View 1 RepliesWhen i setup inventor 10 i choose to use inches, but now i want to use MM how would i change it under inventor 10 i thought it would bbe under options but it not.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't find the option that changes the scale from 1/100 to 1/16" to 1'-0" or how to have the scale show up on a drawing. I've gone into options and turned on the scale visibility but get squat on both.
Also where can I find a list of the title block text options ie. ,
I have Autodesk Inventor on a student license, and I use the metric system.
I've been able to change the settings for parts, presentations and assemblies to use millimeters, but for some reason the drawing sheets still use inches.
How do I change the unit settings for drawing sheets?
Sometimes I like my dimensions to be in all inches ( 24" ) and most of the time I prefer feet/inched ( 2'-0" ) Where do I change this in the dimension style setting or properties?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been working 4-weeks for a new customer. I Run Inventor 2011 mechanical... I have multiple iwd files that have all been done in decimals. The floor workers here want fractions to the 1/32. Is there a easy way to up-date my entire list of drawings with out creating new? Is there a easy way to create a style that I can easily switch to when I draw/design for this customer. I hate fractions!
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to show fractions on my drawings rather than descimals.
I have gone into the style manager and have units in inches
I have linear format in diagonal fractions
I have precision at 1/16
I have also made several other changes to centerline color and hidden lines color etc.
I choose save
I choose done
On the drawing, the color changes are made but the dimension still reads in descimals.
How do I get fractions to be applied to the dims on the drawing?
How can I change the precision of Driven Dimensions. I have a Driven Dimesion in a sketch that I want to use in another dimension later. Let's say that d59 is a Driven Dimension.I want dimension d80 = d59*2. When I measure it using eight decimal places, I can see that it is rounding d59 to 3 decimal places, but I don't want it to do that because then d80 is off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was adding a lot of aligned dimensions to a drawing and some where along the way they changed from aligned dimensions to rotated dimensions, even in the same string of dimensions.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI mean the dimensions in sketches in a model part, not the drawing dimensions which are controlled by styles .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in sketch mode and my drawing dimensions are all in decimal format. How do I change that to a fractional format?
I thought it would be in the styles editor, but when I open that up, I don't see ANY dimension style listed (see picture). I also tried right clicking the actual dimension to view the properties, but that only lets me change the decimal precision (also attached). The help file mentioned the "ANNOTATE" tab, but I don't even have that tab on my ribbon so I'm guessing it's unique to autocad?
So I have this drawing, which has been annihilated by many different people. One area of concern (among many) is the drawing units...some objects are in inches, some in Millimeters, some in feet, etc...
Question:
Is there a way to change the entire drawing to inches, so if I select an object...any object, properties will have it in inches. Or, if I get area of an object, it will read in square inches?

I am drawing a plan view of building that is 11 feet by 36 feet. I thought my map units were in feet but when I draw in the linear dimensions, it reads 11 inches x 3 feet. How do I change this?
View 8 Replies View Relatedok here it goes, when i want to use the units menu to change from inches to mm , or use the modify menu i get the following error(s)
'_units Unknown command "UNITS". Press F1 for help.
and same thing happens with properties.
Out of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI typically as much as possible like to insert my dimensions into my drawing from my model.
I created holes in the model as a 1/4" tapped hole
Yet when I show the dimensions in the drawing they show the minor dimension.
How do I get the 1/4" to show? I have selected the feature and still get these results.
I have just reloaded CS5 onto my laptop with Windows 7 and I can't change the unit preference to inches. Every time I try to select it, it immediately reverts back to points.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't seem where or how to fix this. I'm on the latest verion of Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7, and for some reason, when I go to create a shape, everything is in inches instead of pixels. It won't let me just type in pixels, it just reverts back to inches and won't change the shape. I am pulling my hair out trying to find the setting or preference. where I can change the settings so that things are always in pixels and not inches?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen drawing using imperial units in Revit, it of course interprets values you input as feet until you press " to let it know you mean inches. As I am constantly going between Revit and AutoCAD, which does the opposite, I keep missing the " out of habit and wasting time repeating everything. My question is, is there a way to change the input from feet to inches so I can move more seamlessly between the two programs?

View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open Xara I have to change the default settings under "Utilities", "Options", "Units" from inches to pixels. There are other default settings I'd like to change as well, but my question is how do I change those settings to default so that when I open Xara, I don't have to go reset them? This is a PITA! I have searched through the help files and don't see any info on changing the standard default settings!

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is for Rectangle Select. I read somewhere else that it's possible but it didn't say how. I would also like to change the default for fixed ratio from 4:3 to something like 1:1 (square).
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I want to edit a solid part in Inventor 2012, I click the "Edit Form" button which automatically launches Fusion. Units are defaulted to cm every time (I don't understand why it can't autodetect units) and the first thing I do is switch them to inches (english). I edit my part then return to Inventor. The part has been resized (smaller by a factor of 2.54) and moved off my original origin. I cannot figure out how to get around this HUGE problem. This has made Fusion useless to me and has drastically reduced the functionality of my ablility to solid edit.
If Fusion is intigrated into Inventor, why does it behave as a totally different product (reversed scroll wheel direction, different units, no refrencing between Inventor features and Fusion, etc.)? It's as if the Fusion programing team and the Inventor programming team met for just long enough to put the Fusion button in Inventor and nothing more.
I use my parts list to generate a total length in inches of the same part that is used in several places in my assemblies. I then export it to excel, convert it to feet, etc. I've been doing this for some time now and it works great. The problem I am now having is I forgot how I got this magic to happen and I need to set another part to appear with it's total length in the list. From what I remember I set the QTY column in the parts list to show the length of the part and then I set the parts list to merge the same parts. For the life of me I can't remember how I did this. How this is done correctly?
All of the parts are created by the frame generator if this matters.
