I have probably a very simple problem but cannot figure out how to do it. I am adding text to a drawing and I want several leaders to be associated with this single text. I add my first text at tow head and then do a add vertex/leader. It will not let me add one unless it is on a line.
And it adds it but then I cannot get it off the line. I have tried holding down the shift, control and alt key before, during and after I have highlighted the arrowhead to move.
i have seen photoshop images of people like geroge bush and shrek, turned into the terminator. i have searched high and low for a tutorial on how to do this, but the only one i can find is rubbish. i found it on good tutorials, but it doesnt look like the terminator at all. please help me someone.
Is it possible to lock a text box to prevent it from moving but still be able to input & edit text?I want to make a drawing template in CorelDraw x6 using text boxes for "non Corel friendly" people to use but need the actual text boxes to stay in the same place all the time!?
I am, as of now, trying to learn the VB.NET programming for AutoCAD applications from scratch .
The question I wanted to ask the devs out there is that, is there any way or a function to move a text object within a layer to a different geometric location? I was thinking it could be accomplished by translating the text or offsetting it.
In 2011 I could select dim, Right click, Type "X" to bring up the move dim sub menu, Then either "M" to move dim alone or "L" to move it with a leader.
I can't seem to do that in 2012. I have to hover the mouse over the dim text grip point and wait for a menu to pop-up.
Obviously the former is way faster and I would like that back.
Also on a side note, I'm noticing 2012 to be ever so slightly slower. Micro second delays here and there. Extremely annoying when you're used to instant commands. Biggest culprit seems to be the move command. It hangs for a split second when I invoke the command. (and no I don't have properties up). Is this something I just need to get used too?
I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."
Is there a way to move the horizontal text of a vertical dimension that's outside of the extension lines to the right or left?
This was possible years ago with a simple stretch or moving of the text grip. Now, if the dimension is above the extension lines, the text is to the right. If it is below the extension lines, the text is to the left.
I just upgraded from ACAD 2007 3d to 2012 3d. The rest of my organization is using a "mix" of older versions, so we still save to the 2004 format. Text objects "moving" to different locations or disappearing on opening files in newer versions of ACAD? I've had two instances so far. In one case, a 2012 LT user added a leader/text and the 2000 LT user could see it. The text was clearly there in the 2012 users file. In the other case, I opened a file I worked on in 2007 and text objects seem to be moved about randomly when looking at it in 2012. Everything still looks good with the file opened in the 2007 though.
One of my dimension scales doesn't draw a line back to the dimension when I move the number away from the dimension line. All my other dimensions do it. I keep looking for the setting that must be changed but I cannot find it. What setting creates a line from the dimension number back to the center of the dimension line if you pull the dimension number away from the line?
I am using managed classes to insert multiple block references into model space. I wish to insert a block and then move it (change its Position) which I can do. The problem is that my attributes associated with this block reference do not move.
I am trying to enlarge the text from an exported cad drawing from Dialux (lighting calculation software)...it has exported a field of values over a large area but the text is really small and illegible when its plotted as an A1 pdf
Is there anyway to blow all the text values up at once without moving them from their positions with relation to the boundaries of the roads and buildings? Here is a screenshot of the view with CAD...this is a small area of the entire scheme and those little black smudges are the numbers i need to scale
CAD Screenshot.jpg
I guess in a 3D program this would be equivalent to having the pivot point located in the centre of each set of numbers so you could scale them using the centre of each number as its scale point but I am stumped by how to do this in Autocad Architecture 2011..
I am using AutoCad 2012, with CADDUCT. On my runs of duct that go vertical, I like to stack my tag numbers beside the riser in order, so our installers can easily identify the order without a ton of section views. I am trying to figure out a macro that will do numerous things. Since my tags come out at different rotation angles, I would like to do the following commands.
Rotate object text "TAG #" to 0 degrees
move object text "TAG #" to "Snap from" & "snap insert" 6" below the tag above it
I want the numbers to align by their insert locations up and down the page, and exactly 6" on center vertically from one another. The tag numbers have a node justified to the center up and down of the text.
I am in AutoCAD LT 2008. Within the last few months I have noticed that some of my text is changing from a regular font style to bold when being copied/pasted, moving, and/or stretching. This is also happening with the text in my dimension style. When I check properties, nothing has changed from one text's set of properties to the other. I have not changed any settings that I am aware of since this started happening. In some cases if I paste with a base point, then paste I can avoid this, but not in all cases. I have also opened the text boxes to verify that the bold button did not get activated. This is a very annoying problem and if I don't catch all the text that has been affected it makes drawings look inconsistent.
I have started to make a custom librabry in the Conter Center with our company products. At the begining I didn't think too much what categories I will need, but now I need to reorganize some categories and to move some families parts into other categories. But I can't find how to do that. I see that it's possible to move the them to other librabry.
So for the moment I just want to move 2 families for J-TEC catergory in the upper category named Piping and then just to delete the category J-TEC.

I used to be able to drag text with my mouse. Now, out of the blue, when I click on a text layer and try to move it with my mouse, CS automatically deselects my text layer and selects the background layer or a shape. Why is it automatically deselecting the text layer and selecting the background?! So, I can only move text with my arrow keys!
in inv 2012, if I create a new part with adaptivity within an assembly the datum of the sketch ends up wherever, if I break links and remove the adaptivity, is it possible to move the absolute datum of the sketch to a decent position within the sketch?
I've been making a model plane model in inventor 2012 from imported IGES geometry, and Realised that my sketches were not assigned to any part (and thus can't be lofted). Is there any way of moving the sketches to the newly created part without redrawing everything? I've tried dragging and dropping because it seemed to make sense, but alas, that had no success.
When I place parts in my assembly they are stuck in the position I place it and can only be moved once I mate it to another part of my assembly. I have only recently encountered this problem, as usually when I place a parts in an assembly I am able to simply click on the component and drag/move that part around to put it in a place that suits before I use any constraints.
What is the problem, have I clicked on some function unknown to myself which has disabled the ability to move parts/assemblies when I place them into an assembly?
I have some "insert" constraints for DIN rails in holes. I've moved the holes, but the DIN rail doesn't move. The refresh button isn't "lighting up", or when it does, it does not do anything to move the rail. Is there something that's been "shut off" to keep things from moving?
I like the new(ish) feature where you can drag a section plane through a component, but is it possible to program a moving section and record it to an avi file? Is this something I can do in 3ds, Studio or Showcase? IV2013
I created a sketch on a 'fixed workplane' and extruded it. I would like to know if it is possible to move the workplane? I understand I can change the workplane if it is a 'plane by offset from plane'.
If moving a fixed workplane is possible, does the extruded features move along together?
I have a problem regarding a mechanical design. I want to make a pin move around a complex shape, always tangent to the sides of the shape. The point is not to have it animated, but I need the constrain so I can further work on the mechanical design.
So I have this assembly with all parts constrained properly yet it won't let the parts move the way they should under the constraints applied and it's telling me I have interfering constraints.
I checked the "broken" constraints over but they look fine. It's a relatively small assembly (10-15 parts), although the parts have been used in a previous assembly. Would this affect their behavior?
I have numerous step files which I have imported into an assembly. I now need to move all the imported files to a predefined UCS (not 0,0,0). I can do this manually by using the assemble command and selecting the centre point then selecting the centre point of the pre-defined UCS.
I have potentially thousands of parts to move in various assemblies, is there a way to do this using iLogic and if so, how?
I need to find out how much smaller the part in the upper image is so it fits inside the similar shape in the bottom image. The real part is a bit more complicated so it's hard to calculate if it fits. Is it possible to make those parts in assembly mode so that they don't move through each other and I could move the upper part inside the lower and find out that way if it fits?
I'm new to Inventor and I've been working on a complicated part for quite some time. However, I've just realised that I've made an error at the very beginning. I'm drawing the part in the YZ plane and extruding along the X axis. My problem is due to the fact that I began the drawing at x=0 when I should have began at x=7780mm. moving the entire part in the positive X direction? I've tried several approaches but none seem to work.
I did not make the picture but if I would like to move a text that is on the image, how can I do so without touching the background? Since I did not make the picture, I do not have layers on it.
