I have an issue with Shrinkwrap/Derive when using a Positional Rep.Open the derived part and try to change it to the "work" positional rep.Everything appears to work fine in the "master" rep.I have this problem in a few of my assemblies and was able to track it down to the positional rep usage in the derived part.

When creating positional reps in Inventor 2012 SP1 it rounds them to a 3 place decimal. So If I want the constraint to be at 1.1875 it rounds it to 1.188. Is there anyway to change this to 4 place decimal?

The assembly has decals on one or two of the components which are key to identifying our product. I have yet to find a way of shrinkwrapping it that doesn't loose the decal... which check box I've failed to check/deselect, or is there a better way?

What I am after is some code that will place these isolated view reps as views on my dwg that the assembly resides in.With the functionality of picking face to show plan view of parts.

Therefore I cannot move the shrinkwrap to other folders or treat it as an individual ipt file in any way. When I try to break the link I can't, the "link" button is greyed out:

I have a shrinkwrap part of a conveyor that I want to use in a plant layout. I have it just the way I want it now. However, I want to do a break link on it so I can copy it off to another project workspace. When I do a break link my derive settings change to some funky default and my model gets all messed up. The one that's giving me the biggest problem is the remove parts by size. On my long conveyors its removing my motor, reducer, drive chain guards, support legs, and other miscellanea that I need shown in my layout.

I have a assembly with several locked design view reps.
I insert a couple of new parts to assembly.
Now, do i have to manually unlock each of the design reps to have these new parts visible in the each of then design view reps?
If yes, any macro or ilogic tool to do this?

I've had this issue now for quite a while. Seems to only happen with wires that are made in the Cable & Harness module. And the odd part is that not all wires do this and not all View Rep/Detail views do this.
Regardless of wether I have a wire visible or not in a locked View Rep it still shows up in the Detail View on the .idw. And yes, I have the 'associative' check box checked.
I've unchecked the check box, nothing. Rechecked the box, nothing. Updated the views individually, nothing.
Can I have an assembly cut and make a couple of view reps or level of details so that one has the assembly cut and one does not.

Is there a setting to tell Inventor to only make newly inserted/created parts visible in the active view rep.
I am so tired of having to go through all my view reps every time I add a new part to an assembly.
I have set up my assembly file so that it has the master and two other positions. When I switch from position one, to position two, it works fine. But when I go into inventor studio, and try to create an animation by using Pos Reps, it will not do anything.I do sometimes get an error saying that Excel is required. I do have the latest version of Excel installed on my machine.

I create simple representations that go from closed to open and when I finish creating the animation I have a position representation called WorkPR1 that overwrites any positional representations I have created. What do I need to do to get my representations to be used or how do I modify the WorkPR1 representation to show what I want?

I have a part in which one of the folds needs to be done at assembly and not during manufacturing of the other bends.
Is there a way I can show this so that the manufacturing print sees exactly what they need to do and nothing more but then on the unit assembly the assemblers see that the unfolded tab needs to be folded down?
Can this be done all in one part file?

(see attached image) although I do have it installed. I've put the hotfix on for excel, with no effect. I've repaired inventor and repaired excel no fix though.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an issue where a two positional representations are showing in the spreadsheet for editing, but not showing in the tree view.
I cannot delete a representation from the spreadsheet.
I'm configuring a band with different supports. Each support is configured with a range; 600-900, 900-1200, 1200-1500 etc. those ranges can be adjust by 50mm and those steps are specified by the pos reps (see attached image).
All the different supports are put in the top assembly and in this assembly I want to switch between the positional representations. I tried to use:
ThisApplication.ActiveDocument.ComponentDefinition.RepresentationsManager.PositionalRepresentations("MyPosRep").Activate
But it won't work. I guess I have to replace "ComponentDefinition" in one way or another to the component name, but I don't know how.
Is there a way to reorder positional representations in the browser. I'd like to keep them in order of how the assembly will function. That way, it's easier to create the animation in Studio. See attached image.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe are running Inventor 2013 and I am trying to create a simple positional representation of a small assembly. For some reason, the "New" option is grayed out in the positional representation browser.
I can't remember ever having trouble creating them in past releases.....
The problem
- I have a top level assembly (lets call it '01.iam', which contains a range of subassemblies (e.g. '02.iam', '03.iam' etc)
- The subassemblies have positional representations
- I want to be able to manipulate the pos.rep's from the top level using iLogic.
I found this snippet of code on the forum which works when I create the rule in one of the subassemblies.

But I'm having trouble adapting it to work from the top level, as I would like all my rules saved in one place.

We have found that after installing SP1 for Inventor 2013 is nearly impossible edit derived assembly. It takes very long time for open dialog of Derived assembly, without SP1 it takes approx. 2mins. for assembly of 20000 instances, with SP1 it takes more than 2 hours! This we are able to reproduce on each of our station. And more, there is still not corrected bug with save setting of hole patching range. This setting does not remember min and max value and after re open this dialog the range is set back to default value 10-9999mm.
I have tried ti disable antivir and all unnecessary services - no effect.

I need to derive a part in a model (not assembly and as a separate solid), to remove it and make a cavity. However, I need inventor to prompt what file is to be derived through iLogic.
View 5 Replies View Relatedyesterday when I clicked on "Derive" while in a part file I would get a browse window to select the part I wanted to derive, after this a prompt would come up that asked if you wanted the part to be a surface or a solid, if you wanted to scale it, etc. For some odd reason today when I tried to derive a part it doesnt come up anymore. After I select the part it just gets inserted and to keep it I have to hit enter or right click and select "ok". Not sure why the prompt stopped popping out, havent changed anything.

I have ipt file that I am trying to derive into another part file. The "derive style" is set to surface only. solid icons (top most row icons) are all disabled/greyed out. But actually the part i am trying to derive oesnt have any surfaces.
Why does inventor force the derive to be surface only?
If i continue to dereive, I am seeing that the "move bodies" icon is also greyed out.

Is there anyway to derive a text parameter? It's nice that 2011 gives you the ability to create text parameters but why don't they allow you to derive it to another part? What about deriving iProperties?

There is an assembly in Vault that I need to derive into a single part to work with our CMM software.
When I try to open up the assembly from Vault, it opens up just fine, with no warning or errors or save prompts, so all part data links should be ok. However, when I try to derive it there is a part that will not come in. If I derive the assembly and keep each solid as a solid body, it derives just fine but that is not what I need.
Is there any way to troubleshoot why a file isn't coming in for the derive but works just fine with Vault? I can't attach the assembly but I will try to attach the process I have recorded and have a screen clip of the error message. How can I get to the option of checking or unchecking the "use colors from source component" in a derived part? I have been looking through the API at the DerivePartComponentObject and see all the other options but the one I am looking for, where to start looking for this?
