :: 2014 / 3D Views Missing On Sheets
Jun 10, 2013Whenever I try to print sheets that contain shaded (or better) 3D views, these 3D views do not appear on my prints/Pdf's/DWFx's. I've tried different PDF-drivers and hardcopy printers that are in my office, but they all don't work.
Some things that maybe can narrow the cause down:
- Printing a single 3D view to a DWFx works
- Printing a single 3D view to PDF or hardcopy printer doesn't work
- Printing a Hidden Line view on sheets works on alle printers
- 2013; printing a sheet containing 3D views works. When upgrading the same project to 2014, the same sheet fails.
Revit :: Transferring Sheets And Views From 1 File To Another?
Jul 27, 2011I have made some sheets in 1 revit file and made elevation views and put them on the sheets. Now I want to move those sheets to another file.
Is it possible or do you just have to make new sheets and views? It doesn't look like is works within 'Transfer Project Standards'.....
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Sheets Annotation Scale?
Mar 29, 2012I have created section sheets in C3D 2012. My sections look fine in model space and my template comes in in paper space with my template and the proper viewport (viewport scale is 1:200). My annotation scale in model space is 1:250 and everything looks fine. My problem is, in paper space, the sections themselves looks fine but the annotation is way out to lunch (see attachment). I've tried playing with the scales but can't seem to find a solution.

Dec 8, 2012After I create cross section sheets (Output---> generate cross section), the generated sections do not fit in the sheet exactly. In fact, the generated layouts do not cover the sections correctly, and some sections fall outside the created sheet.
It should be noted that I use the "ISO A1 Section 1 to 500" layout which is installed on the default pass of C3D (template folder), and the scale of "view section style" is set to 1/500. I tried the scale of the drawing (toolspace window---> setting tab---> rigth click on the name of drawing and click edit drawing setting) with 1/500, however the problem was not solved.
Another important issue is that the section views in the "Model space" are shown correctly, but my problem is in the layout space after generating cross sections.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Cross Section Sheets Not Centered?
Mar 15, 2013I am working in Civil 3d 2012 and creating multiple view cross sections. I have my sheet template created and when I create the cross sections, it pulls them to the top corner of the sheet, off the grid. I can not figure out where the setting is to adjust the offset on the sheet.
