I've found shrink wrapping it as a surface causes problems with the video card when rotating the model and placing views on a drawing.
I'm attempting to use the "emboss" feature and wrapping the text to the surface of the part.
Attached is the example of the part I am working with. Also attached is the error message I receive after attempting the process. Is there another way to wrap the text about the surface of a "coiled" face?
I've been attempting to create a sphere with an Earth texture, for which I've made a custom appearance with a flattened picture of earth. Instead of wrapping to the sphere, however, the image is mirrored on both sides of the sphere and extremely distorted. I knew wrapping 2D geometry to a sphere was not strictly possible, but is there no way to pull it off with an image?
If not, would something like this be possible in 3DS max?
how to Wrap the text shown here. Obviously the Column labeled "ITEM NO." would be 1, 2 , 3 etc. So I would like that column to be smaller. When I make the column smaller, the wording disappears.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen a parts list in an Inventor drawing is wrapped it always takes the bottom portion and kicks it to the left.
Is there a way to kick it to the right? So when you are looking at the BOM it reads such that item 1 is in the first group and not the second.

What I don't understand is that in the error dialog box the Thickness is correct the Radii are correct and the Angle is correct except it is showing a -90 degrees. Is that the problem? The negetive? Why is it showing a negative number. I can't change the way the part is formed. The problem seems to be with the lower left hand curl. It does go ahead and flatten it, but I don't trust the results when I have the three errors.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a part where I have placed a number of table driven iFeatures. These features generate parameters in the model that I can see in the parameter table. I am trying to find a way to have these iFeature parameters show up in the hole table in my drawing.
By 'exporting' the parameters, I have been able to get the values to show in notes and drawing view labels but I can't find a way to add them as a 'New Property' in my hole table.
Is there a way in the description field of an Inventor hole table to have mixed units? Some hole sizes at fractions, some at 2 plc, and others at 3 places.

In our company, we put Excel tables in our drawings. The reason we've chosen for Excel-tables is that we can adjust the layout of the table quite easily. These tables consist of grouped cells in a particular company-specific layout. We select the range of the desired cells, copy and paste them in our AutoCAD drawing. This drawing is sent to our customers. The disadvantage of this method is, that when our customers (who use CAD-software of other brands) open the dwg, they don't see the table, but some kind of picture of the table.
Is there a way to 'explode' the excel-table, but keep the specific layout of the table? For attributes in blocks there's the 'Explode Attributes'-command in the Express-tools, but is there something similar for Excel-tables?

Is there a way to force the table and table text height to stay constant despite the scale? I can do it for Point Label Styles with an Expression. But in 2011 there is no way to build an expression for a table style.
I want to create tables in the drawing where the points are and then plot them from a drawing they're Xrefed in to. The tables are too small but zooming in doesn't make them any bigger because the scale of the viewport changes and they adjust.
Having an issue trying to join an access table to a shp file attribute table. I want to use the access table to cross reference the shp file for matching parcel numbers. Say I have ten sheets, each with a table for quantities of pipe length, and one sheet with a total of all quantities. Can I link cells from each separate layout sheet to the main table sheet, so that I can add them all for project totals?

My objective is create a database table that has detailed notes for call outs in my drawings and then link my call out blocks to the database table and display the blocks and linked descriptions in an Autocad table. If the notes in the database table are edited the Autocad table updates with the new the description from the database.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm simply trying to delete the revision table if it exists on a drawing. I did find where you can't do anything with Rev Tags with the API, but what about the Actual Revision Table?
Trying to get this to work;
If iProperties.Value("Project", "Revision Number")>0Dim oRevTable as RevisionTableoRevTable = ActiveSheet.Sheet.RevisionTable.Item(1) oRevTable = nullRevisionTable
I 'd like to keep the old Revision table rows available , but off the sheet rather than delete all the rows & start from , let's say, Rev 10.Is this possible in 2012?

Is it possible to add a Appearance tab to a Ipart table? I am cataloging a set of parts and one part is made with steel but in Gloss - Black and Matte - Black and i'd like to differentiate the 2 without haveing to make 2 seperate Ipart files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created some reference points on a part. I have a need to include a table on the drawing of this part that shows the x,y,z coordinate positions of each of those points relative to the coordinate system origin. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing of a sheet metal part that I did late last year. I used a Hole Table to dimension all the holes.
Fastforward to today. I added two holes that are different in size than any other hole. So when I opened the drawing it automatically added them to the Hole Table and gave them tag #'s in a new group and it kept the grouping in Alpha order. A, B, C were there before and it added D. Great, that's the way to do it.
Then I decided I needed to change the hole size. The change would keep the size different than any other hole on the part still. I go into the drawing and it change the size in the Table BUT, it also moved them up to the top of the list but kept the tag # as D*.
How do I get those two entries back to the bottom where they belong to keep them in order?
Having this issue with IE9? I have a table driven iPart that has an expression in the description field. The expression is =PL <THICK> x <WIDTH>, so that as the thickness and width change the description of this plate also changes. I have recently added rows to this part for the use of bar instead of plate on certain shapes. In order for the bar description to match standard steel shape nomenclature the expression on these parts needs to be =BAR <WIDTH> x <THICK>. How can I add the description to the iPart table so that I can simply edit the bar parts to be as needed?
Some things to note:
1.) These are custom iParts so when the item is inserted you select the thickness, file name, save location, etc.
2.) There are about 705 lines to this iPart right now and I would prefer not to go higher.
3.) I would like to keep these as the same iPart instead of having two different files.
4.) I need the description to be an expression because long after these parts are placed, they sometimes change and I need the dimensions to update after the fact like all our other parts (so don't forget that these one won't and then the drawings are incorrect).

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to insert a generic table into an assembly file. I don't want to create an iAssembly or use the data to configure the component in any way. I would just like to be able to maintain some design related information within the assembly file, similar to the tables that you can create in an idw. A table just like the iAssembly table would be fine, minus the iAssembly part or any sense of configuration.

I have completed a part file with a family table defined in it. I check this part into vault. When I search for this part in vault it seems like it has taken the part number and the description from the first line in the family table and assigned it to the main part file. To me this is confusing because it looks like there are two items that are the same.
