Al my projects, settings and templates use the Metric system.
When i open the material physical properties i see the Imperial System.
How can i change this ?
When I duplicate the Material in the Material Browser all appearance and Physical properties are duplicated too.
So I must accept or assign the new unique names for appearance and Physical purposes of Material.
In my case I need, for example, the same Material with different appearance, for example knurled and regular.
I cannot save the new Material with existing Physical properties name and it makes unwanted copies like Steel(1), Steel(2) in Assets.
After I made a copy I can reassign the Physical properties back to existing but it takes a time of replacing assets and deleting unwanted copies.
Is it possible to make a copy within the same Physical Assets?
Two questions.
Is there a way to add new materials to physical properties?
Is there a cloud feature in Inventor for drawings, or is that something that can only be done in Autocad Mechanical and Mechanical Desktop?
I have recently made a bucket for chain (linked) and was looking to put the chain in the bucket for visual purposes and to see if the capacity of the bucket is correct.
I can get the chain linked together, however when rotated round it passes through another piece of chain.
Is there a way in inventor to tell a part/assembly of it’s physical/mass properties? I know you can make something mild steel and get weight etc, however if not constrained it still passes through as if it’s a ghost.
how I can update the physical properties for a part or assembly, from a drawing? My drawing template is showing the total weight for the current part/assembly, and I would love if Inventor could update this using iLogic, so I don't get the "N/A" value all the time.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have some issues with the notation for physical properties in the Inventor 2013 material editor.
Instead of displaying the obvious first choice metric SI notation kg/m^3 or something similar it display a self made? and awkward N*s^2/mm^4. I don't want this notation. How can I change to something more user friendly? It can be a bit hard to distinguish if a material have 0.00000000001 N*s^2/mm^4 or 0.0000000001 N*s^2/mm^4.
The document properties "units" folder have mm, seconds, degree and kilogram as default.
I'm trying to add some material properties to a STP or IGES file I've received from a customer (in Inventor 2011). Is there any way to add a density for example, so I can obtain the mass of the model? I've tried doing it through the iProperties menu but it's not giving me a mass.

What happens to older part materials that were created by customer when you upgrade (or downgrade as it has been for our company) from 2011 to 2013.
I was performing some FEA analysis and was getting some strange results. So I investigated into my material properties to find that mine were INCORRECT! I looked at some of my co workers material libraries and they seemed to be correct. How do I go about possibly resetting my material properties. I just installed inventor 2014 about a week or 2 ago. I'm trying to design some keys in a shaft for a project in working on. In that design the steel alloy I'm using is important so that the design doesn't fail. The only problem is Inventor uses some unit called "Allowable Pressure" to perform this calculation. All the material data sheets I've looked at don't have a material property by that name. Is this a material property or perhaps something else?
Some parts properties of one project has partially or completely grey in browser.
Nothing special had happened prior to this problem. It happened with some absolutely irregular and not systematic affection as like a fallen and broken ink bottle makes something completely colored and some other stuff just partially and some not.
I mean some parts properties are completely grey and some have just several grey properties while some other are not affected (see video link)
It is a permanent bug and seems it belongs to the part itself since the reloading Inventor and windows and Task Scheduler attempts to fix it - all gray colors stay exactly where they were before and in same irregularity. Opening the affected parts in other project gave the same result as in original one.

I have a concrete block which has been created as an ipart and 6 bars running through the concrete block. I am looking to change the material properties of the bars to Alloy Steel but i'm having trouble finding any option to do so. I have changed the material properties within the ipart table to concrete, i'm not sure if this is conflicting it.

I have looked at wiki and searched this forum (and others) but I haven't been able to find anything of the sort... but the properties of the few aluminium alloys available are not those that we use... besides that we need them at specific temperature ranges (and honestly, I haven't been able to find any temperature controls in the FEA yet either.) And.. is there a more direct, faster, way to assign materials then [big I Pro button] > iPropperties > Physical? Right click on the solid and selecting "material" seems so much more ideal.

When I press F1 Inventor opens the help on my default browser (Chrome), but when I click the bynocular it uses Internet Explorer.
Is it possible to force Inventor to use a browser of my choice or the default browser?
I need to list all the bitmaps in my scene.
I've brought in an fbx that was created & materials applied in Revit. The bitmaps don't display on the model in my viewports, although they do render. I need to be able to make a list of all the bitmaps that are applied to this model, so I can go track them down and save copies into a folder.
Back when I was using Max 2009, I could open my material/map browser, set it to search the scene, and list only the bitmaps, not the root materials. How can I do this in 2011?
When converting metric 3d polylines to feature lines with units set on metric, drawing properties metric and using the australia/new zealand settings and command "create featureline from objects", for some reason the resulting 3d featurelines end up imperial?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a pipe network using Civil 3D 2011 and we upgraded to 2012 in the middle of the process.
I've always been able to edit the MATERIAL of the pipe for (I like to add class and type in this column)
It worked fine in 2011 as you can see in the first image.
But in 2012, the material changes that I added in 2011 chow up, but I can't edit them or revise them.
it causes me to have to label my pipes in the label editor instead of assigning the material property in the pipe properties with-in my pipe network.

Currently I am using I-logic and a form. I have an assembly that I am pushing a volume from a part to the main assembly. The volume updates in the part fine. The issue is with the form is not updating when the file parameter updates. If I exit the form and run the rule manually then the form updates. how to update the form at the same time?
