AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Project Image In Sketch
Jan 8, 2014
I'm wanting to emboss a logo onto a part. Is it possible to project the logo outline? Or is there a better way of getting the logo into inventor? The logo file is a .jpg file.

Is there a way to hide project geometry from model sketch? I am modeling a sheetmetal part where I need to sketch centermaks, part number etc. for laser cutting. I want to use xy planes for symmetry reasons when sketching, but I don't want them to appear in dxf. This is a problem if I create a dxf directly from the model.
Usually I create dxf files from drawing by adding new sheet where I create flat pattern view from the spesific part (excluding machinigs etc, only thermal cut boundaries visible). In the drawing I am allso able to show model sketches and hide unwanted project geometry. Is it possible to include these sketches to dxf?
I am attempting to insert an image into a sketch to be used as a decal, but it appears as a blank gray box. I created this image in Photoshop CS5 on my Mac Mountain Lion partition. I am running Inventor 2012 on my Windows 7 64-bit partition.
I appear to only have a problem with that specific image. All other images on my harddrive insert correctly. I have tried multiple file types (.jpg, .png, .gif, etc), but nothing has worked. URL.....It may be necessary to note that the image is white text with a transparent background.
But is there a way to get an image icon in the project list? I have a lot of projects and descriptive names only go so far with me. A little image next to each one would jog the memory. Rather than plod through a bunch looking for the right one.
I have a basic problem but I can't seem to be able to get around it. I added an image to a sketch successfully but it cam with a yellow line around it (see attached) and I can't remove it. In the sketch properties I was able to change it's color to black to make less visible but it's still there.
I have one Inventor Pro 2012 SP1 user who is trying to insert a bmp image into a sketch so he can create a decal and the image appears blank and gray. See the attached screen capture. We converted the bmp to a jpg and we get the same result. When I insert the bmp into a sketch on my workstation and it views correctly. I've logged into the same workstation as the user who is having the problem and the image also views correctly. I tried to change the file associaiton from Microsoft Picture View to Paint and I get the same result.
Here are his workstation specs:

I've created a shared sketch and have used it with various features. Sometime those features are suppressed. The model works fine but the shared sketch generates a sketch doctor error because the feature that created it has been suppressed. Is there anyway to make the sketch suppressed so it doesn't trigger a sketch doctor error? Inventor 2013
How do I duplicate the 2D line work from a part level sketch into a drawing level (overlay) sketch?
I started a simple 2D piping system diagram sketch by opening a new part file and using a sketch to stick draw the system schematic including some annotations. Then I opened a new drawing file and made a base view of the part file to bring a view of the original sketch into the drawing.
I realize now that it would have been much easier to have created the schematic directly in a 2D sketch at the drawing level, which would have made editing the annotations much easier at the drawing level, and there is really no need for the part file to exist. I have no intention of creating a 3D model or "real" part in the .ipt file, was just using it as a jumping off point to sketch.
I was thinking that I could correct my error in judgment by just copying the sketch and pasting it into a new sketch on the drawing, but it doesn't want to work that way. I have tried copying both the whole sketch at the browser level, and the entire sketch contents (all of the lines and annotations) from the opened part sketch, but when I attempt to paste either of those into the drawing, paste does not seem to be an option. I'd rather not have to draw the whole thing again, as in typical fashion, my once simple sketch has grown in proportion and complexity from its simple beginning.
I'm having trouble with constaints, I'd like to constrain my sketch to a point in another sketch on a different plane. Is this posible in Inventor? If so how? If Inventor works differently how would you get a points in one sketch to be linked to points another?
I do not have vault installed and I am trying to add sub files to my project. As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.
My dvb project file was getting bigger and bigger so I decided to split it into individual files. However, I want to have one file that contains all my library images and I had hoped to reference this library from all the other projects.
So, I have a MASTER.dvb project which contains a library of images, one of which is called LOGO.
In TITLEBLOCK.dvb I want to refer to that LOGO image and place it in my userform.
When everything was together I used LogoTB.Picture = Library.LOGO.Picture.
How do I modify this? I tried LogoTB.Picture = MASTER!Library.LOGO.Picture and variations thereof but can't get it to work.
