AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Export Face Completely
Sep 10, 2012
I made a part using the extrude function and cut some texts into the part by extrude (tried emboss) as well. However, when I select the face to export, letters that have area inside, such as "A", "O", etc don't like right because the face selection only selects everything outside the bounds of the letter- so the triangle island part in the "A" and the circular island part bounded by the "O" cannot be selected. This presents a problem for me as I'm trying to use a CNC to cut these letters out with a dxf file to feed my CAM program.
In Inventor 2013 when i export face as it is automaticly exported to DWG 2013 version. How to i set it to 2010 version export without having to do it everytime manually? (option then chooose 2010)
I have a script which saves the flat pattern from a sheet metal part as a dxf file. But we also have standard part files that we save a face as a flat pattern. So I'm looking to be able to select a face then run a script to save the selected face as a flat pattern in a dxf file.
I need to find a way to export the selected face to dwg and to have the Part Number and if possible the description written under the exported face. I don't know if it's possible to do this. I know it's possible to export programmatically the selected face, but is it possible to get the name + description into the drawing too?
We're just looking for a way to "automate" the creation of our laser drawings.
When I use "export face as" to create a DXF file for our lazer table I loose the bend lines in the DXF. Is there a way to retain the lines in order to have the lazer scribe the bend lines for us?
when I anchor the layer face over the background face the floating selection disappears which means I cannot work on the layer face and therfore am unable to erase the layer face into the background face, this is on gimp 2.6
All I need to do is merge a circular face to a flat face, so both faces become one continuous face. Is this possible at all?
I have a attached a screenshot to show what I mean. Face 1 needs to be merged with face 2. This is so if I constrain anything to that face it will constrain to the entire face and not either the circular face OR the flat face.
I have been using a simple rule to export IDW drawings to ACAD 2000 DWG format using Inventor 2011. I upgraded to Inventor 2012 Pro past weekend and am having problems running Ilogic Rules.
Running the rules on Inventor 2012 Pro either manually or using Triggers errors out. The same rule run using Inventor 2011 works ok. The code I have is direclty from the My Snippet> Export DXF from IDW. All occurences of "DXF" were replaced with "DWG". Here is the complete
' Get the DWG translator Add-In.
Dim DWGAddIn As TranslatorAddIn DWGAddIn = ThisApplication.ApplicationAddIns.ItemById("{C24E3AC4-122E-11D5-8E91-0010B541CD80}") 'Set a reference to the active document (the document to be published). Dim oDocument As Document oDocument = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument [URL]........
Below is the error message. I don't know what this is but the DWG and DXF translators ADDIN may not be loading up. I have loaded them manually using ADDIN Manager but I continue to get this error.
Worked fine until tonight... the export window completely vanished. I installed the 4.2 update, no luck. Restarted the computer, nothing. Uninstalled LR completely and re-installed it, still nothing. I can't view the window with the options regarding export, making it impossible.
I'll try to write this logically, but as logic has failed to get me the output I want, I suspect somewhere there will be something highly illogical...
I am trying to export a JPEG file, complete with images. I have setup the original file to 2362x602 pixels, at 300 ppi (making a canvas approximately 200x50mm). This is confirmed through Image -> Canvas Size.
Now if I want to print to paper, I can check the settings through Image -> Print Size, to confirm what size I will get.
What I want is to be able to do the same thing for an export jpg function. I need the JPG to come out at a specific dimension, not a specific pixel size. If I export my file now (File -> Export) as a jpg, I end up with a jpeg much wider than 200mm. A quick rightclick->properties shows me the jpg is still 2362x602 pixels, at '300dpi.' So why is that not the size I expect it to be?
One of the computers at my office keeps randomly freezing, i.e. Windows freezes, not just Inventor, when working on a simple frame generator assembly. The freezing seems to be completely random, it can happen 2 minutes after opening the assembly or it can happen after 2 hours.
This only happens on this one computer with this one assembly.
The computer in question is a new Dell Precision M4600 (like a week old) running Autodesk Factory Design Suite Premium 64 bit (including Autodesk Inventor standard edition). Installing Service Pack 1 had no effect on the problem.
Some parts properties of one project has partially or completely grey in browser.
Nothing special had happened prior to this problem. It happened with some absolutely irregular and not systematic affection as like a fallen and broken ink bottle makes something completely colored and some other stuff just partially and some not.
I mean some parts properties are completely grey and some have just several grey properties while some other are not affected (see video link)
It is a permanent bug and seems it belongs to the part itself since the reloading Inventor and windows and Task Scheduler attempts to fix it - all gray colors stay exactly where they were before and in same irregularity. Opening the affected parts in other project gave the same result as in original one.
I'm drawing a sheet metal part with several flanges and corner seam, but when I try to generate its flat pattern, the part is not competely unfolded, every corner with a seam is not flattened (while there is a clearance between the corner edges; i.e. no welding)
is there anyway to generate a complete flat pattern without removing the corner seams ??
(the flat pattern is attached where you can notice some flanges are flattened while others are not !)
I have attached a picture of what it continues to do when I attempt to select a face of this polygon I revolved from a cv curve tool line. Accidentally copied dual screen. I have been running into countless problems while trying to manipulate this revolved surface like a polygon but there is something stopping me. How do I just select an edge or a face without the entire thing lighting up with yellow dots and not actually selecting anything! I try to hold shift and click other faces but that doesn't work either!
If I could somehow delete the action of revolving a line to treat the independent tessellations as one uniform polygon. I am very new to this program and I don't know where history might be.
On a couple assy's, I am trying to use pack&go to make self-contained versions of them.
Only problem is, the assy file (xxx.iam) and all sub-assy files are still linked to the component files in the original location even though the component files were copied to the new location with the P&G command
The whole point in this feature is to make self sufficient copies of something that don't depend on the original data.
This shows the settings I am using It is finding all the files ok. It just doesn't change the relationships on the new iam files. I could manually copy them and do the same thing this feature is doing.
Is there some hidden checkbox I need to find ? Note, I also tried once with "Include linked files" unchecked and got the same result.
how to edit a solid with opening a hole only one face and deleting an another face..
I added a drawing file which has a coloured face solid,I put a circle on blue face and making a hole on this face, and I want to delete red face without exploding solid, after all this I want to mesh this solid with maximum 25 units.
Is there a way to use PRESSPULL on a face that's behind or underneath another face. When I use PRESSPULL it always selects the face on top and sometimes I want a face that is behind or underneath that face.
I am trying to CAD a model rocket I just made so I can test the aerodynamics of it. I have all of the individual parts made in inventor, but I am having trouble getting the fins on the rocket.
How can I constrain the fins (which have a flat face) to the outside of the cylindrical rocket tube? The photo shows the fin and the face (the narrow and long face) that I am trying to constrain to the tube.
I'm trying to model plug welds in IV2014. I've read all the posts here that say that I need to split the hole faces. Problem is, the split face command doesn't seem to appear in weldments. I want to make the holes to be plugged as a weld preparation. Am I just missing something here, or is IV so backward that a common weld can only be achieved when not working with a weldment?

In doing a move face I noticed there isn't any parameters that can be edited after the move face has been created. I want to control the face length with a parameter after it has been created. Am I missing something or is there a work-a-round?
Having never used this command before I am struggling as to where it is located.I imported a U-Bolt in Solidworks format and I am just trying to move the nuts as indicated.
Trying to add draft to an area on this part. Not sure exactly how to get the results I'm looking for. Tried "Draft" command and that didnt work at all. Tried to do a sweep. Its close, but not exacly what I want.
I am trying to get draft applied on this entire face at a given angle (say 5°). The Sweep feature in the part is where I attempted it, but you can see below the Ø6in section, all of the face does not have the draft on it.
I have a face plate with strokes on it to represent pressure increments.I cannot get the numbers onto the face plate. On the large stroke it starts at 0 and goes to 9 .. How do i add the numbers. Also i used extrusions for the increment strokes with circular patterns and mirror features. Is this how it should be modeled?
We are surveyors working in Civil 3D 2013. We sometimes need to export drawings back to previous versions for architects. This can produce unpredictable results. It was suggested to use the command PROXYGRAPHICS, change it to 1, and then export to a previous version. This worked on some drawings.
Yesterday, however, I tried this method and the architect sent me back a PDF saying this is what it looked like in model space when he opened it.
